SEGA: Jet Set Radio Headed to Android This Summer

This summer, fans of the late SEGA Dreamcast will be able to re-live the good ‘ol days. In a recent release from SEGA, they have announced that they will be bringing back Jet Set Radio from the dead and releasing it to Android devices. The game had a marvelous 3D world which was set to some fantastic music where players skated and placed graffiti on walls. Dang kids. According to the publisher, there won’t be anything added to the game and it will most likely be a pure port to the mobile platform.

Did you own a Dreamcast back in the day? Excited?

  • I still own my Dreamcast. I got it when they got slashed down to $50. I remember downloading, umm, “backups”, on dialup through IRC. It was a great console and hugely underrated.

  • This is the most excited I have ever been for an android game.

  • EvanTheGamer

Oh HELL yeah, I remember playing this game a bunch back in the day on the Dreamcast…along with playing a lot of the sequel, JSRF on the original Xbox. Good times.

  • Southrncomfortjm

Looks like they finally got around the licensing issues that I assumed were holding up a port from happening ages ago. I only ever played Jet Set Radio Future, but I am looking forward to trying the original.

  • Adam

was the version for the original xbox the same game?

    • Southrncomfortjm

No, that was Jet Set Radio *Future*. I don’t know the differences between them, but I know die-hard fants of Jet Set Radio don’t have great things to say about Future.

I can’t express how much I really don’t care. The game wasn’t that great.

    • EvanTheGamer

And I can’t express how much I dislike your comment…you know, it isn’t that great.

  • RBI411

    Excitement entirely contingent upon price.

    • mustbepbs

I’m sure it’ll be like all their other games, around the $5 price point.

  • mustbepbs

Sega has done better on Android/Mobile than they have in the past 10 years. Way to go, Sega. Keep it up.

  • Futbolrunner

I always wanted a dreamcast when I was a little kid but never got one =[

  • Damir

One of the very few games I ever owned for the Dreamcast… hope that one day they also port the Shenmue 1 and 2 at some point… and maybe one day conclude the series with Shenmue 3 🙂

    • mustbepbs

I think Shenmue 3 has less of a chance of happening than Half-Life 3 has. And that’s close to nothing.

Shh..It’s ok. I understand. There there.
