16GB Nexus 7 Shipping Estimate Now at 3-4 Weeks

Hopefully you placed your order for a 16GB Nexus 7 order already, as the shipping estimate is now showing as “3-4 weeks” instead of the “1-2 weeks” time frame for the 8GB model. This is just a guess, but I’d say that customers are realizing before purchasing that 8GB of storage is not enough, even if the device is cloud-focused. One HD movie and a couple of big games can take up 8GB of space in a matter of minutes, so going with the larger storage option of the two is probably the safest move.

Most orders should arrive today, be sure to let us know your initial thoughts on the hottest little 7″ tablet to hit store shelves in some time.

    Update I just ran into:

    In the US: We’ve shipped all Nexus 7 8GB orders. By the end of day on July 19 (PDT), we will have shipped all Nexus 7 16GB orders placed through July 11 (PDT), and upgraded these orders to overnight shipping. We will process the remaining Nexus 7 16GB orders by end of next week with overnight shipping.

    Thank you droid life :) I wasn’t even interested in tablets until I read they were selling like hotcakes at Sam’s club. I had to call a friend that had a card, wait hours for him to get home, meet up with him, take an hour ride to the nearest Sam’s club, pray there were some in stock and pick one of these bad boys up.
    I couldn’t be any happier with the push you gave me! And I forgive you for making my galaxy nexus feel small like an og droid.

    ordered two 16GBs on 7/6, no charge on my card, no shipping notification…nothing. (currently it is almost 5:00pm on 7/17). Called google on 7/13, and they estimated my order would be shipped on monday…so…it’s unlikely that it was. My only impatience stems from their lack of communication with customers and the public. If I were well updated with the status of my order, I would have no problem waiting as long as necessary. I completely understand if legal or other issues were delaying my order. I just don’t like being a customer left in limbo.

    Preordered mine July 3. Talked to Google yesterday, they expected to finish shipping all re-ordered units yesterday. I still have not received any notification that mine has shipped. *sigh*

    I ordered mine on Friday and got it today. I have to say that it really is a great tablet. Haven’t had time t really dive into it because I’ve been at work (picked it up from home on my lunch break). I didn’t think the box was hard to open at all’ easy in fact. In guess being a girl with nails helps.

    Ok guys, word I’m hearing over on Google+ #Nexus7 is that Google is very aware of how upset people are and are ironing out details on how we will be compensated. It looks like they are blaming UPS for not being able to properly handle the quantity of orders going out all at once. I’m hoping they’ll break their silence soon for an official explanation. Compensation is great but at this point I just want some communication more than anything.

    Mine is out for delivery today, but I live at the very end of the UPS route, apparently. They always deliver to my house at about 7 pm.

    Everywhere I have ever lived (and that’s a lot of places) has been at the end of the UPS route. I’m starting to suspect a conspiracy.

    Sitting here tapping my foot and reading about everyone else’s deliveries might drive me nuts.

    Ordered 16gb w/ cover
    June 28, 2012 9:35:45 AM. No shipping notification, no Google Wallet update, no charge on cc, no nothing…. I just got off the phone with Google after 1hr 12min wait (3rd time I’ve called today, I hung up at 35 mins and 50 mins before). The guy I spoke to was obviously tired and I knew he would have been answering my kind of calls all day. During this time, my coworker, who ordered an 8gb the day after me, gets his delivered to the office. (He got the shipment email on Friday and saw the charge within the hour of his email.) So I ask the guy if there is any word on the 16gb or if the case is holding up my order, or anything else about it that could be my fault. Nothing wrong with my address, cc info, their system shows my order is in queue just fine. The frustrating thing is the guy I was talking to, who works for Google, ALSO doesn’t have his pre-ordered 16gb… I asked him to note on my order that it can be fulfilled as partial shipments if one is ready before the other… ie- the tablet can ship without the freakin $20 case!… He said we should know more this week and they are working frantically with UPS to get all the preordered ones out and delivered this week. He understood the frustrations and was even called in on his day off to help answer the phones for the frustrated people who don’t have theirs yet. I guess there’s nothing else I can do. It’s a surprise for my husband, so I guess I’m glad he doesn’t know it is coming, he can’t be upset about the delivery! #firstworldproblems

    Re-posting from the other Nexus 7 thread in DL (since it’s a few days old and I posted this yesterday).

