install genie weather widget from android 2.1

we definitely missed the boat with this application.  the genie news and weather widget from android 2.1 and the nexus one has been ported over to all android phones running 1.6 and higher and we just found out about it!  in fact, this happened back in december…sorry!

one of our fantastic new readers pointed it out and we must say, this application is worth a look.  you may have seen pictures and videos of this application running on nexus one devices and were probably wondering when it was available to the rest of the world?  good news!  it’s here!

not only does it pull up your weather automatically from the weather channel, but it gives you a reader style version of any news you could want.

steps for installing:

1.  go into settings>applications and check the “unknown sources” box.
2.  visit this post from your phone’s browser.
3.  tap and download this file onto your phone:
4.  tap on the downloaded application once it has finished.
5.  install it.
6.  go back to one of your 3 homescreens which has space on it.
7.  add a widget.  you should now see “news and weather” listed.
