Gameloft Releases Cosmic Colony to the Play Store, Think SIM City in Space

Gameloft released another game to the Google Play Store that looks to add to their wide portfolio of titles on Android. Cosmic Colony puts you in charge of a city in the far reaches of space and lets you build up your world so you can explore your surroundings. Search your planet or even fly to the nearest rock in space to look for things to do, manifest destiny never looked so fun.

And of course, there are the pesky space pirates to watch out for. They will try and ruin your city along with other random natural occurrences like you would find in SIM City. The game also has a social aspect where you can visit your friend’s colonies and see how your space city stacks up against theirs. The game is free for download from the Play Store below, just try not to get lost in space.

The “freemium” trend is the absolute worst thing going for consumers. I
really hate that this is the way everything is going in the Android
market for gaming. It’s flipping horrible.

So this game is somewhat like SimCity Social, in that, you can only progress through in-app purchases? Great.

Also, no thanks, if that is the case.

Why isn’t it compatible with the Asus TF700.

This is basically Farmville except with a space city…

Also not available on my SGS3

  • Finire

And, not available on the latest and greatest ASUS Transformer TF700 Infinity….

Not Sim City, Cityville. Much different, SIM City was actually fun this is retarded.

  • Suralin

Sweet, first SimTower in the form of Ocean Tower and now this! Yay for simulation games!

Did that color pallet hurt anyone else’s eyes?

  • Drew

Knowing Gameloft there will be micro-tranactions everywhere, but I’ll try it.

  • Liquidretro

For free this is probably worth trying on the N7

I was interested until I went to go install and it wasn’t available for my tablet. (Asus Transformer) Why would you not make it available on larger platforms given the size of assets in the game?

That’s weird. Installed on my TF300.

Had the same problem. My son loves SimCity, so we tried to put it on his Transformer…no go. Sad.

Same here, I went to install it on my TF101 and it said it is not compatible either. But it is with my Nexus 7 and Acer A100 (both 7″) . I would much rather play a game like this on my 10″. I may have to try side loading it onto my Transformer. I bet it will work just fine.

Just like the other 2 Gameloft games of this type you do _NOT_ login to this game. That means all data is stored client side instead of server side. That means if you refresh your phone ALL progress is lost included any IAP you purchased. Ive been complaining about this crap since Fantasy Town.

On the up-side, Titanium should be able to help you retain some of that if you change your phone that often.

Came to the comments to see if there are IAP. I enjoy this kind of game but I guess I’ll skip it.

Give me Roller Coaster Tycoon, ported to Android tablets, and you can have my wallet.

    • A1cntrler

      That would be so Awesomesauce.

    • Taylor Hull

      This. Completely this.

    • feztheforeigner

And Zoo Tycoon! I used to LOVE Zoo Tycoon!

    • EvanTheGamer

YES! That’s another game I’ve been wanting on Android for the longest time. Roller Coaster Tycoon seriously rocked back in the day(played it for hours on end, it was some great fun!)

    Amazing
