Question of the Day: What ROM are You Currently Running?

Years ago, we were able to run this question as a poll, since there were only a few handsets to choose from along with a few ROM developers who had work worth sampling. These days, there are far too many phones and even more developers that this can only be asked in the form of a question that directs you to the comments. Yep, we’re talking about our regularly scheduled “What ROM are you currently running?” post. We’ve had a number of readers ask for it a handful of times over the last couple of weeks, so we figured it was time to oblige.

So as usual, we’ll simply ask, “What ROM are you currently running?” But after you answer that question, make sure you give us device type, why you chose this specific ROM, and then include any other add-on that you have attached to your setup. People want to know what’s hot on the streets these days – give as much detail as you can.

Xoom Wifi | Team EOS JB Nightlies (4.2.1)
    Nexus 7 | Paranoid Android (4.2.1)
Droid Razr Maxx | Batakang (4.1.2)
OG Droid | kfazz CM10 port (4.1.2 alarm clock)

  • dcdttu

Stock rooted 4.2 on my Nexus 4. Not 4.2.1 because, when I install it, it apparently uninstalls most of my battery.

  • EvanTheGamer

My Galaxy Nexus is running the “no longer being developed for” Bugless Beast 4.1.2.

Now that Alfonso is no longer developing for Android, I just wish I had a boarded the Bugless Beast Bandwagon way sooner, so that I would have been able to enjoy the many wonders that the BB brought to the Android ROM table. Damnit!

    Why Alfonso WHY?!

    • brando56894

Pete is done with Android in general or just the Gnex?

      • EvanTheGamer

Last time I heard, he’s done with Android altogether, but anyone out there, correct me if I’m wrong.

I know for certain that he’s done with BB though. I wish he wasn’t since BB 4.2.1 would be a powerhouse of a ROM, but unfortunately BB 4.1.2 may be the last of its kind. Damn.

        • brando56894

Wow, that’s unexpected. If it’s true it’s the end of an era, that’d be like if Koush decided to stop developing for Android. But the great thing about Open Source Software is that there’s always someone waiting to take his place!

          • EvanTheGamer

Yep! Exactly. Maybe if Alfonso is really done with BB, maybe someone will step up and ask him for his permission to develop the next version of the ROM. Alfonso could even be some sort of a consultant, basically just someone that the next BB ROM dev could consult with from time to time. We’ll see though.

  • G-Nex

OG Droid = Steel Droid (basically just use it as an alarm clock)
Galaxy Nexus = CM10.1 (lost the AOKP love!)

    Nexus 7 = CM10.1
Note II = Stock (can’t root it because of the GFE app for work)

  • Verizon Galaxy Nexus
    ROM: Vanilla MmuzzyROM 4.2.1
    Kernel: AirKernel Weeky #465.

Battery life has been pretty good, I’m at 45 min of screen time with 76% battery left. I don’t know why but I just felt more comfortable using AirKernel knowing that the developer is in Korea lol.

What’s the best d2vzw ROM? AOKP is ok, but no 4.2.1 yet, and it’s exceptionally buggy when video conferencing (Skype/Google Hangout), and the volume in calls is still broken.

  • psycosis

HTC DNA ukb but will go for some aokp or cyanogenmod when and if available

  • Brian_2112

Got an old school EVO 4G running Ubersonic RC2 (Android 4.0.4). Basically, a ROM that is perfect for non-activated EVOs such as mine (my contract ended last month), as it is stripped of all phone-related apps/services and designed strictly for multimedia/entertainment. Fast, smooth, plenty of RAM and storage left over for all sorts of fun.

  • gp126904

Droid RAZR Maxx running CM 10 can’t wait till 10.1 gets more stable then I will be in heaven!
