Motorola and Intel Post Teaser for September 18 Event in London, All About “Edge-to-Edge”

YouTube Preview Image

On September 17 in London, Motorola and Intel are going to unveil the first Android smartphone that they built together. We don’t have confirmation of this (well, one news outlet did), but we are fully expecting it to be the RAZR M with an Intel Medfield chip instead of the Snapdragon S4 that we are getting here in the States. The “edge-to-edge” display was the major selling point for the device here, so to see them throw those terms out again for this London event only makes sense. This teaser says nothing but “edge-to-edge” every few seconds.

The device could potentially look like this, with a grey exterior instead of the black and white color schemes we were introduced to last week.

I really doubt that this event will unveil just another global “RAZR M” with same specs but with intel inside, lets not forget that M is Medicare, so making a whole event about just RAZR M with different processor isnt really worth it.

I am thinking they gonna announce the whole new RAZR line with the new intel, .. or might be something entirely different for the global market, … either way, its not gonna be just “the RAZR M with different processor”

I’m really confused. The photo that you linked for what the device could potentially look like has a normal bezel just like most of the modern phones that are out there. It has a huge top and bottom bezel, and a standard right and left bezel, just like my Galaxy Nexus.

Am I blind, or does the new phone still have a bigger bezel than the Gnex?

maybe the big announcement is actually going to be the Bionic finally getting ICS upgrade!

Why would Motorola, a US based company have an event in London. Doesn’t make sense to me.

    • Justin

The phone being launched is an international phone… why would they unveil it in the US when its mainly going to be a European phone?

I hate when you follow a link in the article and then comment on that article and then realize you’re replying to 7 month old comments. Oops. :P

Serious question from someone curious. Why do they release with intel onboard overseas and the S4 here. Are deals worked out in advance that stipulate that or something?

      LTE.

    • Kagnon

Probably shortage of chips and like what butters said LTE integration.

“Edge to edge” – adj. – (origin, Motorola) – having a screen.

Although it’s not pure edge to edge, the phone has the smallest vertical bezels I have ever seen.
