Verizon has been on a tear so far this month updating many devices, although some of which may not be completely headline grabbing. We still feel its important for the info to get out there for folks to see, just incase you are rocking one of these devices. (more…)
The LG Intuition (aka the Vu) is set to receive its first update as a phone on Verizon’s network. The new build number for the update is VS95011B and includes a number of fixes and enhancements. An email split view has been added to the email app, spearkerphone parameters have been tweaked, Color and V CAST were removed, the Amazon Appstore has been added (weird), along with some other minor tweaks.
The update is 204.5MB in size.
Does anyone own this phone?
Talk over the last day has been all about Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 that will reportedly arrive on all U.S. carriers, including Verizon. But let’s not forget, that there is another tablet-phone hybrid in the game that is available today. The LG Intuition (known as the Optimus Vu abroad) can be purchased from Big Red for $199 on new 2-year contract.
With its 5″ display (4:3 ratio), 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 8MP rear camera, and Ice Cream Sandwich, this device doesn’t sound awful on paper. Before deciding to purchase one, we definitely recommend that you get one in your hands, though. It’s big, folks. Like, awkward in your hands, big.
We spent a few minutes with it in May at CTIA and came away confused. I personally, can’t imagine carrying this around as my daily device, but if a purse or “messenger” bag is always attached to you, this may be something to look at. Actually, you should probably wait until the Note 2 is out so that you can compare the two.
Verizon and LG finally made the Intuition official this morning, giving it an online launch date of September 6, with in-store availability coming the following week on September 10. The device will run $199 on new 2-year contract and have the ability to connect to Big Red’s ever-growing 4G LTE network.
For those that haven’t followed the story of the Intuition (known as the Optimus Vu overseas), simply think of it as a phone/tablet hybrid. With a 5″ HD display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP camera, 1.3MP front camera, NFC chip, and Ice Cream Sandwich, it’s got everything you could ever ask for in a phone on the spec front. The only thing you have to sell to yourself is the odd 4:3 aspect ratio on the display, and the fact that it’s unbelievably awkward to hold. Is it a phone or a tablet?
The device also includes a Rubberdium pen, a suite of office apps, is business-ready, and is currently the option if a 5″ device is something you have been dying to have. If you would like to see the phone in action, be sure to check out our first look from CTIA in May. (more…)
It has been over a month since we last did a rumor round-up, but since things are going to get wild starting tomorrow and then on through the month of September, we thought it was the perfect time to bring this series back. Motorola has big plans for next week, Samsung has a Note 2 on the way, there are Nexus rumors with manufacturer names attached, HTC still has a 1080p phone out there, and LG has a number of devices in the works. Again, it’s going to be busy. (more…)
More images of the LG Intuition (previously known as the Optimus Vu) have leaked onto the web. From previous posts, we are still expecting a release on Verizon sometime this quarter and we also know the device will launch for $199 on a new two year agreement and have a full retail price of $549. In the mean time, let’s have some speculation fun. See the date on the widget? “9/15/2012″ Oh my, is that the release date? We shall have to wait and see.
With the Intuition being Big Red’s first huge display-rockin’ device, any thoughts on how popular it will be? Would love to hear your thoughts on this monster.

It’s no secret that Verizon has plans to introduce LG’s big ol’ Optimus Vu here in the States. After all, it already cruised through the FCC, showed up in the wild in an entire gallery of pictures, and was outed as arriving this quarter in an LG press release. Today, we received additional info to add to that pile of evidence.
According to our sources, the Optimus Vu will change to the LG Intuition when Verizon announces it in the coming weeks. Once available, you will be able to pick one up for $199 on new 2-year contract or $549 at full retail.
With its 5″ display, this will be the first mega-phone to be released on Verizon, you know, since they skipped out on the Galaxy Note. After this phone, the world is sort of expecting HTC to bring it all home with their own 5″ device, only it will sport a 1080p display, something the Intuition can’t match.
