Facebook Messenger is rolling out a major update for Android, one that brings a native camera experience, meaning faster captures and built-in effects that will have Snapchat running for the hills.

Once the app is updated (rolling out globally over the next few days), users will see a shutter button front and center on the bottom, meaning quick access to your camera. From here, snapping photos or creating videos should be much smoother, and once you have your shot, editing is also made easier.

If you are trying to be a bit more festive, the Messenger team has also bit in a ton of 3D effects and filters, just like you’d see on Snapchat. For example, if looking like a reindeer or having snow fall around you is something you desire, Messenger has you covered.

To get started, simply make sure you are running the latest update to Messenger, then have at it.
