Working Ice Cream Sandwich Ports Making Their Way To Many Devices

Since the release of the Ice Cream Sandwich source code, the wait for ports of the OS to different devices has begun.  It has been just 2 weeks and we can happily report that many devices (more than expected) already have semi-working builds and that there are others on the way.  In this list of devices with working ports you will find the Motorola XOOM, HTC Thunderbolt, DROID 3, DROID Incredible, and even an alpha build for the DROID Bionic.

ICS for these devices is not 100% yet, but from what we can tell, these builds will start becoming more user friendly in a short time.  If you want to keep track on the work for these devices, follow the links to their homes down below.

The exhibit is  called "Picasso to Koons: Artist as
    Jeweler." You probably will
    recognize the names of
many of the more than one hundred artists  represented at the barbour
    show. Names like
    Georges Braque, Max Ernst,  Alexander
Calder and Salvador Dali, Robert Rauschenberg and Louise Nevelson and barbour

One hundred thirty of the rings, necklaces,
brooches are from the collection of art expert Diane Venet. She helped
    to set  up the exhibit.

      Ms. Venet
met French sculptor Bernar Venet about twenty-six years ago. A short
time  later, he gave her a piece of quilted
designed as a ring. The ring celebrated the fact that they would soon be  married. Ms. Venet said it was the first
    piece of barbour
    quilted jackets
artist’s jewelry she had ever had.

      As time
passed, Bernar Venet exchanged pieces with mens barbour
    artist friends
    who sometimes created jewelry.  Ms.
Venet’s personal collection grew and grew, and she decided to exhibit it  with works of barbour
    the other artists.

Hotchner is the director of the Museum   of Arts and Design. She  says the ladies barbour
considers jewelry as one of the most important forms of art today. She
notes  that a piece of jewelry
    kid’s barbour
is not  just a small version of a sculpture.

Any word on when the Official ICS update is coming for Bionic?

  • Aleks Ortiz

I tested it out and i could only play with my phone for like a minute then it would restart. I wonder if its just my phone…

  • The Big Chris

I just installed the ICS alpha 5 and aside from the camera, everything seems very stable. I’m very impressed by ICS UI and of course grateful to the devs

  • Brandon Sobotta

Love seeing the Droid 3 getting some love from Hashcode!

  • Anonymous

I’m so happy to see Dinc on their.

    Droid X (OG)?

  • cydetrakd

I can’t wait for a fully functional ics build for my 4 day old xoom. So far just rooted and loving the stock hc rom and figured the official ics update shouldn’t be too far away but if the devs can get it out before moto/Google does than ics here I come.

  • Anonymous

Droid 2 Global build? 😀 Just kidding, only like 1,000 people actually own the phone.

  • Anonymous

I’ve got to stop getting the latest and greatest.  Dumped the D1, DInc, DX, TBolt, Bionic and now they all have stuff I want.  (MIUI/ICS build)  Hopefully the RAZR gets some love when it’s been out a little longer.

  • Techisblack

Lets see some Droid 2/Droid X love!

  • Anonymous

I can’t believe this was missed, but here’s some great development going on for the Droid Incredible 2.

Most of the important stuff has gotten up and running in only a week’s time which is great and, besides the choppiness, is stable enough for a daily driver

  • noble95x

do you have to be rooted for this on droid 3?

You missed out many many many phones… for example Desire HD

CVPCS is working on it for droid X :)

  • Greg

I’ve been using CM9 alpha from Koush on my Nexus S, it has some quirks but it runs very quickly considering. I’m using it as my daily driver (alpha 11) and I’m really enjoying the Google music integration (pull down notification track skipping and pause, automatic lock screen widget). The stock browser is a huge leap over Gingerbread, I’m using it instead of Dolphin HD at the moment.

  • Anonymous

    Wow, go D3!!

  • ICS Now Please

How are people sitting at home building these ports from source in a matter of weeks but the companies that actually build this crap cant figure out what an ice cream sandwich is!??!?!  IT BLOWS MY MIND DAILY.  Google just needs to shove it up VZW’s cornholio and release ICS for Nexus S already.

  • Mitch

rootzwiki has r2doesincs ICS port OMX which is being updated almost daily

  • http://twitter.com/ProTekkFZS Jacob Bell

Don’t forget the Incredible 2.  I’ve fixed plenty today and 3G should be a go shortly.  This is all from source and has nothing from the SDK in it like the XDA Inc2 ICS port.

    • noisyKricket

woooot! I was literally just looking for this :)

  • Anonymous

    seems broke as crap

    • http://twitter.com/ncoulombe Nathan Coulombe

Oh sure. I bet you expected it to run f*cking perfectly out of the gate? And your comment just contributed OH SO f*cking much to the conversation. Stop trolling.

      • Anonymous

I actually am not, I was just stating my opinion.

  • Santiago Dolores

@f6cf9cde2013f6af2daf3d0b6f6bfc61:disqus   the OG before…. my co-worker’s aunt makes $78/hour on the laptop. She has been fired from work for 10 months but last month her pay was $8789 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read about it on this web site http://qr.net/fv1p

  • Anonymous

Definitely looking forward to an Atrix 4G port.

  • Jvrcb17

Okay, so I’m guessing this means Droid Incredible 2?? I would probably have a heart attack if I get ICS on the DInc 1:)

    • Peter

Check yourself into a hospital then because the devs for the og inc have a semi working build already, the only thing that really sucks is that it seems like we need an official update for an HTC device to get hardware acceleration to truly become functional.

