Download: Motorola XOOM User Guide – Verizon

If you haven’t learned all there is to know about the Motorola XOOM by now, then you are in luck.  Below, we have the entire XOOM user guide for you to browse through before next Thursday when you’ll finally be enjoying your new Honeycomb tablet.  It’s a pretty standard UG, but I wanted to point out that I’m not seeing a mention of a required data plan anywhere and am starting to think that will be part of the Best Buy deal and not at actual Verizon stores.  BBY requires a similar 1-month data subscription with the Galaxy Tab, but VZW never has, so we’ll see.

Link after the break!

my PDF has some dumb droid-life watermark all over it, almost like they think they wrote this shit.

    get over yourselves.

    • Anonymous

May be a shame a shame about the watermark – but if you see the link is now dead, would you or someone else be able to re-host? (not sure Moto can really get too legally wound up around a manual for a product launching so soon)

  • Ndeveux

Costco’s leak mentioned a requirement to set up some sort of wireless service as well.

  • MOOSC

thank you this awesome and I’m glad you water marked the pdf so many blogs just post and don’t give credit where credit is due. Next up Bionic info please. TB is old news. DL ROCKS

    • IceBeam

Takes about 2 minutes to remove the watermarks. And no its not rocking, its ruining the readability of the damn thing.

  • Anonymous

Seriously? You had to watermark every page? Holy moly.

  • Matt

Anyone else notice that flash also won’t be available on launch? http://twitpic.com/40shvs

  • http://twitter.com/dl_evans dustin evans

Has anyone seen when these will hit actual Verizon stores (hopefully without the data plan requirement)? I called my local store and the guy said sometime this spring. Also, does anyone know if Honeycomb supports Ad-Hoc? So if I get the wi-fi only version I can share my OG Droid’s connection?

  • Salsa_33

    My next phone…the Jitterbug…FTW!

  • Mrsmith

Droid-life was great now its a bunch of hype…over bullshit…Nick is right kellex reports hype over fact…like thunderbolt news like atop hyping it up and report FACTS…KAY…FACT KAY…

    • http://www.facebook.com/ahbonte76 Alex Bonte

I know I probably shouldn’t be justifying this with response, but did you consider that maybe Kellex IS reporting facts, as he knows them at the time? It’s not his fault they keep changing. I will agree that the release date of the Thunderbolt is completely ridiculous, but don’t be angry with the person who is just trying to keep you as informed as possible. Try being angry with the company that can’t publish reliable information about their products.

  • Anonymous

To all those naysayers complaining about posts on this site. Nickxuser, and that other guy whining about the thunderbolt roumors the other day. There have been countless posts on engadget where the featured picture has the famous “droid-life” branding. Kellex has had so many exclusive posts and breaking news first over the lifetime of this site.
Many sites just rehash and copy the posts from this blog. The info provided by this site, and the manor in which it is delivered, is invaluable to the droid community. If you don’t like this site, don’t type http://www.droid-life.com into your web browser’s address bar. Is that simple enough for you?

    • Anonymous

We wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on any of the “hype” though. :P

  • Bad Reporting

Wrong!!! User guide never says anything about required data plan… I used to work for VZW and now with Best Buy. The data requirement is a VZW thing. It’s an agreement with Motorola and VZW so that people try 3g and companies get paid money. Plain and simple.

  • Salsa_33

    Ooh…drama…I’m grabbing some popcorn.

  • Anonymous

I havent done any work today… thanks to Droid-Life…

    love it (:

  • Marcus

damn all this gettin on this site but u still check this site out everyday probally atleast two to three times a day. if you don’t like a site don’t comment or come to it just be gone

Ha! iPhone 4 wins Best Mobile Device at MWC 2011 without even showing up

    • Nickxuser

Lol death to android I love it

Its so cute when the turtle neck trolls comment on each other’s comments.

          and there it is!

      • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

Its even funnier when they dont have a life so they go on android websites and troll but dont even get paid by apple. Must be sad I can see it now some fat @ss in front of a computer with no friends, never seen a beaver its sad it really is…. Rehab is needed for these kind of fools

  • Doug

Just a rhetorical question here… What’s the point of shelling out dough for a tablet when you can buy a decent laptop for $500? I don’t get it. Is the allure just that it’s lighter and has a touch screen? What can you do on a table that you can’t do on a laptop?

