Android 4.2.1 Being Pushed to AOSP Right Now

Mr. AOSP, Jean-Baptiste Queru, notified the Android Building group a few moments ago that Android 4.2.1 is being pushed to AOSP. After an update for 4.2.1 started rolling out to the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 this morning, this move is exactly what you would expect to see. JQB called this a “minor update on top of 4.2.” We would agree, since the update to 4.2.1 is only a little over 1MB in size. The build number isย JOP40D.

Full factory images will follow in the coming days.

It’s all good, when my contract is finally up it just means there will be that much more awesomer of a phone out there for me. Yes, I said awesomer.

Good thing the US didn’t sign a two year agreement with Verizon or else we would be running last years technology on our warheads!!

    • hfoster52

Or maybe this is the update Verizon was waiting for before approving of an update… Wait who am I kidding you are right.

    • Stewie

Really? My 4.2 GNex rommed unit is already running WITH the Dec fix … only thing now is to incorporate the real repo deal and stop the applied patch … unlock, root and roll ….

      • ERIC REED

Someone has been reading the XDA forums!!

        • Stewie

Mmuzzy ROM already grabbed the 4.2.1 build, rocking that right now…

I really wish Google would somehow focus on getting all those damn Gingerbread phones updated to ICS. I just saw a commercial last night for some wireless carrier that was offering the SGII for either free or some ridiculously low price and all I could think was, OMG all of those phones will be activated running GB. It would be nice to see Google try to standardize the OS across all platforms before releasing yet another revision to Android and push me (as well as many others) way behind. By the time my Razr Maxx gets updated to Jelly Bean, Google will have released 7.24435 and called it Apple Pie. *sigh*

      • PuzzleShot

The SII on Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile both run ICS, but neither one is the free one you speak of.

Will 4.2.1 fix the fact that I can get Daydream AND the on screen keyboard to come up at the same time? Honestly, this is the crap we make fun of Apple for. Clean it up Google!
