At this afternoon’s ASUS press event, the company announced a few devices, one of which really caught our attention, the Transformer Book Duet. ASUS and Intel are labeling it the world’s first 4-in-1 laptop/tablet combo, which dual boots Android and Windows. While it isn’t the first device to do that, it’s still quite the accomplishment for the both companies to get the two separate OS’s booting on the same SoC.

The device is powered by an Intel i3 processor and features a 13.3-inch 1,366 x 768 display for $599. Another model, which features a 1080p display said to come out later this year, is actually running an Intel i7 processor, but nothing is known on its price.

One major downer is that the Android OS running on these systems is only Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. No word on when or if they will be updated to newer versions of the OS, but our fingers are crossed for anyone hoping to pick one up.

The device will launch sometime in Q2 of this year, here in America.
