Tipsters sure do love next Thursday. A new rumor has popped up pegging November 11th as the date for the Gingerbread (Android 2.3) SDK to go live which matches up to all of the rumors surrounding the Nexus S and Samsung’s event on the 8th. At this point, another rumor is another rumor and we’ll just have to wait until the 11th to see if this holds up. Google to my knowledge doesn’t actually announce dates for their Android releases, so we’ll know for sure when the SDK goes live on their site and they start tweeting about it.
Rumor: Android 2.3 Gingerbread SDK Coming November 11th?
Wednesday Poll: Trade in your DROID for the Nexus S?
We all know that Samsung is announcing a new Android device on November 8th and are pretty sure it will be the Continuum, but we’re still holding out hope that they will also include news of the Nexus S (Nexus Two?). This is the phone that will replace the Nexus One as Google’s developer phone, should include a front facing camera, could run Android 2.3 first, and sport slightly better specs than the rest of the Galaxy S line of smartphones. It should be one heck of a device.
What we want to know though, is if you would be willing to ditch the “DROID” brand for this new beast should it land on Verizon? I know the Fascinate received some pretty mixed reviews from our readers, so we’re expecting some good opinions on this one as well.
Samsung Nexus Two Announced on the 8th or Not? Maybe Just Continuum?
There are blog battles going on right now over the thought of Samsung announcing the Nexus Two (or Nexus S?) on November 8th and we wanted to fill you in, plus get your opinion on the situation. Is this announcement really going down or not? Will it just be the Continuum? We’re still leaning towards it happening, and it really just comes down to a battle of sources.
Samsung Announcing the Nexus Two on November 8th?
Update: Most people are pretty sure that it’s still going to be the Continuum which we thought back when this date was announced. Oh well, was worth some good chatter.
News sort of blew up last night over a couple of subjects. First was about the Droid 2 update which looks to set the device a slight step ahead of the Droid X in software versions and will include some neat little features like the ability to set a contact picture from your gallery. The second bit of news might have been even bigger and was announced on the air during Radio Android’s weekly show, having to do with the Nexus Two. An anonymous tipster sent info to their hosts claiming that Samsung would be announcing the follow-up to the Nexus One in their press event which is happening on November 8th in NYC.
Google Readies Nexus One Follow-up, Launching by Christmas?
Has Google already created the follow-up device to its Nexus One? According to reports today from the UK, the Nexus Two (we’ll call it) is built, loaded with Gingerbread, and will be sold exclusively through Carphone Warehouse by X-mas. (Who?) A company based out of the UK, meaning if this rumor is true, Google must already have some plans to hook up with a U.S. retailer to distribute this puppy stateside, right?
