Question of the Day: What ROM are You Currently Running?

Years ago, we were able to run this question as a poll, since there were only a few handsets to choose from along with a few ROM developers who had work worth sampling. These days, there are far too many phones and even more developers that this can only be asked in the form of a question that directs you to the comments. Yep, we’re talking about our regularly scheduled “What ROM are you currently running?” post. We’ve had a number of readers ask for it a handful of times over the last couple of weeks, so we figured it was time to oblige.

So as usual, we’ll simply ask, “What ROM are you currently running?” But after you answer that question, make sure you give us device type, why you chose this specific ROM, and then include any other add-on that you have attached to your setup. People want to know what’s hot on the streets these days – give as much detail as you can.

  • Josh Sleeper

Jelly Belly v9.3 since I haven’t updated in a while, but the latest is v11.1

  • Indiana Jonze

  • aokp 4.2 build 1/3/13 from Kasp3rd on my T-Mobile GSIII

  • Dean Milord

On my Verizon Galaxy Nexus (toro) I’m running Aokp’s JB-MR1 Build 1. POwer of the unicorns – lost many kitties today ;D

  • cole hartman

Stock un-rooted Galaxy note 2 (still working up the strength to root it)

  • Pengwn

Gnex is rocking xenonHD apocalypse edition and the Nexus 7 is running today’s CM 10.1 nightly. Loving both of them!

  • Mathew Colburn

Beans town Build 8 on the S3 and bone dry stock on the N7

  • NicholasMicallef

CM 10.1 for SGS II and Nexus 7, I just use it because it’s simple and quite stable. I’m currently trying out Seeder, it’s very fast but battery on my SGS II seems to have taken a hit.

  • ndog21

CM 10.1 for toro it’s fast not many bugs running clockwork mod touch recovery.

  • Rickerbilly

Beans Town, Jelly Beans – VZW Note 2

  • cmorty72

CM 10 on my OGD and Arctic HD on my Razr (not the fastest, but one of the most stable that’s great on battery power).

  • Chris

Newt’s One XxX ROM for the HTC Rezound.

He is currently working on Jellybean too 😀

    • ozo012

I’m on Nils’ Business Sense 4.0 but I may make the switch. How much on-screen time do you get?

      • Chris

Well it starts off terrible for me. But after a few days it’s really good. I’m sort of a moderate user, sometimes heavy, but I normally text and make phone calls and update and download apps and check email and stuff.

But I normally get around 5 or 6 hours of screen time? I have an extended battery though!

  • Tyler

This post really makes me want to fix my Gnex! Right now im running stock rom i found but plan on flashing something soon, just been busy. Also need to fix the 3-5 minute boot times from using ICS bootloader/other stuff(just need to flash back ICS and let verizon update my phone).

  • John Anderson

    CM 10.1

  • Nexus 4 – Stock 4.2.1 rooted. I was running CM 10.1 (which was running fine aside from Wallet and no DRM engine for Hulu+), but reverted back to stock to track down a data-connectivity issue I’ve been having in my area.

  • RSS

MMuzzy 4.2.1 on my gnex (Toro). Works great!

  • tomn1ce

At the moment I’m on XenonHD 4.2.1 build on my toro and downloading AOKP 4.2.1 BD1 as I type….I have tried a few ROMs over the weekend and wifi tethering didn’t work on any of them…M3 Commotio, MMuzzyROM, XenonHD and I can’t remember if CyanenMod 10 was broken as well but I couldn’t customize the nav buttons like I wanted to so I replaced it with XenonHD. Which I later found out that wifi tethering was also broken on this one as well…I always wondered why people would move from ROM to rom so often now I see why…All these changes were done over the past week or so.

  • Bill Toto

Clean ROM 5.5.1. VZW GS3. Battery life is great!

  • rocs_macho

JB Sourcery vers. 4.1 (Android 4.2.1), Toro. Other than a laggy camera, I haven’t had any issues with it. I’m patiently waiting for an update to CNA.

  • CM10.1 unofficial Droid 4

  • elemeno

    CM 10.1 nightly on toro

  • CM 10 stable on VZ Gnex.

  • pd240

CleanROM 3.5 for verizon Note 2. Brings it up to the 4.1.2 and fixes everything verizon messed with and adds tons of features. . Definitely loving this phone/ROM after coming from my gnex.

  • Stock Jelly Bean 4.1.2 on OG Droid Razr – Think the time for a new phone is coming – this one is starting to run through the battery at a rather alarming rate even with root, cpu sleeper, SetCPU and battery tweaks in my build.prop

Usually 12-16 hours is all I can muster, I used to be able to get almost 60 hours on a single charge on custom ROMs but nothing has been close to that lately.

  • Apostrafee

There aren’t any ROMS for Windows phones right? 🙁

  • MrMota

AOKP mr1 jb on Galaxy Nexus (Toro)

  • david mastros

    AOKP mr1 jb

  • kuboo99

AOKP 4.1 on VZW Galaxy Nexus with the stock AOKP kernel.

  • Simon Bemont

    Wow. *Takes a deep breath*

Sprint HTC Hero still rocking CM7.2, EVO 3D is on Gangnam Style CM10 (love this ROM), B&N Nook Color freshly moved over to CM10 (So smooth, Project Butter FTW even on old hardware), HP TouchPad is on Unofficial CM10, and my wife’s EVO 4G is rocking CM7.2. My newly acquired Nexus 7 (Christmas gift) is still stock Android 4.2 (for now).

  • wavedashdoc

BB 4.1.2 with Franco Kernel Rev 300 OC to 1.6 (stable) no under-volting with interactive governor. Running nova launcher and I get about 2 hours 3 min of screen on time with 15-18 hours of use. Maybe not the latest, but with the smoothest most stable performance why change.

  • Daistaar

Vigor 360 1.1 for the HTC Rezound. Soon it’ll be CM10 thanks to Chad as the Rezound now has JellyBean!

    • brando56894

Ah the Rezound has JB now? I ditched my Rez for the Gnex a few months ago but I still have her sitting in my drawer waiting to get sold, I’m going to have to give it a go to see how it compares to JBSourcery 4.1 (4.2.1 base) running at 1.6+ GHz onn my Nexus.

      • Daistaar

Yep, the Rezound has finally (unofficially) gotten Jellybean in the form of CM10. I haven’t tried it yet as there’s some small stuff missing and I need a solid DD for work. You can try it on you spare (after making a backup) and let us know if its worth it. I’ll try it for a bit before upgrading. February is DNA/S3 month for me. Hopefully CM10 could hold me over until M7/S4 lol.

        • brando56894

I just tried IAmTheOneTheyCallNeo’s Rage 2.3 on my Rezound and it’s pretty damn fast. I ran an Antutu Benchmark comparison (even though it doesn’t really mean much) against my Gnex running CM10.1 OC’d to 1.6 and the Rezound beat the Nexus, just by a little though.
