AlphaRev and Unrevoked have joined forces and are making it very easy to own an HTC device. For quite some time now, the Unrevoked team has been the way to go when rooting select HTC devices. Owners of the DROID Incredible2 running Gingerbread, and the HTC Thunderbolt can now enjoy full S-Off support, plus a much easier rooting process. We know that the Thunderbolt owners are getting sick and tired waiting for the Gingerbread update, so why not take it upon yourself?
If you have been looking to root your Inc2, or Thunderbolt, now is the time. Feel free to head over to their site to get the full list of instructions. Be aware, you take the plunge at your own risk. We are pretty sure you won’t regret it though.
Cheers Pete, Zane!
The unrevoked team announced over the weekend that their epic recovery unlocking tool now supports SLCD screened Droid Incredibles. Basically, anyone with an Incredible should be covered in the rooting department, which means you have no excuse to not give MIUI a try at this point. Oh, they also tweaked/switched the exploit for gaining root and appear to no longer be using rageagainstthecage. If you don’t know what that is, just ignore it, but if you do, please take a second out of your day to provide a moment of silence for one of our Android heros.

We brought you word that version 3.21 of Unrevoked was no longer working for Droid Incredible after the latest update and that they were working tirelessly to fix it. Well the time has come and Incredible owners can now get back to doing what we were all meant to do with our Android phones, root them. Verison 3.22 is live and ready for your amusement.
Download it from the Unrevoked website. Changelog.
Cheers OrbitJM, Jason, Logan and Landon!
The previous rooting method for the Droid Incredible seems to have been patched by the latest OTA update, but that hasn’t stopped the unrevoked team from jumping on it immediately. Last night they let the world know that they are only a day or two away from bringing freedom to those that have a stock OTA’d DI. Pretty quick turn around right?
It looks like the the new OTA update for the Droid Incredible has patched the old root exploit that unrevoked 3.21 was taking advantage of. What exactly does that mean? For those holding out to root or for some reason had to swap out your old DI for a replacement, you are out of luck in the rooting department for the time being. Give it a day or two though and I’m sure the unrevoked team will attack it and bring peace back to Earth.
Unrevoked 3.2 returns as version 3.21, has undergone some major testing and is ready for your use in dropping the rooting hammer on your Droid Incredible. After what appeared to be a few hiccups when used on a few devices, the team that has been dominating HTC products for months now seems to have smoothed it all out.
So who’s ready? An entire Incredible rooting guide has been setup at our forums to help you out. Unrevoked has also put together a nice FAQ plus the correct HBOOT drivers you’ll need to accomplish this task.

For anyone that’s rooted a DI, please drop your tips in the comments to help the newcomers out!
Droid Incredible owners have been asking for a 2.2 rooting method for quite some time now and the unrevoked team has come through again. This should work with a stock Android 2.2, stock, straight-out-of-the-box Incredible. And since this rooting method falls under the “1-click” category, I’ll let you know now that the most painful part of the process is simply getting the correct drivers on your PC and phone. Once you get those set up, it really does take just one click.
To help you get your drivers installed, check out the following from an XDA Forums thread…
1. Windows users MUST install the HBOOT drivers for this to work: http://www.unrevoked.com/rootwiki/do…driver_install
2. Windows users need to uninstall HTC Sync or any other program that might talk to the phone over USB (doubletwist, etc). Disabling HTC Sync from the system tray is not enough. They interfere with the root process and will cause problems.
3. When asked for USB connection type, select “Charge Only” and “Remember this”.
This Wiki may also help.
And once you have all that setup, head over to unrevoked to grab the 1-click file!
(The method was pulled last night due to an EVO issues, but should be back shortly, if it’s not already.)
