Live: HTC and Verizon DROID DNA Event in NYC

We are well aware that today is Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 day, but Verizon and HTC do not seem to care. In their minds, today is HTC DROID DNA day. And you know what, that’s fine by us, as we have been dying to see the world’s first 1080p phone in the flesh and become official for months now. Our man Dave is on the scene in NYC at the release event, ready to give us all of the dirty details. Below, we have a live blog, so that we can all follow along with us and be jealous of those in the media that live on the east coast.

Let’s see what HTC and Verizon have in store!

I switched to t-mobile and got note 2 I had unlimited plan but so does t-mobile
And they’re having basically free samsung phones this weekend and the note 2 is included

      thought it was the s3

      • Jackson

Yea thats what I thought then I called them direct and it is truly all samsung I guess theyre not saying note 2 upfront because its brand new

  • Jackson

It still has 2020mah battery and I think its up for pre order now

  • albertadds

    16gb only? pass!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dominick-White/642535026 Dominick White

maybe they going the road of google with only putting 16gb

      • albertadds

to me I think it hardly makes sense (no pun intended). first, the lack of truly unlimited data for cloud services makes larger internal memory or at least expandable memory a necessity. Also, apps are continuously getting larger and HD content is huge. It doesn’t make sense to me.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dominick-White/642535026 Dominick White

16gb is hard to live with, would of been better if it was 32

  • Bionic

Another HTC fail. Specs are great but they ruined it with a piss poor battery and no SD card! God HTC sucks.

  • Spider210

guess i’ll be traveling with chargers and battery pack cause this is gonna be my next phone

  • ezpotato

this was gonna be my next phone and I was completely set on it until I saw the stores capabilities which is very very disappointing an annoying and I’m really pissed

    • ezpotato

      Storage*

  • Verizon

HTC needs to learn about batteries and updates from Motorola. Motorola needs to learn about screens and cameras from HTC.

    • itznfb

      Indeed.

    • cooksta32676

And then have a Samsung teach them how to sell stuff.

      • Verizon

        LMAO.
Yea, Samsung was taking a few marketing classes while HTC and Moto were out developing.

J butterfly is waterproof. Anyone think this phone has a chance of that?

    • Spider210

      thats what i am wondering

  • Bionic

That’s a damn joke if there is no SD slot.

  • http://twitter.com/SmartphoneFix Smartphone Body Shop

Damn you Verizon! You would release this right before the Note 2 to farther complicate my buying decision

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dominick-White/642535026 Dominick White

    damn 2020 battery?

    • itznfb

Yeah. That is pitiful. I refuse to buy a phone anymore that won’t last a full day without recharging.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dominick-White/642535026 Dominick White

        was hoping for for 2500

  • Bionic

Motorola droid Titan coming 2013. So says my friend on a certain forum.

    • derek connolly

that name is already taken by a windows phone, HTC titan

      • Bionic

Well maybe DROID TITAN is a name of itself and can be used.

        • derek connolly

True, I do like the name Droid Titan, it would be a sweet phone

If HTC is truly paying Apple $x.00/phone sold, we should take a stand as a community and NOT BUY any more HTC phones.

    • http://riteshtripathy.wordpress.com/ Ritesh Tripathy

And that would greatly help HTC, won’t it? People should stop buying Apple products.

      • http://www.thecarners.com Matt R Carner

Exactly. Buying an HTC phone at this point is like buying an Apple product. Why would we help them? Supporting HTC and their decision to give in to Apple is not the Android way.

        • http://riteshtripathy.wordpress.com/ Ritesh Tripathy

You shouldn’t buy any Android phones then, as almost everybody is paying MS a royalty too. Give in to Apple? Its business, fighting this would have been more expensive and painful for HTC. If they’re indeed getting in bed with Apple (which I seriously doubt), we’d need proof of that and then you can call out HTC.

    • itznfb

It goes both ways…. all of these manufacturers are paying each other royalties for patents. We only hear about the patents that are “violated”.

  • sc0rch3d

random question….anyone ever use the moto krzr?

    • icantremember

      Just replaced my dad’s with a refurb G-Nex yesterday…

      • sc0rch3d

I need to get a cheap reliable non-smartphone that works on verizon with text messaging.

    • omgitzjose

i had one on tmobile and loved it. great little phone

  • Spider210

where is the live video feed

    • Aardvark99

Why would they stream this?? Let’s keep the thing a f-ing big secret!

  • itznfb

Verizon: Please look at us! Hey guys! We’re still here! Hey guys! Look! Big phone!

  • moelsen8

Hopefully this distracts some of you other Nexus 4 buyers….. thanks Verizon and HTC!!!