    • Salsa_33

Ha! I’ve often wondered this myself and Dell has the Inspiron Duo laptop that converts into a touchscreen tablet. 1.5ghz dual core, 320gb hd…for $500. Now I’m not saying that I’m overly excited and going to run out and get one but I think they’re on to something. If they could add a gps…

      • http://twitter.com/BiggiePhat JG

I think asus’s tablets with the slide out keyboard is more impressive than dell’s offering. Dell’s is bulky, battery like is like 2 hours, and its dell so 80% of the ones that ship are guaranteed DOA.

    • Anonymous

at that point, why not just shell out for a desktop machine? i’m sure you can find a difference between laptop and desktop… is it that much of a stretch to then find a difference between laptop and tablet?

laptop vs desktop: no external monitor, mouse, keyboard needed

laptop vs tablet: no mouse, keyboard, flip up monitor needed

      C WAT I DID THER?

  • SphericalPuma

So will this be available the same day as best buy I.e. the 24th at Verizon stores? Because if I can walk in and walk out without a contract or activation fee from Verizon I will.

  • http://www.twitter.com/dailydroidapp AndroFan

I will be enjoying my Honeycomb tablet in a bit over a week…but it won’t be of the Xoom variety. G-Tablet Honeycomb ROM ftw!

I’m just as excited about the Xoom release as everyone else…because it means that I’m within a week or so (few days, hopefully?) of a Honeycomb port.

    • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

      not the same

      • http://www.twitter.com/dailydroidapp AndroFan

My bad, you’re right. Forgot to mention the $230 price cut compareed to the xoom wifi version. Otherwise they’re pretty much identically spec’d.

  • Nickxuser

This site is BS…engadget posted yesterday day the REAL SPECS on Droid x2…no dual core no qhd it will have a 1.2 SINGLE CORE processor same display….same phone just overclocked with new blur…I swear kellex is a HYPEBEAST just over hyping everything lol…

    • Mrpicolas

      Wow troll much…..

      • Anonymous

You know thats right Brother, “Keep on Trollin On” LOL

    • Hamholla

Kind of getting tired of people ragging on kellex and this site. They do a wonderful job of trying to keep us up to date on anything android related. Show some appreciation and remember that without them we wouldn’t have this amazing community.

      • Parrotheadmjb

Not knocking the site, I can’t keep myself from coming here all the time… I really want the zoom. But honestly they don’t do a great job keeping you up to date on everything android related, androidos.in is probably the best I have found with respect to everything android related even though its not up to date on minute to minute info. But that’s not why I come here..this site serves the purpose I come here for.

        • Parrotheadmjb

My phone auto corrected xoom to zoom..

        • http://smartrevu.posterous.com/ Wes Campbell

          that’s what an.droid-life.com is for.

          • Parrotheadmjb

            Never saw that haha

    • Andrew Hewitt

Oh well, it keeps things interesting. Umad?

    • http://www.twitter.com/dailydroidapp AndroFan

The downplaying of the Xoom price and required data package is where I started to lose faith.

      • (v)urphy

He may be the only who can afford it. Hype = Ad Revenue

    • Anonymous

This article is not about the Droid X2…….

      • Nickxuser

Your right.its more.hype about another nonDroid branded product…

        • Anonymous

Under the “about” tab at the top, I am quoting here

“Things you’ll find on the site include Android news, rumors, tips, tricks, videos, reviews, products, apps and anything else related to the newest lineup of DROID devices.”

I assume (we all know what that means) based on your response you consider the Xoom a non Droid device from? Why??

          • http://smartrevu.posterous.com/ Wes Campbell

it was supposed to be the DROID XOOM but they dropped the branding about a month before the i*hone release. honestly, i think the DROID branding will go the way of the dodo in coming months.

          • Anonymous

No one called it the “Droid XOOM” except for sites like this. I never thought it would get the Droid branding, and it had nothing to do with the iPhone.

      • http://freecarads.com/ Matteo

I just got my xoom…so far I am happy with it. It is a inconvience to
wait for 4g and flash but still a good deal. When you compair the pads
out there for the money this is the best. I wish skype worked but
understand it needs 4g, just wish Verizon would have mentioned that when
        I purchased my xoom.

    • Nickxuser

This site use to be great now its a bunch of over hype…like last time I checked this is droid-life not android life so why the hundreds of post on the non Droid branded thunderbolt…CAUSE KELLEX IS A HYPEBEAST…

      • Anonymous

Here’s a tissue. You aren’t required to read either site, so why not fix yourself instead of complaining.

