Confirmed: Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 4G LTE Launching July 28 on Verizon

On Friday we received word from one of our readers that the shipping date for his Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 4G LTE had switched to July 26, leading us to believe that the official launch date would be July 28.  Our assumption was spot on as we now have confirmation from our friends at Verizon that this coming Thursday is indeed the launch day.

The black/metallic gray version will be available in all channels (stores and internet), but the white version will only be available via direct fill (internet or sales line).  The 16GB models will roll in at $529 on-contract with the 32GB versions sneaking up to $629.  It’ll come loaded with Android 3.1 as expected, microSIM card, and one of the prettier 10.1 screens we’ve seen on a tablet.

Cheers ___!

  • I wanted to draft you a very small word in order to thank you so much as before for all the spectacular pointers you’ve shown in this article. It’s really unbelievably generous with you to give easily what a lot of people could have advertised as an e-book to end up making some cash for themselves, precisely since you could possibly have done it if you ever desired. These tricks additionally acted to be a good way to be aware that many people have a similar desire really like my personal own to learn a little more when it comes to this matter. I am certain there are some more pleasant instances ahead for those who look over your blog.

ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz. Don’t care about a tablet. Waiting for Galaxy S2. But I think Samsung and the carrier’s are shooting themselves in their collective feet by waiting to release. Those of us who WOULD have already bought the GS2 might jump ship with some of the other models that are being rumored and talked about. What’s new and desirable becomes old and not so tempting very quickly.

I’m kind of puzzled as to why Samsung will launch the Galaxy Tab 10.1 on Verizon with 4G LTE and likely not launch Verizon’s Galaxy S II with 4G LTE. I know that there’s more room in the tablet for the radio and that battery life isn’t as much of a concern since its a tablet and not a phone and also that the Tab uses a Tegra 2 while the S II is using an Exynos, but I still find it hard to believe they’d launch they’re superphone without 4G LTE on board.

The enterprise provider shows that in Q2 2011, users activated more iPads than Android smartphones and tablets combined.

    • TomHolmes

Let me get this straight. A single provider of enterprise mobile devices states that their iPad activations outnumber their Android activations, and that is relevant how? Here’s the link to your source.

My XOOM: Verizon why have you forgotten me? Where’s the LTE upgrade you promised me? Do I have to start a Class Action suit against you since you have obviously broken the upgrade agreement YOU made to me and thousands others at the beginning, one of the reasons I bought You? Make it right Big Red

    • Anonymous

Now is the time for that Class Action against Verizion & Motorola count me in.

    • Anonymous

My paperweight, ahem, I mean “Xoom” is a freaking unicorn. Class Action? Ha, they’d win, we’d lose. They never said when we’d stop getting the shaft, only that it wouldn’t hurt for long. Motorola and VZN can go blow a goat. I’m using my iPad daily and it’ their fault I’m becoming an apple fanboy.

  • TomHolmes

So we pay $529 for a 10″ tablet with Samsung-grade construction and then have to commit to two years of data as well? What do we get for the commitment?

Any tablet over $350 is too expensive. If I had to buy one today, I’d buy the Nook Color. That’s the Android standard folks. If you can’t compete with it, go home and create something else. And any tablet with a commitment should be heavily subsidized. $529 is retail for a high-end tablet. I’ve been a Verizon customer for eight years, but this is stupid in a box. Maybe I’m stupid. Explain to me why anyone would commit to this. Please.

I’m patiently awaiting the Amazon tablets to see what they will do to the market. Right now we have a huge slate of 10″ tablets retailing for five to six hundred bucks and everyone wonders why they aren’t selling. They aren’t selling because you’re targeting a demographic that embraces a $200 subsidized price point after years of bone-crushing recession. The people who were willing to pay those prices have an iPad. If you want to open up the market, offer a product that appeals to the Android buyer.

    • Mike Mike

I completely agree and to the adherent flamers no, I’m not cheap or broke either.

And VZW is shooting itself in the foot with those prices. Why would I pay them $29 more to be locked in for 2 years.

    • voiceofreason

Well someone like my mom greatly benefits from this.  She told me she wanted a tablet with data, so I figured I would get her a 4g one, so she would have the fastest.  She isn’t going to buy another tablet any time over the next two years, and plans on paying for data for those two years.  Yes, they should be subsidizing more than $100, but if she was going to get the LTE version anyway and keep it for 2 years, might as well sign the contract and save $100.

    Newbie question!
If I am currently at Cyanogenmod 7.0.3, how to I switch on over to Project Elite 6.5?? I’m soooo confusrd!

    • pezjono

      1. Download Rom Manager from the Market.
      2. Download Project Elite Zip file (http://www.moddedlogic.com/pe/final/GB/V6.5/PEv6.5themed.zip) and copy to your SD card.
      3. Open ROM Manager and select “Install ROM from SD Card”. Point to where you saved the .zip file. Select Backup Existing ROM, Wipe Data and Cache, and remove checkbox for Wipe Dalvik Cache.
      4. Grab some grub or entertain yourself for 15 minutes.

      download MIUI

  • Hmmmmmm. I don’t know if this is even worth the new data charges. Hmmmm.

  • Anonymous

I want 4G, but it isn’t worth the price.
4G LTE phones/tablets have VERY high price tags.

    Anyone agree?

  • Dj

A high priced piece of junk

  • Anonymous

    Feel sorry for Xoom owners.

    • Anonymous

Yea, sucks when u buy an unfinished product with “promises” about “upgrades”…….I’m all for early adoption, but that was even 2 much for me to justify buying….now there are rumors of MOTO making a NEW tab w/ice cream sandwich????<~~~~~~how about finishing the 1st one before moving on to a new 1!!!!!!

    • Anonymous

I’m certainly not thrilled with the LTE upgrade not happening yet, but give me a break. I wouldn’t even consider the Galaxy Tab. Propietary ports, no microSD, and Touchwiz??? You’re kidding, right?

Id have to say your wrong sir, thats talking about a screen tech thats not even out yet and it says itll have double the resolution as the tab 10.1, and im typing this on my 10.1 and the screen is amazing

        • Anonymous

The Galaxy tab doesn’t have that screen. It was more of a prototype show off.

        • JoJoOnTheRadio

I’m enjoying it greatly, thank you! 🙂

        • Jojontheradio

Lol, you’re still wrong, read the article carefully. It says double the resolution than the forthcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1 (which at the time of this article wasn’t out yet). It’s new technology not even released. So enjoy washing the egg off your face..

i’d consider this if verizon didn’t have these asinine data tiers.. with LTE, i’d reach the limit in less than a day

    • Commonsense

If all of the “new” activation consumers refused to activate, and told this to managers
who could give word to their superiors (and so on and so on) I’d bet Verizon would do away with
tiered data…Too much sheeple without original thought = big corporations fudging their services.
