Ingress Receives Update to 1.26, Brings Added Notifications and Portal Info

Ingress

This afternoon, Google and the team at Niantic Labs pushed out a major update for their hit game, Ingress. Inside the update, version number 1.26, information on portal health and faction controls are placed in the inventory carousel, as well the much-needed addition of notifications for portal attacks, neutralization and @codename messages.

If you still have yet to try out Ingress, make sure to head to their forums and request as it is still a closed beta application.

What’s New:

  • Portal health and faction control info on Portal Keys in the Inventory carousel.
  • Android Notifications for “Portal under attack,” “Portal neutralized,” and “@<codename>” messages.
  • Support for Jarvis Virus and ADA Refactor objects.
  • New Recharge visual animation.
  • Bug fixes

There was a huge fight over the campus of North Carolina State the other day. Resistance lost though :(

I like the concept, but honestly, I have had trouble getting into the game. I know lots of people love it, though. It seems kind of slow paced to me and finding conveniently located portals has been a pain. It just seems sort of tedious to me.

Played for a week with the resistance. I have 5 portals in my complex. When i first was walking around to them all the first few days i thought i was being followed. it was just 2 cars with 8 people of the enlightened.

Level 8 Enlightened here. Love this game, Love the changes they have been making. I play for an hour everyday (except when there is a farming event). Can’t wait to use a Jarvis Virus.

Started playing Jan 21st and have a large group out here in Arizona for the Resistance. We have over 200+ members and lots of group activities. I’m coming up on “L10″ here and would like to see the new levels released.

I work hell hours as a car salesman and got my girlfriend to play with me so it’s how we spend most of our spare time lol

Been playing close to a year now, very early player. Lvl 8 for awhile, seen many come and go. The fun is not only while you work your way up to 8, but afterwards; strategy, and team playing, especially in the last few weeks after server-side changes made. Most are not liking portal data in the carousel, as it is now too easy to see if the enemy (both sides) are creating a higher level portal farm. However that said in my area it has gone from myself to well over 35 people, all now working as a team, getting together and having fun, seeing new locations, meeting up with other faction members from other cities, other than the gas and time in this economy, it has been rewarding for all the people I’ve come into contact with.

The game has only been out 6 months.

I tried playing it a week or two ago, and it just… never seemed to work well or properly or something. I could walk multiple blocks and not move on the map. And when I did get near something, even after doing the walkthrough, I just… didn’t understand what to do. Might be that it’s just not my kind of game, but did anyone else get a big “Ok, what am I supposed to do now?” feeling out of it?

    • Maisy

Yes, I did. I thought it would be fun, but I too never really got it. Perhaps I didn’t research enough about it…..

  • coolsilver

I got started last week. It’s fun though I was getting frustrated I wasn’t getting portal keys as often as I thought I should for friendly portals. Should be Level 2 in another day or so. Kinda odd trying to find parking and things for some these portals.

  • FAL_Fan

Still level 7, started playing in January, then been too busy with work to play except for random field destruction. Enlightened forever though!

Thinking about starting up. Get the kids involved and go for “walks”.

If anything, it gets us all out of the house an milling about outside, right?

  • cjohn4043

It was fun for the first week…

    • Jeff718

For me it was fun through the first week of being level 8.

Does Ingress work with Friends with benefits app? = P

    • NIGHTSCOUT

I was bored as soon as I installed it. I’m sorry Google, but I have a job, and a LIFE, I don’t have time for your stupid augmented game. Give me something that will make my life easier, not harder….

    • Higher_Ground

I was really excited about it the entire time I was waiting for them to finally let me in the beta…
and by the time they got around to it I had completely lost interest.
