Question of the Day: What ROM are You Currently Running?

Years ago, we were able to run this question as a poll, since there were only a few handsets to choose from along with a few ROM developers who had work worth sampling. These days, there are far too many phones and even more developers that this can only be asked in the form of a question that directs you to the comments. Yep, we’re talking about our regularly scheduled “What ROM are you currently running?” post. We’ve had a number of readers ask for it a handful of times over the last couple of weeks, so we figured it was time to oblige.

So as usual, we’ll simply ask, “What ROM are you currently running?” But after you answer that question, make sure you give us device type, why you chose this specific ROM, and then include any other add-on that you have attached to your setup. People want to know what’s hot on the streets these days – give as much detail as you can.

  • JagoX

    VZW GNex w/ AOKP 4.2.1

  • Luiz Mattos

    Nexus 4 – CM10.1 nightlies
OG Kindle Fire – Hashcode’s unofficial CM10.1 builds

I’ve been a CM fan since I learned how to root and flash a rom onto my DX. They’re putting out new features pretty regularly while still maintaining the fairly light touch I look for in a rom.

Currently running a bone-stock RAZR M and pretty happy with it. No intention on customizing at this time. I’ve got deep roots with Verizon so the N4 isn’t an option, otherwise that’s what I would probably have. Handed down my Rezound to my wife – it’s running Cleanrom ICS, very stable and good battery life. Also purchased three Nook tablets for the family this Christmas, now all rooted and running CM10. Awesome other than battery life and no Netflix. I know why Netflix doesn’t work, but a bit puzzled by the poor battery life.

  • Vzw Gnex, Bugless Beast 4.1.2 with 4.2 Google Apps and Nova Launcher.

  • I got Paranoid Android on all my Nexus’s and my gs3 is on cm10.1 until paranoid android on it gets to 4.2.1

  • Phil Onyschuk

    VZW GS3 on CleanRom 4.5

  • Snowcrash

    Verizon GS3 running SynergyROM 4.1.1

  • Verizon GNex CM 10.1 with touch recovery. Android 4.2.1. Love photosphere!~

  • Kyle Miller

    GNEX CyanogenMod 10.1 01/02/13 Nightly.

  • VZW GNex (Toro) CM 10.1 Android 4.2.1. Got tired of waiting for VZW to ever push out an update, and the CM team has made awesome builds and I groove on their tweaks. Live on the nightly fringe and have never regretted it. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say I may give Ubuntu a try when the GNex build comes out…. Damn, I need to see a doctor about this! 🙂

  • BikerBob1789

Thunderbolt with Skyraider 1.3. The ICS ROMs are great but just don’t quite match with smoothness and battery life.

  • mgamerz

CM 10 on my gnex. Jellybean 4.2 is much too gimmicky for me.

  • Tim242

Verizon Note II, Jelly Beans build 5. Best of both worlds. AOSP look, Samsung features.

  • antinorm

Toro running the 4.2.1 AOKP MR1 build. I compile it myself (it’s not hard to set this up, and this way you don’t have to mess around with finding a source to download unofficial nightlies).

  • Rob

Verizon GNex & Nexus 10 both running CM 10.1 for now. I have had great luck with JellyBelly 11 and am thinking about trying the new AOKP 4.2.1 M1 release.

  • Kevin Jones

My GNex (Toro) is running CM10 Stable, and my Nexus 7 is running stock rooted.

  • Nexus 4 has stock ROM on it…why not? It’s the Nexus…lol.
Transformer Pad 300 has Cyanogenmod 10.1 on it. I chose that because it seems to be the most popular, especially for my device, and I have to agree that it’s awesome.

  • xanaxdroid

    AOKP MR1 B1

  • Ryan Cota

Galaxy Nexus LTE – MMuzzy 4.2.1 AOSP ROM – Because it is rock solid and I got tired of waiting for Bugless beast to update, and I have have no intentions of ever going back now! That and I really enjoy non customized ROM’s that are pure AOSP. I do have the 1% Battery circle mod though ha.

  • ozo012

  • Joe H.

Atrix 4G – epinter’s CM10 as my daily and sometimes his new 10.1
    N7 – Stock
    TF300 – Stock
    Kindle Fire – CM10.1

  • GNex Bugless Beast 4.1.2

  • Joe Mihalich

Verizon GNex running CM10.1 nightlies. Was using AOKP, but they got left in the dust with 4.2…until this morning that is.

  • FrenchToast

AOKP on my GNexus, just flashed this morning. Stock on my Note 2, unable to really see the need to root/rom on it atm 😛

  • Verizon GNex AOKP JP-MR1 Android 4.2.1

  • Seanfranchise6

  • CharmPeddler

None… I Have the droid Razr and Cyanogin nor BB have roms for it (that run 4)

  • Beranimus

Galaxy s3 clean rom 5.5.1 and love it

  • Phone – VZW Galaxy Nexus
Rom – Baked Toro Blackbean 6

Blackbean from Team Baked is the most smoothest rom Ive ever used. Fully inverted and full of different customization’s. I never even try other roms cause Baked has everything I need. Use with Rom Toolbox Pro and Beautiful Widgets and my phone is sublime.

  • Nayners

Running stock android 4.2.1 on my nexus 4. I see no point in a custom rom on THIS device. I’m a recent vzw convert, and am enjoying updates from Google.

  • SD_Scott

    Gnex Toro Shiny OTA (4.2.1)

  • CM 10.1 nightlies for Verizon Galaxy S3. I like to be on the cutting edge, even if I have sacrifice battery life because I’m wiping my caches all the time.

  • MikeCiggy

    Verizon Gnex

    Running CM 10.1 latest nightly

Love CM, I have since my Eris days. Perfect merge of vanilla with some extra add-ons and always running smoothly. Only complaint is the Bluetooth sound quality compared to CM10. Hope it changes soon but I appriciate everything all the CM guys do for us crack-flashers.

  • Liberty on my DX. Made me a happy camper.

  • azholio

Taking the new AOKP out for a test drive on the G Nex, some version of 4.12 on the Nex 7, BB on the OG Droid and something old and crusty on the Nook Tablet.

  • Jon

    Shiny here.

  • jdomann

CM 10.1 nightlies on toro. Sticking with it since they deliver the features I like most and keep it working well. Also use Franco kernel r356 as well as the new Seeder app 😮

  • George Fayad

JBSourcery on my LTE Gnex. Still stock on my Nexus 7.

  • Baldwinguy77’s latest “Shiny” 4.2.1 on my Verizon Nexus. Verizon can suck it. This ROM is fantastic and is rock solid.

  • Alix8821

Brand New AOKP on my N7… Liquid Beta v2.1 Beta2 on my d2vzw (waiting on AOKP)

  • Radgatt

Stock Verizon Galaxy Nexus. I just don’t care to root anymore.

  • summit1986

    MMuzzy 4.2.1 Toro

  • “Beans” build 2, 4.1.1 on VZW Galaxy S3. It is TouchWiz based but themed like AOSP so it’s rock solid and looks good too. He’s up to build 8 but so far I’ve had no issues on this build and have thus seen no reason to update lol. I used to be a crack flasher when i had my Fascinate but in those days new releases were so much more exciting, now it seems that most Roms are just a little more of the same with a bit of different flashy stuff.

  • Philip A. Kaiser

Gnex – Toro AOKP JB-MR1 (4.2.1) Nova Launcher Prime, Transparent Softkeys, Stretched Wallpaper, Hidden Notification bar, and pimped out with gestures galore.
