Chrome Wants to Emojify the Internet, Now Available on Android

chrome emoji

The best April Fools’ pranks from Google are the ones that you can actually participate in. (Anyone remember 8-bit Google Maps?) Thanks to today’s shenanigans, you can add Emoji translate for Chrome to the short list of awesome, over-the-top, pranks that are best enjoyed with user participation.

As the Chrome team explains it, using Chrome on Android or iOS today will allow you to translate the web “using efficient and emotive illustrations, instead of cumbersome text.” Damn, text. So cumbersome. Like the brilliant Egyptians, your world can be read through pictures and symbols that cut out all of the fluff.

To check out how Chrome translates the web into emoji, be sure you have the latest version of Chrome (beta works too). Tap the menu button and choose “Translate to Emoji.”

Cheers Mike, Josh, Ryan, William, Jerry, Dirk, Kyle, Robert, and Luke!

My April Fools was the staged rollouts of these updated apps

“What we’re really looking towards improving is emoji support for complex emotions, like laughing so hard you’re crying…and you’re a cat.”

The downside of staged-rollouts … many users won’t see the updates until later this week or even next week. Well after April 1st, when they would be most fitting.

Thanks to Google Apps delayed app update rollouts, I may have this by next week. Thanks Google.

The “Fuzzy Feeling” emoji is definitely an upside down ball sack.

The April fools are Verizon customers waiting for OS updates (Looks down at G2 and sighs…).

Also Galaxy Note 3, which to my estimation, won’t be this year.

        add the galaxy S4 too.

    • The Narrator

I’d rather Verizon take their time before effing it up, but it does suck waiting sometimes.

      • Dave

I’m not that concerned with bragging about what operating system version I have. It does everything I need it too, not sure what is really going to be added it anyway. Know what I mean?

        • The Narrator

That’s true too. 4.4.2 wasn’t that much of a major update. when 4.5 roles around or 5.0, who knows how long Verizon will take

          • Mike Aurin

I briefly thought about the idea that maybe Verizon and Samsung were just going to push right through to the 4.4.3 update since they waited this long…and then I giggled myself back to reality and kept scrolling through the stock wallpapers of hot air balloons on my S4
