Asus Tweets That Unlock Tool For Transformer Prime Should Be Available In February

Hot off the presses is a tweet sent out from the main Asus Twitter account, stating that the bootloader unlock tool should be available for the masses in February. After discovery by the community that the Transformer Prime shipped out completely locked down, there was mass plea for the company to release a tool to unlock it and make it the great tablet it has been advertised as.

If you are not concerned with warranties and other things associated with unlocking and rooting your Android devices, then this should be right up you alley. And with February literally right around the corner, we should start seeing a lot of movement start up in the Transformer Prime development forums.

    interesting news

    meh.
At this point, I’m just waiting for the “new-and-improved” Transformer Prime.

what’s the release date on that again??

    • QtDL

I’ve been reading June at the earliest – but expect delays as usual. :)

  • QtDL

I think I’m returning my Prime – got a dud (GPS won’t lock AT ALL). Have another waiting for me at my local Best Buy. Asus gets one more chance for the TF201….if the 2nd one is buggy, I’ll be waiting until the $249 tablet or TF700. :(

I hear the bad GPS and WiFi are issues with all Transformers (including the previous Tegra model).

      • QtDL

I have been hearing scattered responses. Some people have no trouble w/ wi-fi/GPS and others aren’t picking up signals at all. It’s a nice tablet but I don’t really want it if ALL  the functions don’t work properly. :(

I would definitely root if I could still watch movies on it… are there any workarounds?

If this is an unlock tool, why are they calling it a root tool?

    • KevinC

because likely some marketing person tweeting this and don’t know that they are technically incorrect.

OR….it’s just exactly that. A root tool, not a unlocking tool.

        If so I’m gonna laugh.

They corrected the tweet about 30 minutes after that tweet saying bootloader unlock.

            Oh ok. I didnt know.

Why do you hate everything not Moto that people are excited about?

          • Anonymous

Because 48% of readers on this site hate ANYTHING pro-Motorola or non-“G-Nex” related only for something that the majority of people here(according to the last poll) dont even care about in the first place.

Oh and I dont “hate” Asus products….I just dont need another tablet and I dont follow their products that closely. I made a statement and was corrected. No biggie.

I don’t care about your statement. If Asus released a root tool and not a bootloader unlocking tool it would be a fail for Asus/Android.

So if this is failed you, as an owner of multiple Moto devices, would laugh at this since you don’t care because it’s NOT a Moto device.

            Hypocritical much?

I hope to god that Motorola releases one for all of their old devices.
