ASUS to Push Jelly Bean Out to Transformer Prime Tablets in Sweden, Still No U.S. Love

This morning, ASUS Sweden took to their Facebook page to announce that Transformer Prime owners would begin to see the Jelly Bean update for their devices as early as today. As you might have already guessed, we’re not in Sweden, but this is a good sign that owners here in the U.S. can expect to see JB sometime shortly as well.

As always, ASUS continues to set the bar for timely updates to their long list of Android-powered products.

    Hoooray!

We are pleased to announce that we will soon be rolling out the Android™ 4.1, Jelly Bean update for both the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity (TF700) and ASUS Transformer Pad Prime (TF201).

    Watch this space.

Surprise, surprise. An Android device not getting updated. I wouldn’t waste one cent anything running Android.

    • Trey Mitchell

So get off the android blog…….

  • PalmerAdam

Better come with stability fixes or this turd is getting flushed….

  • itznfb

    Eat my ass Asus.

  • darklight2002

what about the asus tf101? any jelly bean love?

Really looking forward to this and hoping that this irons out some of the hiccups on the Prime. App updates and other background processes really seem to cause performance issues. Once everything is done, it runs great.

There really isn’t any excuse for this on a quad-core device like the Prime.

Where’s the love for the OG Transformer? We want JB, too!

    • itznfb

      Get back in the corner!

  • A.J.

I can’t wait to get Jelly Bean on the Infinity. I just got it on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus and it will be interesting to see how Asus handles Jelly Bean. I know Asus takes a pretty minimal approach, but it’ll still be interesting.

Only one thing to say, your ads that pop up in the bottom of pictures are annoying as F***!!!

    • http://twitter.com/garagelogician Jeff C

      Ads? What ads?

      *Hint* Google Chrome w/Ad-Block Plus

      • michael arazan

AdBlock plus is freaking amazing, saves me a lot of slow down from ridiculous flash ads, some pages have 7 different flash ads on them, I miss the old fashion picture ads that didnt blink and move.

    It’s about time.

Asus set the bar SO high last year in regards to blazing fast and frequent Android updates on the original TF101 but they have definitely stumbled a bit here this year. I hope they can get back on track a bit here.
I for one am hoping they DON’T enter the smartphone market in the USA, because having to deal with the carriers and their blasted certification process will certainly drag everything else down with it.

Well you have to remember too, back then there was 1 device to update. Now they have 3 with more on the way (of course not counting the Nexus 7 as Google should handle those updates)

and why would having a phone here matter? yeah update on the phone would be slower because of carriers but that wouldn’t slow down the updates for their wifi tablets

  • MattH818

and I was going to unlock and install CM10 finally today. Guess I’ll wait and see if this comes soon.

  • theentropic

I’m fairly surprised that the Prime got the update before the Infinity. Why has there been no Infinity love what-so-ever…

    • noah1164

No love for Infinity clients?I’m sitting here with my Prime that doesn’t pickup wifi unless I’m on top of my acess point. If I go downstairs it doesn’t pickup the signal. All our kids’ ipod’s work all around the house and outside, so it’s not my router. These things should have been recalled and had the plastic strip put on the back. I bought this purposely because being on disability I can’t always get to my computer and am stuck in bed. It worked slowly, but it worked. Now that I get around more I realize this thing isn’t great at picking up wifi signals. I also bought it because it was powerful with Tegra and nice engine along with nice docking keyboard and almost everytype of hook up. I wish I can trade this in for the TF700 infinity. As far as I’m concerned, they did not deliver the product as advertised (and I’m not even dragging the GPS into the conversation because I don’t need it). They probably realized we all got a raw deal with the prime and are appeasing us with this update first.

    This is Terrible

      What, not Amazing enough? :P

      • Southrncomfortjm

I think he was hoping for a Key Lime Pie update.

        • Big_EZ

Or just an update that doesnt freeze all the time. My Droid X is faster than my prime because it doesn’t freeze every 30 seconds

          • http://www.facebook.com/jeremy.wray Jeremy Wray

My Prime never freezes? And I’m stock, just rooted.

          • Big_EZ

TF201 and TF300 both stock TF201 rooted freeze constantly since the ICS update, and aclean wipe doesn’t fix it.

          • will bartlett

mine was freezing in almost every app. i factory reset it and now its actually wonderful!

          • Big_EZ

Tried that, no luck. Many people who had the same problem stock and on ICS roms say when they run Jelly Bean roms it no longer freezes. I didn’t want to unlock mine though.

          • will bartlett

yeah, i was going to if the reset didnt fix mine, still have it stock and unrooted
