The popular deals-site Daily Steals, is looking to clear out their inventory of Motorola 32GB XOOM WiFi tablets with their newest “Last Call” sale. The tabs only run $240, but are factory re-certified and come with a 90 day warranty for anyone who is wary of buying “used” tech items. As we always say, the XOOM is the OG Android tablet -being the first pure Google Experience tab on the market, the XOOM has a very healthy developer community and is also kept up quite well by Google themselves. For this price, I don’t think you’re going to see a better deal.

For owners of the world’s first 4G LTE tablet, this may come as a huge upgrade, seeing as how Verizon is still having troubles pushing the official Ice Cream Sandwich update to your device. CM9 will bring ICS, a ton of customizable options, and the relief that your device will finally receive the updates and developer support it so deserves. 

It seems that the Interwebz has been pumping out deals left and right for Android tablets as of late. The newest to hit our inbox is Groupon’s listing of the XOOM WiFi for only $340. The XOOM will always hold a special place in our hearts, seeing as how it was the first and still remains to be one of the only true vanilla Android tablets ever made. It receives timely updates straight from Google to the newest versions of the Android OS and while being completely unlockable, has a healthy developer community to keep it kicking even after Google drops support.

If you were looking for information about the next OTA update for a phone on Verizon, a reddit user by the name of DroidTosser has you covered. His latest post that went up within the last hour, gives us details for updates on just about every VZW device currently available. We’ll start first with the screenshot you are seeing above which talks Ice Cream Sandwich, but won’t stop there as the info is plentiful. 

According to an anonymous redditor who works for Big Red in “some capacity,” we could see Ice Cream Sandwich updates for both the Motorola XOOM (3G/4G) and HTC Rezound in a matter of days. The source claims that this information came out today and pegs 4/23 as the XOOM ICS date, with the Rezound dropping about two weeks later on May 9. Normally these anonymous posts aren’t much to go by, but the amount of info in his post including size, soak test dates, etc. is enough to at least grab our attention. 

It is a rarity to see these ‘one day deal’ sites selling non-refurbished Android tablets these days, so we just had to give everyone the heads up on this deal. Today only, you can buy the original Motorola XOOM WiFi developer tablet for only $329. This tablet is the definition of vanilla Android and usually receives Android updates long before any other tablet on the market. But buyers beware, as we start seeing newer versions of the Android OS, we don’t know how much longer the XOOM WiFi will be supported by Google and Motorola.

If you have not already manually downloaded and installed the XOOM WiFi update to Android 4.0.4, it is now officially rolling out to everyone. The update includes quicker screen rotation, a new setting to immediately lock the screen, camera improvements and more.

To pull the update: Settings > About tablet > System update

Last night, we first reported a new update for the Motorola XOOM WiFi that was scheduled to rollout at any minute. The version of Android is 4.0.4, build IMM76 and includes quicker screen rotation, camera improvements, and the ability to change the lock settings of the power switch. While we have yet to hear of many readers actually receiving the update, the file has already been posted to XDA. So if you have a USB stick and a microUSB host cable, you can update immediately. This file only works in the stock recovery and you have to currently be on Android 4.0.3, build IML77.
