Wednesday Poll: Favorite Announcement From Google I/O Day 1?

Now that day 1 of Google I/O has just about wrapped, we would love to hear your thoughts on everything that you saw. What blew you away today? Was it Jelly Bean? The Nexus 7 tablet? Maybe even the drone-line Nexus Q? Will anything ever top the Project Glass demo that Sergey Brin, skydivers, biker riders, and wall scaling maniacs put on? There was a lot to take in, hopefully you were able to follow along during our coverage.

Let us know what has you most excited!

The poll is online. You must go to the site.

  • butter… makes me giddy.

    nexus 7 as well

  • LordStickMax

i’ll tell you what i don’t like. that the tablet look and feel was reverted to the cell phone layout. to me it seems like a step back. now im gonna have to reach the center constantly in landscape mode.

I want one of those jars. Please make them!!

  • Chris Wilkey

butter and expanded voice search….I want to justify a Nexus 7 but they should have come with 16/32GB options.. I know you are supposed to stream everything but why would they build the Galaxy Nexus that way and not their first tablet..

    Nexus7 and Google+ Events

For me, it’s a toss up between Project Butter and PDK – Project Butter for the obvious reason that a smoother UI experience is always desired, it’s what you always interact with on your phone; PDK with the hope that this means faster updates from the OEMS (though I wouldn’t hold my breath, I still think this is more of a business issue than a technical issue)

  • Nexus Q.
At face value it’s not that special but I think it is a whole new horizon for where I’d like to see all of this “I have a super computer in my pocket” stuff go – cloud source your parties, network you house without much infrastructure.
It’s pricey but I can look past that

Under/Over when Verizon Nexus will actually see Jelly Bean? My guess would be late this year or early next year : (

  • Nexus Baby!

Jelly Bean for my Galaxy Nexus!

  • nexus 7 and jellybean :D…

  • tyguy829

Jelly bean stable rom for vzw nexus with working 4g. Ported off an IO nexus. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/28486-team-liquid-vicious-toro-jellybean-fully-100-fucntional-deodex-data-etc-build-is-now-up/. YES!!

    • fanboy1974

Just flashed 10 minutes ago. Chances are my Nexus will not see another ICS based rom again. And I’m so glad I stuck with my Nexus instead of pre-ordering a Verizon S3. Don’t get me wrong. S3 is the best phone hardware wise today but the Nexus is a special device. And having Jelly bean less than 24 hours after being announced is proof of that.

I’m diggin the Glasses for guiding rock climbs, it offers a nice solution opposed to mounting the GoPro cams on the helmet. I’m also looking forward to hear more about voice action, ie. input items into calendar and of course doing it with a Nexus 7! That little tablet is a beast and I’m gonna really enjoy the new form factor and JB. And all those talking doo doo about the bezel…you don’t get one 🙂

  • For me it’s the PDK, hands down. Everything else might as well not exist
since most people don’t get updates to their phones until they upgrade
    (every 2 years at best)

  • MKader17

Google Now hands down for me.

  • NO POLL!?!?

    • LionStone

This is it buddy, jump in…it’s an informal poll 😉

  • I know its off topic but who else wants one of those little jelly bean Android holders (even if you don’t like candy) I’d buy a few 🙂 I wish they had mini statues like at google you could buy 🙂
Oh and Nexus Tablet and Jelly Bean was the best today

  • I liked the offline voice typing best. I also liked butter and the fact thst they now have a Siri competitor.

  • Android

i like the nexus 7 tab

  • quiklives

I have been waiting for the Nexus 7 tablet for most of a year, since the first rumors started, so that has to be the top of the list for me.

  • Tyler Chappell

I just pre-ordered my 16GB Nexus 7 a bit ago, and unlike my Transformer Prime order back in January, I won’t be cancelling this one. I’ll finally get the tablet with all the features I wanted, minus a microSD slot which I can live without thanks to all my other storage options.

  • was really impressed by Jelly Bean, but doubt my verizon nexus will see it anytime soon

  • James Hill

Jelly Bean for the Galaxy Nexus…. Next Month!

  • regkilla

  • lovehate

I was hoping they would have announced in sticking to their do no evil moto they were going to buy Verizon and make the mobile world right again

    • jaymonster

I’m thinking most would view on company owning the OS, the hardware AND the carrier as a potentially evil monopoly. (technically it wouldn’t be… But that wouldn’t stop people from claiming it)

  • probably google now..on the android side……and google glass for the non-jelly bean stuff

  • Kris Curtis

My Galaxy Nexus will be one of the first to get Jellybean.

  • Spaniard85

Jelly Bean! Can’t wait to get all those goodies on my Gnex!

  • enerjak

I might be the only one who was overjoyed at Project Butter but to me, it was the best thing to come out of Day 1. The lag found on Android was so bad on my DX that I eventually jumped over to Windows Phone, which is already buttery smooth. If Android can become more consistent and smooth, I’ll be first in line to buy a Razr HD in August!

You say that as if the Razr HD is going to have JB in August.

      • enerjak

Well idk for sure but I think it might be possible. Motorola’s version of ICS looks incredibly stock, so maybe Google is reigning them in a bit and telling them to tone down Blur. Google’s influence also might be the reason Motorola pushed out their ICS update before other companies (correct me if I’m wrong). I hope, since Jelly Bean isn’t a super “major” update, there might be hope that the jump from 4.0 to 4.1 might not be as long as it could be and the Razr HD could launch with that instead or receive an update very soon thereafter. It would/could also make a great selling point against the GSIII.
