With unveiling reported to be scheduled for MWC, we are getting mighty close to the G6 from LG. As we get closer to major device launches, we tend to see all sorts of content, such as spec leaks and CAD renders, with the G6 being spared from none of this. In a video posted to YouTube by DBS Designing, a concept artist provides their take on what we should expect to see from LG in 2017. (more…)
Thanks to recent events surrounding the Galaxy Note 7, many companies are taking every precaution they can to ensure that the phones they ship won’t end up as hand grenades. This, of course, is a good thing. According to the latest out of Korea, LG is going the extra mile in testing the upcoming G6, even going beyond the international standards of the US and Europe. LG will announce the G6 at MWC, I think it’s safe to say that that much has been confirmed. We know that the LG G6 will feature a 5.7-inch QHD LCD display with a weird, but could be cool 18:9 aspect ratio, and slim bezels. We also know that LG has ditched the module idea from last year’s G5 and will instead try to make the prettiest of pretty devices. But what else is coming in this year’s flagship from LG? It’s a new year, meaning we have new flagship devices for the first half of 2017 to look forward to! If I’m not mistaken, we should be seeing the next big launches from Samsung, LG, and HTC rather soon, so we’d like to gauge which company’s flagship you’re most looking forward to.
For Samsung, the Galaxy S8 will be the first major launch since the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, so if you ask me, they’ve got to bring the heat. The LG G6 is expected to ditch the G5’s modularity, so that has me interested. And, as you may have seen, I recently posted up what I’d like to see from HTC, but it’s looking like they aren’t listening to me (courage aka headphone jack).
We also have devices from Moto (mid-2017), Sony (who knows exactly when), and other OEM (Huawei, Honor, ZTE, etc.) launches to look forward to. It should be a really exciting first half of 2017 for Android fans.
Reports suggesting LG will reveal and then launch the G6 earlier than any of its past G-series flagships, continue to pile up. At this point, I think we should all be surprised if the G6 doesn’t launch before mid-March, weeks earlier than last year’s G5. In the latest out of ETnews, LG has confirmed that the phone will be unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in late February. (more…)
LG has already confirmed to the world that last year’s G5 with its modules wasn’t exactly a hit and that with the upcoming G6, they put their focus into making a phone that is great in the aesthetics department. Last night, LG Display gave us an idea as to where at least one of those improvements would start – with the display. (more…)
