When Jen-Hsun Huang, NVIDIA’s CEO, took the stage tonight at the Palms Casino for their CES press event (our live blog), he had to admit that the Tegra 4 was one of the worst kept secrets in the mobile industry. Even still, his series of demos with a prototype tablet and Project Shield gaming system, both of which were running the T4, blew the crowd’s minds. It’s official – the Tegra 4 is the “world’s fastest mobile processor.” (more…)
We really aren’t sure what to expect tonight, but NVIDIA always puts on a good show at CES. Any chance we see the Tegra 4? Maybe another ultra cheap tablet? Some other kind of surprise?
You’ll find a live blog below, but we also have a live video embed of the event so you can watch along with us. Get ready! (more…)
Yes, folks, it’s true – CES 2013 starts tonight. Tim and I are in Vegas, a prime burger and beer deep, ready to start talking about the world of consumer electronics for 12-16 hours per day for the next week.
It’s a wild time, if you haven’t yet experienced a Consumer Electronics Show. There will be live blogs, live blogs, and more live blogs from tonight through the end of tomorrow as the biggest companies in tech take the stage at the show to announce goodies. For those new, Monday at CES is always press day, with the official show floor opening up on Tuesday and closing down some time Friday. (more…)
Today, Google has announced through their official Google TV blog that we have lots to look forward to next week at CES. According to the post, we will be seeing the future of the platform, as it will be presented through new hardware from various partners such as ASUS, Sony, LG, Vizio, and more. (more…)
At last year’s CES, we watched as Corning unveiled Gorilla Glass 2, the thinner and supposedly stronger version of its older brother. It was a talking point for all new phones going forward. If your new smartphone didn’t have GG2, you simply weren’t as awesome as the guy sitting next to you who did. Whether or not this product actually helped any of us with phone drops or battles with stone countertops can probably be debated for days, but what we do know, is that Corning is back to give us the next version – already.
Next week, Corning will show off Gorilla Glass 3, which as expected will be three times stronger and more scratch resistant than its predecessor thanks to “new glass composition with durability enhancements.”
That sounds lovely, but I’m already looking forward to Gorilla Glass 4, which will hopefully be flexible and able to outlast a pocket drop. (more…)
With CES only days away, the rumormill is working overtime thanks to companies like LG. We just posted a story about the company possibly unveiling the 5.5″ Optimus G2 at the event, but this new teaser video may help back that in some form.
At the 18-second mark, if you can last that long with the 90s French discotheque track playing in the background, you’ll see a device that resembles either a tablet or a smartphone. You can see the bottom screws peaking through, a design highlight that graced both the original Optimus G and the Nexus 4. Beyond this quick shot, though, you can’t see much else. It could be the phone-tablet hybrid that has been talked about a variety of times over the last few days, or we could just be imagining things.
You tell us. (more…)
CES is less than a week away, so as is customary during the days leading up, we are starting to see products appear well before companies have a chance to announce them. The first two are from Sony, a couple of smartphones that may headline the show, unless LG steps up to answer to a massive New Year’s Eve rumor.
