When it comes to Hollywood and the scores of crap they regularly push, an Angry Birds movie might possibly be the single most original thought to ever leave Tinseltown. End sarcasm. Hitting theaters in May, Rovio has been hyping Angry Birds Action! inside of Google Play for the past couple of weeks. And while having a new Angry Birds game is already awesome enough, much more importantly, players can unlock Piggy Island to watch an “exclusive” clip from the upcoming movie.
As for gameplay, Angry Birds Action! is not a throwback to when the franchise was any good. Instead, it’s a game based off of the movie characters, including Red, Chuck, and Bomb. Instead of a platformer slingshot type of game, you are met by a pinball layout, with the player shooting characters at various objects to break them. It’s the same overall feel as the OG Angry Birds games, but definitely different in terms of looks. (more…)
Angry Birds 2, the long awaited sequel to the original Angry Birds, is now available on Google Play for all to experience. Rovio made folks wait a few solid years for this release, and if the Google Play and iTunes ratings are any indicator, it appears the publisher did a solid job.
Much like the original and all of the following variants, your main goal is to destroy structures made by piggies. At the beginning of each level, you were given a lineup up different birds to use, but now, it appears you must earn different “cards” of birds to use their various powers to destroy the homes of pigs. These cards can be used in any order you see fit, making the game more of a strategy title than just a plain slingshot game. (more…)
Rovio has a new game available on Google Play for players in the US, titled Angry Birds Fight! In this game, which looks like a mashup of Mortal Kombat and Bejeweled, you rank up characters through various color matching puzzle levels, then fight other players with your characters in real-time. These players are all around the world, as Rovio has created a global bird-fighting network for people to enjoy. (more…)
Temporarily exclusive to iOS, the latest in the Angry Birds franchise from game maker Rovio, Angry Birds Transformers, is now available on Android for free.
The game appears to be a side-scrolling, endless-runner-like blow-em-up affair, with Angry Birds characters being used as Transformers. There are vehicles, upgrades, an option to tag team with friends, and a roster of heroes with unique attacks and abilities that can be unlocked. If you read that a certain way, like I just did, that can only mean one thing – massive in-app purchases. And sure enough, the Google Play listing suggests that there are in-app purchases ranging from $4.99 to $99. (more…)
The official gameplay trailer for Angry Birds Transformers has been released by Rovio, with the game now available to those who live in New Zealand and Finland. Unfortunately for us Android users who live in America, the game is not set to hit Google Play until October 30, but at least this trailer gives us something to look forward to. (more…)
Rovio was at Comic-Con this week, teasing its newest upcoming title, Angry Bird Transformers. The game has yet to be given a release date, having been first teased back in June, but we guess it will arrive sometime in the Fall of this year. After coming down from its Star Wars partnership, it will be interesting to see if Rovio can continue momentum for its Angry Birds titles with the Transformers franchise. (more…)
A week or so ago, Rovio began teasing and soft releasing a new Angry Birds title, named Angry Birds Epic. The game is already available for those of you who live in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, but for the rest of us, we are still waiting to see what exactly to expect from AB: Epic.
From what we see in the trailer for the game that was released today, it’s a role-playing game, one which will take your forces of either birds or piggies, and then pit them against one another in a fictional world where these things are plausible. (more…)
The gaming juggernaut that Rovio created is coming back for another round. A teaser video for a new Angry Birds game went live on their YouTube channel today, but it doesn’t explain much. What we do know is that there will most certainly be birds and they are definitely still angry. (more…)
