Video: HTC One Hands-on and Overview (Update: Gallery Added)

YouTube Preview Image

Here is Kellex in New York City with his first hands-on and overview with the new HTC One. The device has a stunning 4.7″ 1080p display, Snapdragon 600 processor, “UltraPixel” 4MP camera along the backside, 2,300mAh battery, Sense 5.0, running Android 4.1.2.

With a ton of new features inside Sense, you can bet that we will be posting up plenty more goodies about HTC’s Zoe camera features, their “BoomSound” speaker software, and more.

Let us know what you think down below.

  • Tech Pro

Dual speakers is just a gimmick. I like Low Light Camera and IR port. I will see what Samsung and Moto have to offer.

Overall, a bold step to somewhere. Wish they have enough Ad Money to make it stand out and sell more, otherwise, this might be last flasgship from HTC.

the phone itself looks real nice, but sense…..ehhh, I’ll pass.

they dont understand that they gotta tone it down, it gets way to complex, which may not be a issue for andorid geeks like us but for the simple user its bad.

tho make it unlockable and I might be interested.

those specs are crazy. to bad verizon isnt going to get it.

I can guarantee you that sense 5 along with a 2 capacitive button control scheme will remove any possibility of timely updates.

Device looks great but Sense and Blink Feed dead on arrival

  • Trevor

I really hope more manufacturers go with the “less is more” theory for megapixel count on cameras. These camera modules are just too small to be going for over 9000 megapixels (yeah, I said it). Props to HTC for focusing on making higher quality cameras without spitting out megapixel marketing numbers.

  • Tech Pro

Sense is still good as ever. But need to allow removal of BlinkFeed
because not everyone lives on social network. This is even more
    intrusive than Google Now.

  • JMonkeYJ

this phone makes me really depressed because it’s such nice hardware with such bad software. and HTC really needs a great phone (i want more competitors in the Android space) and this does not look like it.

  • Tyler Casilio

Tim, I just gotta say. This phone sucks! Da F htc!!! I love you guys but God damn!

  • Shilamar

Ugh, people need to get off this kick that phones are only needing to have soft buttons and that’s it. All them people that complain about a button missing or rearranged are probably S3 users.. -.- Deal with it, you may like it.

    Negative feelings about sense

Personal opinion about how htc should do business

ending remarks including moto x phone

    • Dain Laguna

hahahah! i wish i could upvote this into the sky.

but it wont happen, because you just called out the average person posting in the comments of dl

  • Kevin McDole

Was going to get it, but not so sure now. Can’t bring myself to accept that button arrangement and absolute lack of task switcher button. Sorry HTC, but I’m afraid this most likely where we part.

    • LionStone

Well, at least they didn’t ADD a physical Home button! Not so sure changing the button layout was the best idea. I think keeping the buttons Back, Home, Recent would’ve been fine until they moved to on screen buttons…if they ever do. As with anything, just have to re-learn these new buttons, just as anyone would have to learn the new features and such.

    • Chris

I may have to part with them too =/
The only smartphones I’ve had were HTC, but I don’t like Sense 5 at ALL, and I don’t dig the new button layout. Plus I’ve also been hoping they would go back to SD card and removable battery. I feel lost right now. Is that weird to say? I’m not interested in Samsung, LG, or Motorola. Hopefully one of them has something good for me..who knows.

      • Kevin McDole

That’s not weird to say. I don’t like any of the choices. Might just hold out for the next Nexus, since I’m pretty happy with my Nexus 7.

  • DanWazz

Nothing has impressed me. Disappointing. The One X was a great design, crippled by Sense. This is a meh design, crippled by Sense.

  • Jonathan Bunch

“pretty hardware ugly software”….the htc one summed up in 4 words!

  • Aaron

Looks like Sense just hit a whole new level of terrible.

