Reminder: Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Now Available Through Verizon with 4G LTE

As Verizon announced on Wednesday, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) tablet can be purchased through Big Red with 4G LTE connectivity starting today. For $349, you can add this to your ongoing tablet collection and attach it to your Share Everything plan for $10 per month. That price though is an off-contract cost as Verizon no longer offers subsidized pricing on tablets since the introduction of their shared data plans.

The device rocks a 7″ screen, runs Ice Cream Sandwich with TouchWiz, has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 3.2MP rear camera, VGA front camera, and 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB through an SD card slot.

Do we really need to be reminded of this travesty?

  • I’d be surprised if this thing gets more than 2 minor bug fix updates in its useable lifetime. No thanks.

Something that is a cross between this and the Nexus 7 spec-wise would be my ideal device (minus the LTE, of course). This thing has the expandable storage, video out, build quality and rear camera the Nexus lacks. But the Nex trumps it in every other area.

Someone, please, introduce a PREMIUM 7″, 7.7″ or 8″ tablet running vanilla JB (or very close to vanilla like Acer and Asus do).

So it’s $350 on contract, $250 for WiFi only, or $200 for a better tablet…. Hmmmmm.

This is slightly off topic, but i wonder what is going happen when all of those people that were streaming the Olympics over their Verizon share plans get their bills and realize that occasionally you will have instances where you will actually use more data then you normally do. I had a look at mine, and i didn’t stream a ton but still a couple soccer matches a couple basketball games here and there and i easily used about 7 gigs of data in those 2 weeks. Of course mine was all over wifi so it doesnt matter, but others might not be so lucky.