    Just to update you guys, I know it’s not certain, but when I spoke with a Google rep it sounds like since the B&M retailers jumped the gun and caused much frustration, disappointment, and confusion among the pre-orderers, Google may very well be providing some sort of incentive/back-pay.He also tried to comfort me in the warranty being directly from them and that if anything were amiss with the device, we would be provided with a new device and a return envelope for the faulty device… not that it matters if we’re rooting it right when we get it…Either way, I think they’re going to try and wipe away our tears with some sort of compensation. Here’s to hoping!

    i ordered last friday and receieved it today, One odd thing i noticed was the device was turned on and running when i received it. It was sealed up tight in the box also and yes it is not an easy box to open, the videos are true.

      Are you close to the shipping center, because I ordered mine last friday, I have been charged it is in my bank account, but not shipping information ,or change in my Google Wallet. I am on hold, for about 50 minutes now I want to cancel my order, and just go to Staples and buy it!

    Pre-ordered 12:30a on the 29th…when I get home to SF it’ll be there waiting…16gigs of JellyBean goodness ;) Oh in ‘case’ it matters to anyone, I didn’t order any case for it ;) I could see the timeline for the package and it’s about 9/10 complete!!

    So instead of waiting for google to ship my device (ordered on the 27th) I took a readers advice on here and ran to staples and they had it! Anyone in Long Island NY go and check Oceanside Staples off of Long beach road they have it.

    Google has posted this message … but it isn’t very helpful to me. Basically, if Google has sent you a shipping number, then it’s on its way. But this statement says nothing to people like me, who haven’t received a shipping number: Maybe we’ll get an e-mail today … or next month. Who knows?

    For people like me who have pre-ordered from day one or later 27th for me and have no status update or charge…….Are you on the East Coast? I’m in NY and my friend who also posted same day in in CT. I think the East Coast customers have been left for last.

      Follow up… Fishing a bit on this theory over on Google+. Gotten at least one response from an east coaster who said there’s came in today and another that said out for delivery. Looks like another shot theory.

      My new theory (which someone said in my post, im in the same boat as you, ordered on 27th, in DC, no email/charge) is that any orders with a case arent being sent out, b/c the cases probably arent ready. i dont know if you ordered a case, but if you did thats probably why. it would have been nice if google said the cases wouldnt be ready on time or gave the option to ship them separately

        The cases are ready, the reps are lying. In some instances cases are shipping separately even. I’ve seen numerous orders with cases that have either been delivered already or are on their way. I’ve seen one instance where the case arrived today and the user still hasn’t received shipping confirmation on their Nexus 7. BTW, didn’t order a case with mine. Nor did I opt for personalization. Ordered the 28th and still no notification.

          i havent talked to any reps, tried email and calling but no response on either. im just guessing based off of my situation and others who are saying theyve gotten nothing as well. most of them im seeing are saying they got the case with it

    Ordered June 28th: 16 gig Nexus with case
    –One email on 28th they got the order
    –Absolutely no information since then
    –Sent email to Google Play one week ago; no answer
    –Sat on Nexus help line for pre-orders 90 minutes Monday, never talked to anyone
    –Now at the 57 minute mark, and still no human or electronic voice, but the same stupid Mozart 30 second clip over and over again.

    So, can only guess that they are fulfilling all retailer orders, and letting the pre-orders hang out to dry.

    Preordered on July 6th and I haven’t heard anything. My credit card company has told me that there is a pending charge from Google. I’m stalking my inbox for that email!

      I ordered on the 27th and no status update or charge. Spoke to a rep at 2:30 am est and he said they are trying to get all shipping done by wednesday. I hope he’s right.