  • Apostrafee

Pretty different, borderline intriguing. I don’t think that this device is for me, but I could see maybe some people liking it. I am interested in seeing the Ultra Pixel camera quality and that’s about it.

  • bungadudu

Need a full system dump !

    • Dain Laguna

i usually do as well, after breakfast.

  • reggie1225

    Not impressed

  • pcloadletter

what happened at 2:50? system messages?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Chris-Schmucker/1498547350 Chris Schmucker

I want to love this phone but, i just cant.

  • Shane Redman

That Blink or whatever they call it just needs to keep it’s eyes shut…

  • Ben Modica

    I hate Sense.

  • Zach Armstrong

I hate that home and back button layout.

  • Rob

like hell am I am upgrading my DNA to Sense 5

  • bakdroid

    If I wanted Windows 8, I would buy Windows 8. HTC fail…. X-Phone FTW!!

  • Austin Warren

    Das some ugly stuff

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

GOOD VIDEO! . . . You can always tell the Android Blogs from the Big Tech blogs when it comes to detail. Kellex got to everything we needed to in 3 minutes. First video I’ve seen that shows how to get to the task switcher. And the Android Version. Good Job

    • 1bens

Agree. Great job on the review in only 3 minutes!!!

  • AlphaNoble

What would be the use of an IR sensor in the on/off button?

    • http://www.facebook.com/Arcticwind101 Noble Sellers

      Contr your tv

    • Captain_Doug

It’s facing the right direction and doesn’t take up it’s own space.

    • Greg

Change channels on the TV at the bar. it is nice to see IR sensors come back, I hope the manufactures take note.

  • ERIC REED

So FlipBoard is now the home screen?

    • John

      That’s what I’m wondering. Wtf?

  • Neomastermind

I don’t understand you, HTC. You seem to take so many steps forward and then you do something to take yourself near to where you started. WTF is that multitasking interface and why are there capacitive buttons? Furthermore, why bury GNow and multitasking? And 4.1.2?!

You must have a large stock of feet because you keep shooting yourself.

    • http://www.droid-life.com/ Tim-o-tato

That multitasking interface is a complete waste of animations and time. Ugh.

      • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

TIM seems very annoyed with this device lol.

        • http://www.droid-life.com/ Tim-o-tato

No, it’s fine. I just sort of wanted something a little different from Sense 5. :(

          • Bewara2009

            Surprise :-D

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dominick-White/642535026 Dominick White

Is sense 5.0 any good, meaning is it less bloated than all other sense?

          • Tyler Casilio

Me too :( Big disappointment for me

          • michael arazan

No sense version, would probably sell better, would be nice with stock android, did you guys see if it gets s off to root easily?

    • http://peoplewho.tumblr.com wireless G

Personally, any device I get I’ll be rooting and putting on a clean ROM or at least using Nova Launcher as my default, so crappy OEM skins aren’t that big a concern. I’m more interested in the hardware; I’ve been wanting a clean, aluminum (or similar material) phone for a while. Just too bad about the weird hardware buttons.

      • EC8CH

Exactly… Manufactures screwing up the software is excusable so long as it can be rooted and have stock android installed.

Those hardware buttons though…. no excuse for that.

    • EC8CH

Wouldn’t the HTC one be sweet with on screen buttons and stock 4.2.2… oh yeah, and on Verizon?

      • Aaron

I was just thinking that, build quality looks great. Would love to see stock and on screen buttons.

    • PhoenixPath

      Agreed.

What the hell is up with that htc logo….I didn’t watch the vid (at work)…is it a button?

  • mustbepbs

    Wait.

4.1.2? Did they say anything in the press release about an upgrade to 4.2 any time soon? Or was that a typo?

    • Tommy Thompson

      in the near future.

      • John

..So in a year or two

    • http://www.droid-life.com/ Tim-o-tato

      Not a typo….

I am also in a state of disbelief.

  • derek connolly

What! Nike+ Fuelband? Where’s the Pebble watch?
