Participate in Google+ Hangouts on Your Nexus 7, Using a Zombie Hand

YouTube Preview Image

Throughout last week, Google released a series of videos to highlight some of the main software features of the Nexus 7. They talked about the Google app suite, how to set up your home screen, and of course, how to use Google Play. In this latest video, the focus is on video chatting with friends through Google+ Hangouts, only the comments at the YouTube page for this video have turned our attention elsewhere. That would be to the Zombie hand holding the N7 throughout this series.

It’s no secret that companies use fake hands during these videos, but once you notice them, you can’t help but laugh every single time you see one. Apple uses them in all of their commercials as well. Ahh the Zombie hand, always stealing the show.

  • Brandon Dean

I always assumed that the hand was real, but that the Nexus 7 was attached to something fixed from behind so that it wouldn’t move.

  • eddieonofre

I don’t get what is the fuss about the hand, I don’t see anything irregular. I though something like at some point there were 3 hands in the video or something like that.
Besides at 0:02 you can see the hand moving.

I saw this in the YouTube comments, watched for it, and it kind of freaked me out. At the 0:11 point the top finger moves slightly.

“N7″ sounds like a nokia device

  • Prime7

Zombie hand. Pfft. Come on, guys. She clearly just has three hands. What’s the problem?

  • SecurityNick

Apple has filed a patent for white background in commercials, and another one for pointing on touchscreens to show things happening.

    • Monkey See Monkey Sue

Apple just upped the ante by filing a new suit claiming they own the rights to hands holding electronic devices and “white guy” voice overs. They are demanding $14.7 trillion dollars for past and all future infringements.

  • paul_cus

Cheaper to go with the zombie hand than the hand model, I guess.

  • jeesung

    it lives!!

does Zombie mean some kind of mannequin? ’cause this one moves every now and then.

N7 owners, I found this interesting.

I downloaded the factory image for the N7, wiped my tab clean, then did a fresh install of 4.1.1 – I must say, it seems to run a tad bit faster and smoother than running the OTA.

    • TheDrizzle

Fresh installs always seem to run faster, then after a while they seem to get bogged down again :(

    • Mack

I have to agree with you. I did something stupid and soft bricked my tablet so the factory image was my only option and it really does seem a bit smoother.

    • fixxmyhead

pffft placebo effect. ALWAYS gets some suckers

      • ddevito

        nope. Clean image runs better

        • michael arazan

All devices start to run slower when you you start using up the memory and apps running in the back ground i have found on several devices.

Google keeping the zombie hand strong

  • EvanTheGamer

    ZOMBIE….go for the head!!

  • fauxshizzl

Selling my Nexus 7 8GB for $200+shipping. No tax. I need a 16GB and they are available again, so if anyone here wants to save a few bucks and was looking to get an 8GB anyway..

  • sc0rch3d

it’s bad when you have that headline on twitter sitting right next to a trending topic list with one called…. “#thingsIlearnedfromporn”

  • John

When I see these videos for Hangouts or Skype etc. all they show are people waving. I guess that’s all you can use it for.

    • EvanTheGamer

See…no one talks anymore, they just wanna wave like Jesters. lol

      • Trevor

Haha I was thinking the same thing!

        • EvanTheGamer

          haha!

  • ddevito

Simply cannot out this thing down
