Download: Google Play Store Version 4.0.26

new google play

Last week, the new Google Play version 4.0 became available and then slowly rolled out to users who chose not to manually update. Late last night, another update began pushing as build 4.0.26. It’s incredibly minor, as one would expect with the previous version being 4.0.25. You can grab it below if your device hasn’t updated already.

never got this pushed to my gnex

  • FknTwizted

it flows nice however, it is too busy and it detracts from most things.

  • AndyMP

Anyone got this for the Nexus 7?

  • Kheir Francis

not a big fan of the new one, I much prefer the last one

  • kazulk

funny thing is that 4.0 still hasnt been pushed to any of the 8 devices in my house. I might have to update them manuely

  • BDY

This is a huge update for me. When I was running 4.0.25, nothing was on the “Home page” of the play store app only the icons for Apps, Games, etc. But now it has all the pics and recommendation stuff. Cheers

Every time I DL on my N4 there is a problem parsing the package. What up with that?

  • Kosma Bakier

My nexus 10 & galaxy nexus still haven’t gotten anything. Push to nexus devices please, that’s why I bought them.

The update didn’t get pushed to my SGS3 for some reason, so thanks for the DL link. Very nice design improvements, seems to follow the Android style guidelines pretty well. I like that, even if there’s only one app update available, it’s now a 1 tap deal to update, where before if there were multiple things to update you could update with 1 tap, but a single update took multiple taps.

    • droidrazredge

You had the same problem too ? I’m wondering how many others have this issue and why a 4 year old device I don’t use and rarely is on WiFi gets updated to 4.20.26

  • droidrazredge

Why does my old Droid X with just WiFi connectivity (like an ipod) have the new PlayStore updated before my Droid Razr Maxx which has a data package and I use everyday? Should I just give up and manually install the PlayStore ?

    • bakdroid

Go straight to .26. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

I already have this version on my phone. My stock Nexus 7 is still on the old Play Store though. I am waiting to see how long it’s going to take for the automatic update.

  • rei_load

    My Bionic already has .26

This device has pretty much been given a new life the past few days

I just got the new look on my Motorola Droid (Which i use like an iPod) yesterday, i’m still getting used to the new layout.

  • zombiewolf115

i feel like this update caped my download speed cause on version 3 i used to download 100 mb apps in seconds now it takes 10 minutes =.=

    • CivilDroid

Some apps are like that for me too. It took 23 minutes on LTE to update Chrome…weird

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Why did they think this app was a better idea? I don’t like the layout better than the previous at all. Why don’t the pictures cache… Why can’t I just scroll top to bottom without loading pictures!!!

    • michael arazan

Yes, the other was nice, looks like they are trying to cram more stuff in the same space making it look cluttered

  • Inquizitor

Just checked and I already had it, haha.

    • derek connolly

Same Im also already on 4.0.26 – Gnex

  • Lucky Armpit

Yup, same here, my phone Razr Maxx got the update automatically. I’m at .26. My TF101 tablet is still on the old Play Store… might need to do it manually.

    • bakdroid

My Xoom refused to update from the old as well. Not sure if it is an old tab issue or not that they are blocking updates or whether they are just the last to be rolled out to. Do the manual update, it is worth it.

      • Lucky Armpit

Will do, thanks. I love the fact that we can FINALLY delete our history and get rid of apps we don’t use/want/need/care about!

all your new posts make me want a HTC One even more. Easily the nicest looking phone out right now

    • http://twitter.com/SparkysShocker SparkysShocker

It looks like the BB z10

  • Daniel

Ugh, I hate that the “Update” and “Uninstall” buttons are stacked on top of each other on the right now, rather than side-by-side, it is way harder to hit the correct button, whereas before they were more spread out giving larger targets!

    • Tom Ball

I agree. This new layout is terrible.

      • Braves

        Totally agree. Everything looks pale!

      • maxomatic

Really? Other than the “Update” “Uninstall” button issue and the continuing lack of a “Purchased Apps” list, I think the new version is pretty nice.

    • mx

Yup. Complete UI fail. In addition to that, the buttons are smaller than the previous version. I guess the play store app gets the B team.

  • Guest

    I haven’t even gotten 4.0.25 yet

  • http://www.facebook.com/dnuj88 Dirk Unger

I’m still on 3, how can I trigger the update?

    • Justin Winker

Download it from the listing above. I didn’t do this for my Bionic (but did for my Nexus devices, both 4 and 10), and my Bionic just got it yesterday (though I just turned it on the day before from a few months’ retirement).

  • Patrick

Maybe the play icon launches from the app drawer.

  • Flyinion

Huh, looks like it already pushed to mine. Settings/about shows .26. I manually installed the .25 version last weekend.

  • daveloft

this version, unlike the last one seems to be working perfectly on my Galaxy Nexus in Canada.

  • Radgatt

    What’s different?

    • EvanTheGamer

Not much is different in this update, as pointed out by Kellex in the above post.
