Facebook Currently Testing Out Photo Sync on Android Users, Go Try It Yourself

Facebook is working with Android testers on a new feature called Photo Sync. The idea is simple, snap pictures on your Android device and they’re instantly uploaded to a private album which you can then choose to make public and share with your friends. The test is open to anyone running the newest Facebook app on their device, so if you’re curious about it, you can go ahead and enable it.

Want to learn more about Photo Sync and find out how to turn it on? Go here.

Right cause i totallly want FB having my private photos on their servers. NOOOOOTTTTTT, wrong direction they need less of my private stuff not more.

  • Chris Hollenbeck

They need to fix their Facebook app first. I gave up on it and use a web browser (Dolphin).

  • Hobbzey

I’m on the latest version of the app on my gnex, and followed the instructions, but the option isn’t there for me…?

  • http://www.facebook.com/mike.aurin Mike Aurin

So if I take a picture of my junk it gets uploaded to Facebook automatically? No thanks.

  • http://twitter.com/spdivr1122 Stephen

i just want contact picture sync. hasnt worked since gingerbread.

  • DanSan

my photo page looks nothing like the one in the picture displayed on the PC end. i do have timeline but mine doesnt look like this. My mom recently made a facebook page for herself but hers looks like it, cant figure out how to switch mine. even if i wanted to, this sync option is nowhere to be found and i think its because mine doesnt look like that. I use dropbox anyways

more buggy crap for the facebook app. i don’t even launch the facebook app anymore. i just use dolphin browser for my facebooking.

  • Dave Sloboda

    no.

  • LionStone

FB is never touching my phone again…ever.

  • George264

I think this is a pretty bad thing. I know how you want to upload your pictures beforehand, but why not upload them when you want to, and chose which ones? I mean I personally don’t take any nudes, but I know people who do, and they wouldn’t want… actually, this is a great feature! ;)

    • florious80

They should default the setting to “share global” for the uploaded album. XD

  • S.Ober

Just think of all the free nude pics Facebook gets to check out.

  • Mchl496

I don’t wanna sext all my facebook friends… only some of them.

  • QQpayne

adding features that are already implemented better somewhere else doesn’t fix a horrible app

  • http://BGR.COM/ riggs

Facebook testing a new feature out on Android phones…Why don’t they fix the facebook mobile app then start adding more features. (The Facebook app is horrible still) Android users are the guinea pigs but Apple users get a redesigned built from ground up App.

I quit Facebook months ago. Best decision I ever made. It’s funny Facebook is still blatantly copying everything from G+ to make itself better.

    • DanWazz

I did too. Started my internet life over. The only thing I miss is signing in to comment on other sites through it. But whatever, G+ and twitter are enough to replace it.

  • http://twitter.com/apa1102 Apa Chen

    I only want a native facebook app…

  • DroidXFanatic

The second Facebook want’s to add this auto photo sync to its app I will delete my account and uninstall it off my phone. Talk about invasion of privacy. Imagine all the photos you can accidentally make public for everyone to see……..

  • edward

i have the fb app. however it eats up battery on my gnex (aokp b2), so i have to log off from the app just to save battery. but the feature looks neat otherwise and i would use it as another source to backup my photos.

  • http://twitter.com/whatisajimmy ok

i’m crying, i thought this meant they were officially facebook contact data sync again. :I

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=10215724 Raj Bhatt

That’s what I thought too. I was scrambling to find the option when I realized it is like the G+ sync.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Chris-Robson/1317522018 Chris Robson

I just use dropbox and such to keep my pictures backed up, I’m to nervous about pictures getting made public on accident.

  • Jim McClain

anyone else use skitch? I know, off topic, but it doesnt seem to work with Jelly Bean

    • http://them3blog.wordpress.com/ Abel

      yeah, I kinda noticed that

  • Anthony

This is annoying on G+ and will continue to be annoying on FB. I’ll pass

    • Daniel Maginnis

Annoying or comforting if you lose your phone?

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Chris-Robson/1317522018 Chris Robson

Why not just use regular cloud storage and not have to worry about the pics being posted on accident?

        • Daniel Maginnis

Is there anything that you’d recommend that would do it automatically the same way that g+ does? Also, I love all my eggs in one basket. Haha

          • Spongehead

If you have a Dropbox account, you can install the mobile app and elect to have all of your photos automatically backed up to a folder in your Dropbox. They even give you free space to store your photos. I think they gave me 6gb.

          • Daniel Maginnis

valid alternative. i wont switch tho cuz i use picasa on my desktop and sync to cloud storage for sharing and back up. if you set it up right anything below ~5MP is stored for free. i’ve got gigs on gigs up there in albums and there’s absolutely no point to have two different locations for my pictures online. i dont even shared to fb except when i’m on the go and want to share a picture that’s funny to my friends.

      • LionStone

Yea, not sure Anthony knows its a feature that you turn on and off.

  • Booyah

    “Private”….riiightt…..

    • http://them3blog.wordpress.com/ Abel

I fear my dick will appear as a wall post for some reason

      • capecodcarl

Do you really often take pictures of your penis with your phone?

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-DeAmicis/100000995239735 Michael DeAmicis

I used to get classmates (college) to snap pictures in the dressing rooms at the local mall during lunch break. Quite a collection
          I had for awhile.

          • florious80

You have a collection of ….. penis pictures, Mike?

        • http://them3blog.wordpress.com/ Abel

well, once a week I have to measure my body naked and take a picture to have a timeline of my weight loss and muscle build, I have around 4 months at it… so I could say plenty…

  • EC8CH

    Kinda like G+?

    • http://them3blog.wordpress.com/ Abel

      yep

    • Michael G

Keep this up and the light G+ users will stop altogether.

    • quiklives

Just scrolled down to comment, “Gee, I feel like I’ve seen this idea somewhere before…”

Truth is, I trust Google far more than I trust facebook. I use instant upload on G+ (which is my primary social network these days anyway) but I just don’t see myself enabling this on facebook.

    • mbaldwin85

I came here to say the same thing. Yet another feature they copied from G+. Although the Lists function is horrible and doesn’t even come close to the Circles concept

    • S.Ober

I would say exactly like G+. Facebook is full of G+ features now. Still waiting for circles to come next.

  • jaw_shoe_uh

I’m glad Google+ already does this. Not sure if I want FB hoarding my photos however…

  • http://twitter.com/jcardona1 jcardona

My luck I’d end up automatically uploading pictures of my schlong and somehow manage to make them public. Not happening!

    • bonix

At least when this happens with G+ no one will see it!

    • http://www.facebook.com/ctheofilaktos Christopher Chris Theofilaktos

Hey, you said what we were all thinking :P
