Smart Cube – The Accessory That Makes the Android-powered NX Camera Pointless

YouTube Preview Image

There are many pro photographers out there that are using “dumb” cameras. There is no easy way for these trained professionals to take their stunning images, upload them to the cloud or edit them on the fly, without first having to import them to the computer. With the newly introduced Smart Cube, now even the dumbest of DSLR cameras can be “smart.”

Thanks to Smart Cube, you won’t have to worry about investing in the $1600 Galaxy NX or the $500+ Galaxy Camera. Just hook up your existing camera to the Smart Cube, and boom, instant access to thousands of Android apps, 3G/4G/WiFi connectivity and other great features for sharing your work.

Sure, it’s a little bulky and doesn’t even exist, but we thought it was funny. Well played, Smart Cube team.

    is this labor day prank?

  • Tony Rivera

hahahaha FUNNY video. Anyways IF this was a real product then u’ll b f-ing crazy if you think that carrying a stupid heavy box on TOP of the heavy dslr is a great idea hahahaha I prefer to get the NX and carry JUST that with me :))

  • TSON1

I’m ashamed to say I actually thought this was real until I saw the lady carrying it.

  • Spider210

run! hes got a smart bomb… i mean cube

  • M C

id like to see if anyone actually gets 1 if they exist. this should be changed to submit photos of yourself with a smart cube taking pictures …

  • CasperTFG

I rushed in here to read comments after seeing that girl with the strap on cube.

  • Alain Lafond

Really, sure it’s a joke… Would walk with that ridicule big box at your belt. But sure it’s a good way to call for attention… Loved it…

  • SchwannyT

“Its large and bulky but I consider it carry on”

  • GJV

    Is it April 1st?

    • RavnosCC

I had a very difficult time believing this was real….

  • kenkeyessr

    Great idea.
Like any idea it’s all in the marketing of the idea.
I’m sure the end product is not shown on this silly video.

  • bboyairwreck

Lolll pretty funny. But actually on a more serious note, EyeFi (the sd card that has a WiFi transmitter) is a pretty good solution for uploading. I admire the DL humor btw Tim =P

  • Nick Knack

Sure can tell that all of the posters on here didn’t read the article all the way to the end.

  • Philip A. Kaiser

Wow, lot of comments from the folks who park in blue spaces at the grocery store in here.

  • ImmaDroid

This has got to be a joke, right? Its look like someone carrying around a big subwoofer everywhere you go..

    • Tom Z

“big subwoofer” Now that would be useful…

      • ImmaDroid

lol, more useful than this. switching an sd card from camera to phone would be quicker and cheaper. Much less bulky as well!

      • michael arazan

You definitely need a sub woofer for a Galaxy nexus.

  • sralj

It’ll be a Kickstarter in a day or two.

  • jt

wait… is this serious? Please tell me this is a joke.

    • gm__

Just as serious as the BBC report on the spaghetti harvest in Italy! Google that one.

  • Travis Erickson

    Pre-Ordered!

  • jeradc

  • http://www.greenless.com Lex Lybrand

    • techman

Sorry I said this with out looking at the pic post but hey I was on the right track DER

  • Yakuzahi

They couldn’t make it a little bit bigger?

  • Tyler Durden

That’s great. Still looking forward to the NX

  • BSweetness

    Eh, not very funny.

As for the real issue here, it’s actually pretty simple if you’re going to carry a dedicated camera and your phone. If I’m out somewhere and I know I’ll want to share pictures fairly quickly that I take with a dedicated camera, I carry a short miniUSB cable (or microUSB depending on the camera) and a USB OTG cable with me. With those, I can hook my camera directly up to my phone, import the photos I want, edit, and share away. It’s simple, quick, and I don’t have to compromise on camera quality or on phone quality (plus I can use any number of different devices).

  • Spencer Morris

hey so not trying to hijack the thread, just curious, where does everybody go to buy a phone off contract. I’m jumping from verizon.

    • tyguy829

verizon for new phones or swappa for used ones

  • Mike Hilal

    Just excellent.

  • http://thebeeobee.com/ thebeeobee

  • OrangeAttack

  • BhaktaRB

  • Nicholas Hrycun

    It’s like d**k in a box.

    • Aron Tripp

      +1+1+1+1

    • Brandon Golway

Step 1: Cut a hole in the box…

  • hereIam2

    wtf did I just watch?

  • Matthew DiGiacomo

I can’t tell from your post is this an actual device or a joke?

    • http://www.toysdiva.com Toys Samurai

I don’t even need to read further or finish the video to tell that it’s a joke. Current technology can pretty much shrink all these features into a device the size of an USB stick, why would anyone release a “SmartCube”?

    • fauxshizzl

“Sure, it’s a little bulky and doesn’t even exist, but we thought it was funny. Well played, Smart Cube team.” Didn’t give it away?

    • michael arazan

At first I thought this was the new gadget that took your 35 mm film and converted it to store on your pc or in the cloud
