Twitter for Android Receives Update With Photo Improvements, Real-time Stories in Timeline

twitter android update

Twitter for Android received a noteworthy update this afternoon that includes new photo sharing improvements, along with real-time stories at the top of your timeline after pull-to-refreshes. For photo uploads and shares, you will see a cropping tool to get your aspect just right, an option to rotate your photo, and a reminder (if there are people in your photo) to @ mention them.

Outside of the photo news, Twitter is also introducing real-time recommendations should you refresh and not have any new Tweets to check out. In other words, if you pull-to-refresh and see no new Tweets, Twitter will show you trending topics or suggestions for accounts to follow, plus TV, sports, and news event updates.

The update lands exclusively on Android today, with iOS availability in the works.

a headline of “mourinho on mata and #mufc” with a picture of AVB. must be quite the article.

I like to switch between Carbon, Tweetings, and Falcon Pro.

At first I felt stupid for having two Twitter clients on my phone, but I’ve been using Carbon because it looks really nice and Falcon Pro for checking the streaming notifications.

I really can’t stand the official app anymore. They’ve brought so much crap to the front (trending topics, crap my friends have interacted with, celebrity garbage, etc) and pushed the things I actually care about (mentions, interactions, and direct messages). Thank goodness for Talon, Falcon Pro, Carbon, etc. that can give me the experience I joined Twitter for in the first place.

It’s annoying as hell to navigate through the regular twitter app. Still can’t get used to it. When I changed phones I lost my falcon app.

      • Hothfox

You can download it from http://getfalcon.pro/ – you should still have your tokens unless you’ve removed them via the Twitter website.

    Talon for the win.

I’m glad something went right for Twitter on Android. The app hasn’t been very good at least before this update.

I’m kind of surprised that the update is exclusive for Android at the moment. I would have thought that iOS would have had the update already.

Love Falcon Pro, but right now I’m using Tweetings and it’s pretty good.