        • DBK

Because this is also a Verizon site. And if he kept strictly to Droid, we’d get 1 blog a week at best (since there is very little Droid news right now). Then you would be complaining that there isn’t enough blogging going on. So, uh, STFU?

          • DBK

Sorry, that was meant for Dickxuser. Hit the wrong reply button. :P

      • Anonymous

You know, if your not happy you can always “TROLL ON OVER” to somwhere else!!!! Kellex and the gang do a great job, and they always try to get the best information out to us, Unlike other sites where they just throw out there and let you hang.

Kellex also does a great job with following up from other sites as well and seperating the gossip from fact. I don’t seem to recall some of the other blogs out there doing that as much as Kellex has done, and yes I’ve checked them out as well.

      • Anonymous

Oh, I forgot maybe you haven’t been on this site as wel,l an.droid-life.com Since you’re Trolling around some.:)

Here’s an idea, offer up a subject that you would like to see covered. We’re always open to suggestions. :)

      • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

Hype about what I want to know all this stuff about the xoom and thunderbolt since I am considering buying those 2 devices does not bother me at all. I dont know about you but I go around the web to get information because some sites think some news is more important than others its just a fact no one wants you here or cares if you leave so if you don’t like the site you can leave no one will miss you

Ok. The Droid X2’s painfully subpar specs. Engadget’s got some good coverage here: http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/16/motorola-droid-x-2-leaks-more-details-emerge/ as does Gizmocrunch here: http://www.gizmocrunch.com/android/5399-motorola-droid-x2-specs

You do understand that thats also just speculation? I’m not saying it doesnt belong here but they know just about as much FACTS that Kellex does. So quit yer bitchin, maybe he is digging into it as well. Its not like your paying him to keep you informed or anything.

          • http://www.twitter.com/dailydroidapp AndroFan

Yes, I’m sure Kellex is withholding his big guns sources for final confirmation…you know, since confirmations in the past have come in the form of “my mom’s friend overheard the guy at the Best Buy store say this”. I’m sure he’s waiting on some killer info directly from the Motorola CEO himself, and he’s just waiting to spring it all, just to show small-timers like Engadget how it’s done. Thanks, this was insightful.

          • Anonymous

This is coming from a guy that just referenced Gizmocrunch…

Is there any news on when a wifi-only version will be avialable? It’s not expected to be available at launch next Thursday, is it?

    • http://twitter.com/mfg68 MFG

Same question here. They haven’t said it will be out at a different time. And now Motorola released the specs for the CDMA, GSM, and Wifi models, making me think they’re all ready for primetime, in their respective countries. Maybe we will see the wifi model go on sale next week along with the 3G one. I am gonna buy the 3G, though, as I really think it’s more convenient than tethering my phone’s connection and killing its battery. Plus, that 4G radio will be sick in NYC.

DAMN YOU DROID-LIFE! I have work to get done today.

  • Anonymous

Looks cool but seems to have some thing lacking, especially at that price — most notably Skype video and Netflix. Just having a hard time figuring out what I’d actually use this for.

    • http://twitter.com/mfg68 MFG

I think Skype can be used on this, right? For video? If not, Gtalk looks to be really good for video calls.

      • Anonymous

Pretty sure Skype is included. And yaeh, Gtalk video for sure.

        • Anonymous

Score only thing left is netflix then.

        • Anonymous

Skype won’t be included since this is a Google Experience Device, but obviously it will be available in the market and video calling should be coming very soon.

          • DBK

Do I need to prove you wrong, again? :P

    • Anonymous

I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to download Skype from the market, and I am personally more interested in Google’s upcoming video service than I am Netflix.

      • http://www.twitter.com/dailydroidapp AndroFan

Skype doesn’t yet have video chat available for its market Android app.

        • Anonymous

Skype demoed it at CES, and Verizon confirmed that it will be coming very soon. I would honestly be surprised if it isn’t available within the next 30 days. Honestly, what would have been the point with a very limited number of Android handsets featuring a front-facing camera?

          • Anonymous

Because you could video chat to all the people who iphone 4s and computers running skype

          • Anonymous

I understand that, but Skype was obviously waiting until more than 1 or 2 Android devices had front-facing cameras.
