Verizon Posts/Pulls “HTC One Offer” Promo Video, Posts “All New HTC One” Teaser Page

Last week, we first reported that Verizon would more than likely be selling the “All New HTC One” shortly after HTC announces it at a press event tomorrow in New York City. The day following our report, Big Red stores began posting signage that hinted at customers wanting to “hit refresh” at 1PM Eastern (10AM Pacific) on the 25th, all but confirming the phone’s availability, if anything, through online sales.

Today, Verizon posted both a teaser on their website suggesting the same thing, plus an “HTC One Offer” video on YouTube that was immediately pulled. In fact, it was pulled so quickly that I didn’t have a chance to watch or download it. But knowing what we have in-store for tomorrow, I can only image that video was a promo for the new One, not last year’s model. The offer appears to be combined with Verizon’s new More Everything plans.

I know you are probably sick of the hypebeasting, but you have to admit that HTC may make a phone available minutes after announcing it is pretty cool.

Ubber Camera Fail? A 2MP & 4MP “Ultra-Pixel” on the back isn’t a step forward imo, the bezels aren’t the best, & the soft keys obviously look/work kinda janky. Plus a 2wk VZW exclusive is the nail in the coffin for me. I’ll wait till after Google I/O in hopes for some GPE handsets.

I wonder what this Verizon exclusivity is

  • Sourabh Sekhar

And it will come with a free verizon logo on the left and a huge ass 4G LTE symbol on the right
oh did i mention the verizon logo on the back?

  • Kyle

Saw this on Facebook this weekend….does it mean that Verizon will be exclusive?

    • Nathan Bryant

For a couple of weeks or so.

    • Got to love that black bar menu button. /s
Glad to see it becoming a thing of the past!

    • Richard Giordano

maybe at launch Verizon will have it exclusively but im pretty sure down the road the other carriers will get it.

  • Derek L.

Anyone have a mirror of the video?

So, any guesses on availability at/from VZW? My guess is announcement tomorrow with online orders immediately, with in-store availability this Thursday. This would allow orders placed tomorrow to have deliveries made with 2 day shipping coincide with in-store pickup.

    • Tom Craig

I just called my local store, and phrased it as “word on the street is that the new HTC One will be releasing on Verizon immediately following the announcement tomorrow. If it does indeed launch tomorrow, will you have stock in store and be prepared to start selling immediately, or would it be online orders only while stock is shipped to retail locations?”

The sales rep’s answer was that “hypothetically, if they are to announce the launch is tomorrow, we are prepared to start selling immediately. If they do indeed go with tomorrow, we WILL have units that we can sell tomorrow.”

      • tylerc23

This is what I figured. Now my question is, because I’m buying off contract, should I buy it online immediately or should I wait a day or 2 and maybe buy it a little cheaper off of some site

      • wise_guy69

That’s very encouraging news. VZW historically has had some pretty bad launches, hopefully this one goes better.

Waiting for the GS5 to make the final decision on what to EDGE. But, this is a definite possibility!

  • possomcrast1

I’ll probably end up getting this with the Early Edge program. It looks to be a fantastic device.

  • Chippah

Meh,.. the only way I’d bite is if they offered it for FREE on contract, to pull the ol’
“free on contract – open a new line and cancel it, move phone to UNLIMITED date line gag.”

  • Lake

Just called my local store, they have the phone in stock ready to go for tomorrow. Think I am going to go by and see if I can get them to sell me one.

    • JetBlk

Let us know how you make out if you do!

    • Nathan Bryant

Take a picture of it at least. There is a Verizon store right behind house. I might check them out tomorrow after class.

      • tylerc23

There going to have it tomorrow 100%, nothing really to check

        • jason w.s.

          Dwight Schrute, everybody.

          • Weber

False. Dwight Schrute would use correct grammar and spelling.

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

WORD IS….. VZW will have a 2 week exclusive release period. That news popped up over the weekend. What are we hearing about this guys?

    • MichaelFranz

would this be to make up for taking 6 months to carry the 2013 HTC One?….either way its a dumb move to have a carrier exclusive right away even if it is only 2 weeks

      • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

I think 2 weeks is negligible seeing that the phone is dropping on Day 1 and that’s not usual. We’d probably be waiting at least 2 weeks during a regular release anyway. 2 weeks would still put them in front of the April 11th gun samsung is holding

        • jnt

If the 2 week thing is true, it means Verizon will likely be doing their own marketing push for it during that time period, and subtly mentioning they are the first to have it. This is good for HTC ultimately, but I agree, negligible big picture.

        • Nathan Bryant

I agree. Two weeks is normal anyway because Apple does the same. Pre-order on the same week launched and in your hands the second week.

  • htowngtr

If they had a “developer edition” for VZW then that’d be cool. Otherwise, meh.

    • Franz

They probably will. It will come 8 months from now when no one will care anymore.

    • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Honestly, if it’s a dev edition you want just buy the thing unlocked from HTC. Unless you have unlimted data with VZW there’s no reason be begging them for anything because they don’t care.

      • htowngtr

The only unlocked HTC was for GSM, not CDMA.

        • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

That’s my point. No need to be begging VZW for something that doesn’t benefit them. They just don’t care. Unless you have unlimited Verizon’s CDMA trap is worthless. Free yourself. GSM. 🙂

          • htowngtr

            I do have unlimited.

          • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Well I guess you gotta keep begging them.

          • Gato Mafioso

Almost a year after signing up with Verizon and I wish I had gone GSM. More device options, improving coverage, and no hideous Verizon logos. For now Verizon’s coverage is still unmatched out in the boonies but most of my time is spent in the city so it’s not much of an issue.

          • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

For the most part I think VZW and At&t are toe to toe. I went prepaid gophone and it’s been very liberating. I look at devices releases with much more excitement then when I had to “Wait and See” if Verizon would get the phone and how long it would take. I just pick the device Ilike, sell current device, and buy the new one.

          • Gato Mafioso

Yeah definitely much more freedom with a GSM carrier. I’m not in a hurry to leave Verizon but it is something to look forward to once my contract is up.

    • HypeBeatWhatWhat

I thought I recall reading a GPE release to be likely

      • rawr

Isn’t the camera and gesture gimmicks reliant on Sense? GPE would just leave you with a mega bezel and 4mp camera.
