HTC to Hold Event on February 19 to Show “What’s Next”

htc event m7

We always love waking up to press event invites, especially when they are from companies like HTC ahead of a major conference (Mobile World Congress in this case). That usually means something big, because they have decided to do their own thing rather than share the spotlight with dozens of competitors. So mark your calendars, February 19th in NYC is the day that HTC’s shows us “what’s next.”

I think it’s safe to say that we are all expecting this to be the M7. The device has leaked in a variety of ways over the last couple of months

The tbolt is what led me to the darkside (iPhone 4S)…thankfully Samsung brought me back with the S3 :P ..htc phones just don’t excite me anymore

  • Jeff

The announcement will probably be something like this: “Hey everyone, here’s our new superphone running Android 4.2.1 which will NEVER receive a software update. K, thanks bye.”

  • Jody Harvey

Maybe we can find out what happened to Ice Cream sandwich for Incredible 2 (which is now 5 months over due)

  • BrianLipp

Looks like the DNA/M7 stuff is just another repeat of the Rezound/One X stuff. And people were all ready to kill me when i first made this claim when the DNA was announced. I knew i would be vindicated!

  • Chris Hollenbeck

    Thunderbolt – ICS announcement (again)

  • hkklife

So frustrating when companies do this. Release one model (DNA) that’s better in some ways (5″ screen) but then they release a new model (M7) that’s worse in some areas (4.7″ screen) but superior in others (bigger battery, more storage, latest Sense).

I’d like to see a DNA Maxx (or whatever) also announced to slot in above the current DNA on VZW. Give it a 2500mAh (3000 would be ideal) battery and at least 32Gb storage (64Gb would be awesome but unlikely) and price it at $250-$299. I know 3 people who bought a DNA prior to Christmas. One guy loves it, the other is grudgingly keeping it due to the screen but hates the battery and lack of storage and the 3rd guy returned it because of the aforementioned shortcomings and got a Maxx HD but regrets the step backwards in camera and screen quality.

At any rate, after the Thunderbolt/Incredible 2/Evo View/Flyer/Jetstream debacles in 2011, it’s pretty safe to say I’ll never buy anything from them again UNLESS it’s a Nexus device.

    • Mark Mann

i would consider a 4.7″ screen to be more ideal than a 5″

If the battery isn’t at least 3000 mAh then they’ve lost my attention.

    • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

You don’t need a battery to be 3000mah to get all day life. Rumors are 2300mah

      • Booyah

For some, that’s true. Others, not so much. I just think if the Note 2 and others are pushing 3000 then other phones with large HD screens should follow suit.

        • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Note 2 is a massive 5.5 inch device. This is a 4.7 that’s a big difference as far as space goes.

    • yiannis

Some of the custom ROMs do a good job improving the DNA battery performance.

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

    Can’t wait!

  • itsacardigan

Well maybe if it wasn’t all blurry…we might be able to see what they’re going to unveil.

    • Futbolrunner

      The address is whats blurred

  • Shane Redman

Forget this….anyone heard anything on the second installment of the Nexus7???

  • http://www.facebook.com/metalmatze1234 Along Came Morgi

probably smt really cool with one or two major issues, like a tiny battery. lost all hopes on htc learning from their mistakes

    • michael arazan

HTC bowing to carrier guidelines instead of customer guidelines. Lowering internal storage and eliminating sd storage so the carriers can gouge every nickel out of customers for data

  • Justin Winker

Will you guys be in attendance?

  • itznfb

HTC news just doesn’t excite me anymore…

    • http://www.industrializeme.com/ Dan

Ditto to that. They lost my business after that horrible f-up they called the thunderbolt. They can keep their ridiculously poor battery life and shameful lack of updates.

    • http://twitter.com/belogical2 Be Logical

yeah, lost my business with all the “out of space” issues with the droid incredible. never fixed that issue.

      • Sirx

And they all said: AAAAAAHHHHHHH MEEEEEEENNN!!!

    • http://www.facebook.com/objection89 Miguel Angel Portela

The only (extremely unlikely) thing that has me watching HTC is a global release of IIDA INFOBAR A02.

      • itznfb

Not sure where you live but we’d never see that here in the US.

  • Diablo81588

DNA with a maxx battery? One can dream :)
