AT&T Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Update Rolling Out, Brings Galaxy Gear Compatibility

Galaxy S4 Galaxy Gear

AT&T customers currently using a Galaxy S4 should be seeing an update to Android 4.3 this morning, as the OTA update started pushing out late last night. The update is to build JSS15J.1337UCUEMJ9, bringing with it plenty of new Android goodies, plus compatibility for Samsung’s smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear

Beyond the smartwatch, users are reporting faster device speeds, a removal of the data toggle in the system settings pulldown, plus tweaks made by Samsung to its TouchWiz UI to match that of the Galaxy Note 3’s Nature UI.

The update is rather large, weighing in at over 700MB. Have at it!

Why can’t I update my galaxy s4? I have been trying for days. Please help.

  • Austin_tacious

Has anyone experienced an issue with phone calls and texts not coming through after updating?

  • chris125

And everyone always said verizon is the last for updates….

  • donkeykong85

i guess i just dont see the point at all of these things – even if it did everything my phone did.

Android 4.3 arrives for the Galaxy S4 as 4.4 goes to current Nexii and shortly to the Moto X. Advantage? Stock/near stock android phones.

  • sfasljkas

I’d like to buy one for my new note 3 but it’s not available here yet

  • Droidzilla

    Galaxy Gear?

  • Chippah

    Galaxy Gear= ZERO FUX GIVEN…..

  • CHRIS42060

I am debating on the Galaxy Gear, and that is mainly because I would like to get a Nexus 5. This is where Apple users luck out….. Never have to make a decision because they aren’t any options.

    • Ray Gray

i would never chose a phone by what watch asessory is available for it. You have to backwards

      • CHRIS42060

My debate was not really choosing a phone, but more like debating whether or not I want to get an accessory for a phone I will be getting rid of rather soon.

  • ToddAwesome

Yeah, I still see no point in a $300 watch that does very little, all the while doing it in an otherwise unattractive form.

  • decidedtochangename

I can’t even remember the difference between 4.2 and 4.3 besides photosphere any more.

  • panicswhenubered

Nice to see them finally expanding compatibility. I just sold my Galaxy Gear though.

    • Sold??? Are you trying to tell me you couldn’t find use for a $300 smartwatch that doesn’t display emails? Unbelievable…

      • panicswhenubered

I actually stopped using it after about 2 weeks. Fortunately, my friend bought it from me for $225. Went back to my regular Rado, Tag, and Citizen watches. It was just too much trouble and had too little functionality. Tired of constantly touching my watch or flicking my wrist to see the time.

        • BeaverBong

OMG! You had to touch it? That must have been exhausting! I am glad you were able to muster the energy needed to sell it. Just a quick question, did you do any research to see what functionality was available prior to your purchase?