  • GalaxyStoDroidCharge

I have ICS on my old Galaxy S Captivate. I’m a bit skeptical about putting it on my Charge so early for fear that it will break something. At least it’s running pretty smoothly with Humble 5.0 RC2 Android 2.3.6 EP4P.

    • http://profiles.google.com/spc.hicks09 Gary Hicks

Try it, push comes to shove you can Odin back to Humble. Try it and let me know how it works. I’m all over the forums at XDA.

  • http://twitter.com/Pollita_Droid Erica M.

Very nice.. Good to see it on both of my devices (xoom & bionic) just too bad it’s not an official release.

  • http://twitter.com/Tech_Jared Jared Fulgham

Tack the Incredible 2 on that list. I’m rockin’ a fairly stable rom as we speak.

  • http://www.facebook.com/LuisElTiburon Luis Rojas

    My Droid X????????!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?! :[

    • http://twitter.com/evodoer Dick Garrison

There is a MIUI port of ICS for the droid X available. I have been using it as my daily driver since last Wednesday and its going swimmingly. Buttery smooth, OC’d to 1.2ghz, quadrant scores around 2500

      • http://twitter.com/ncoulombe Nathan Coulombe

Yea, that doesn’t really count as ICS. It has some parts of ICS framework merged in, but you have to remember it is mostly the same as 2.3 MIUI still.

    • Gtoreznor
  • babadush

Twistedumbrella is kicking ass on the tbolt. He’s gotten more done in 2 days than I’ve seen in a week

  • Eric Peterson

Using the Alpha on my Incredible. Not amazing but a ton of stuff is working (including the important stuff). Going to give it a shot as my daily driver. R2DoesInc is a crazy hard worker and I can see improvements coming along very quickly

    • niuguy

I was running it briefly…pretty cool. I went back to CM7 pretty quick.  Until the devs get hardware acceleration its not very enjoyable to use.

      • mikeym0p

Yea, once it’s accelerated I’ll flash it again. It was fun to poke around with though

      • http://twitter.com/marsgrafx MARS GRAF-X

where can we fallow this build as it progresses?

        • niuguy

          Here is r2doesinc’s http://rootzwiki.com/topic/10439-rompure-ice-cream-sandwichomx11-27/page__p__253767#entry253767

    • Drizoid

Yeah same here. ICS is cool and has some new tweaks but all in all its not that mind-blowing like we thought it would be. Most everything works so its not just that its alpha but i don’t think it looks as cool as i had hoped. When you play with a new update and after about an hour you don’t feel like tinkering anymore that is not a good sign. Oh well. JellyBean i am sure will be sick.

  • Hep

I have faith that some brilliant programmer can make this work for the OG Droid!  They’re too smart & awesome to not do this.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ERGFEP4UFWHHWDEHTUWLMSJHO4 Mike

might need to keep my HTC thunderbolt.

I want ICS on my HP Touchpad after :)

      rooted friends…

And you’ll no longer want the Nexus.

Add the Acer Iconia A500 tablet to that list.

Thunderbolt alpha isn’t quite funcational to use as a phone but it will be soon enough. Seeing as this phone is the biggest clusterf8ck of hardware and software this is a surprise.
I doubt HTC will ever get it running unless they steal twisted’s.
P.S. will the Devs stop fight and work together. Just give credit and stop listening to rumors and assuming people will steal things before they actually have done anything. Remember just because you read it on a forum doesn’t make it true. Keep up the good work guys and maybe even try to work together.

    • babadush

I’ve been following that thread for a while now testing every build. Yesterday’s fiasco with twisted and the bamf team was hard to watch. I wish they’d all play nice. Twisted is ripping it up though. Every build is significantly better than the last

Someone should post this to VZWs’ facebook page w/ the comment “Galaxy Nexus, first device with ICS my ass”

    • http://www.facebook.com/kittygetwet James Sorensen

First ICS phone that works as a phone, that could be their new slogan/tagline for it

      • http://www.scaryuncledevin.com/ Devin Rodriguez

Didn’t people get ICS up and running on the Nexus S? Did it ever work as a full phone?

        • Anonymous

Drew Garen has been releasing some ASOP ICS betas since last week for the Nexus S. I’ve been using them for the past 2 months since the Alpha releases and I have to say his been doing a great job. Some small details like face unlock and NFC were missing up until last week but over the ROM has been usable as a phone. I love rubbing my Nexus S on my friends faces… And now I’ll be able to do the same with my DX 😀

    • DWM

Well, technically it was the first phone with ICS, you’re just not allowed to have it. ***Said scowling in the general direction of the nearest VZW store***.

  • http://twitter.com/IInsley Isaac Insley

no ICS for the original droid? 😉

    • Anonymous

I’d squeal like a little girl if I got ICS on the OG before the g-nex came out… even if it ran like garbage

    • John

It will come eventually.. too many OGs floating around still, mixed with the fact that it’s one of the few truly unlocked phones and for the longest time was every developer’s best friend.

    • Anonymous

Just give Peter Alfonso some time lol

      • http://profiles.google.com/spc.hicks09 Gary Hicks

The source wasn’t even out for 24 hours and he had a build. Said he’s going to work on it for the OG.