    Actually, I still plan to get the 8GB version – here is why:

    1) I’m cheap
    2) I looked at the storage on my phone (Rezound) and saw that other than pictures and videos I took with the phone, I was using less than 2GB for everything else. I have zero intention of storing any of this on my tablet, and don’t download movies either. Mostly, it would be for reading books/magazines, web browsing, Netflix, etc.

    I ordered the 16g model on the 28th. No cover or case. No Personalization. Just the device as is. As of this very moment, no status change, no CC charges, no shipping notifications. Absolute limbo. Incredibly frustrating. Been watching the #Nexus7 stream on Google+ and seeing lots of folks who ordered as late as last week having their devices shipped already. Theories are amuck and none have any solid ground so far. Devices just appear to be shipping randomly regardless of when you ordered, with or without cases, with or without personalization, and regardless of 8 or 16 gig it would seem. It’s just insane. And in some instances for those who ordered cases the cases are arriving while their Nexus 7 still has no shipping confirmation. Are they sitting around with a cup full of d10′s, rolling the dice and randomly determining which orders go on the pallets? It’s insane. And with all the folks putting their orders under the microscope, calling the reps and getting conflicting answers, and then rigorously comparing notes – the interwebz is watchin closely. It’s incredulous that Google hasn’t said a single word or offered any sort of communication. Even if they aren’t at fault, the longer they keep quiet the worse it looks for them. I guess Apple has the patent on good customer service as well.

        I still don’t know why Google just hasn’t made a general announcement on this. The reps are clueless and have been giving conflicting responses all around. Like the have a page of excuses and are picking them randomly. They’re Google, they should know delivery dates and responses from reps are being discussed socially all over the interwebs. And because of the confused and mixed results you would think they would attempt some sort of rumor control to save grace.

        I also ordered on the afternoon of the 27th. (2:30 EST). Nothing yet..not even a reply to my email. It seems some of us who ordered the 16gb version got the short straws. I’m used to dealing with the efficiency of Amazon. This is surely not professional.

      mine is on truck out for delivery, ordered on the 27th, shipping to northwest Montana, i have to believe that those that ordered on the 27th or 28th, if they haven’t received there confirmation and tracking yet, will do so over the next couple of days. received my tracking early Saturday (like 1am) but it didn’t actually go out till Monday morning, i should have it by this afternoon sometime. So nobody will get anything until the night before it ships, if you ordered on the 27th or 28th from the play store and haven’t heard anything by the end of the week, you have every right to be pissed. But from what i read they can only ship so many a day, i have know idea how it gets determined which ones do (i would hope by order time) but just give it a couple a day before you (anyone, not you specifically) freak out. If i didn’t get any info i would be impatient too, i completely understand, but before you go total meltdown wait till Wednesday morning, if you haven’t heard anything by then by all mean freak out.

    Ordered a 16GB on 27.th and two days shipping ($13.99). And, yes, w. case. Got a confirmation email the same day. Then Nothing! Calling them is hours? in waiting. I sent them an inquiry email, no response so far. Not impressed by google. Tempted to cancel. (If that’s possible.) If a stupid case causes huge delay, they should have sent the tablet day one, then shipped the case when they get those fingers out. GAH!

    Honestly, who cares about a 10″ tablet anymore. 7″ is perfectly fine and since I’m a gamer, playing games on a 7″ tab is a hell of a lot better than playing on a 10″. Seriously.

    I think I’ll be sticking with 7″ tablets from here on out.

    Can anyone out there confirm that they received their N7 along with any accessories (ASUS cover)? I ordered the first day and have not heard anything from Google. I have a STRONG feeling this is the reason. Complete BS by Google to be holding up shipment if this is the case (especially considering the high shipping charge). They need to take a page our of Amazon’s playbook and ship the damn thing.

    Well good news, I saw the Sam’s Club thing then went to my Sam’s club and behold! I have a Nexus 7 free of the 2-4 week wait!!!!

        Yeah I walked in after driving across town to pick up a Sams Club membership card to use. Walked in, asked the lady, she scanned the UPC, said they had 4 in stock, I went and got mine. It’s installing the JB 4.1.1 update as we speak. For those in Billings, MT, Sam’s Club has 3 left!!!!
