Anytime you see a Square Enix game launch on Google Play, you can expect a good amount of polish to come with it. Today’s launch of Hitman GO for Android on Google Play is no different. The Hitman series is one of the longest running, as well as most respected stealth and shooting series in the business. Now, Android users get to experience a very unique take on the franchise.

At the base of every stealth-based video game is the idea of being in the right place at the right time. If you are spotted by a guard, enemy or passerby while doing something that you shouldn’t be doing, the game is over. Hitman GO takes this idea down to the basics, turning the matter of killing men silently and moving around without notice into a board game.

You play as Agent 47 from the Hitman series, moving him, or I should say his piece, around the board to take out enemies, which completes a level. Sounds simple enough, but when you add in guns, noise distractions, plus clothing changes, the game gets decidedly more difficult.

Probably the best part about the game are the stunning and refreshing visuals. The Hitman series have always been good in the graphics department, but instead of trying to recreate those graphics (and difficult gameplay) on a mobile interface, Square Enix instead went for a board game/diorama approach.

The game costs $4.99 in Google Play, but it is well worth the money to check it out. In the time that I have spent playing it, I have already found a few levels that have taken me more than a few tries to complete. Further on into the game, in-app purchases are available for players, but the base price is well worth it.
