Deal: Grab Carmageddon for Free Off of Google Play

Are you looking for a game to entertain you on this fine Thursday? Carmageddon may be the game to fulfill your desires. The game is mainly based on slamming cars into pedestrians, but still, we enjoy it.

Regularly retailing for $1.99 on the Play Store, this app is available for free thanks to an ongoing promotion. The developers are getting ready for the Steam Early Access release, so they thought to discount it for all of us mobile users.

  • 28 dangerously deranged Opponents
  • 11 wildly exhilarating Environments
  • Career Mode featuring 36 satisfyingly violent Levels
  • Race and Wreck opponents to unlock 30 playable cars!
  • Multiple control methods: digital, analogue (mix ‘n’ match), tilt
  • Edit your control layout in game to your preferences
  • Comprehensive Action Replay System
  • Environment maps and other special effects
  • Enhanced pre-lit environments
  • Buckets of gibs
  • Tons of laughs

The deal is available through a special promo application because of Google Play’s developer limitations, and it’s linked below for those of you who are interested.

It’s great to see these old PC games getting the mobile treatment. The library is chock full of spectacular gaming.

Got this game when it first hit Android. Still play it every once In a while.

I went out to the Play Store and the full version is still $1.99. I think the article (correct me if I’m wrong) is referring to the “Promo” version that was released during the game’s launch. It’s the full version of the game but you don’t get any updates. There’s a “Free” version out there (Carma Free) that’s one level and only 5 opponents.

So to me it looks like Stainless simply re-released the Promo version. Not sure if the no-updates policy still applies, but trust me, for someone that played the original game on a DOS-based computer (bet the majority of DL readers don’t know what DOS is or even what it stands for without a Google search 🙂 ), it’s a GREAT game for the deranged.

Says the Promo verison was last updated 17 Jan. Not sure if that was when it was re-released or what, but it has the same “What’s new” changelog as the full version.

Even better. That means they re-released the Promo version with the latest updates. Sweet! Thanks for the info!

not the prettiest workaround but it works i guess. still wonder why google has this policy about lowering apps to free..
