Rockstar’s Max Payne Released to Android, Time to Shoot Up Some Baddies

The ultra-hit Max Payne is now available for Android. Rockstar definitely took their time on this release, even by delaying launch a bit and we are hoping it was to squash as many bugs as they could before delivery. The game only costs $2.99 and if you are a true Payne fan, you know this is a small price to pay for such a classic.

Please note, depending on your Internet connection, you may not be able to play the game for some time after you purchase it. Download size of the game for me was a full 1.3GB. Yea, that’s intense. Go try it out and let us know what you think about Max’s debut onto Android.

R* has top notch customer support. They were quick to help me fix the no audio issue with GTAIII on my Gnex.

Its a great game, although I can’t imagine trying to play it on a touch screen.

    Play Store charges tax now?

  • EvanTheGamer

HELL yeah, it’s that time again to blast f00ls in super slow-motion bullet time! HELL yeah!!

  • JB

It just crashes on my Xoom. :(

      Way to support the dev.

      Way to support the dev!

oh you mean that multi million dollar company rockstar? i know who to support

        • c4v3man

Yeah, that multimillion dollar company only employs the owner himself. It’s not like he needs millions of dollars just to cover exmployee expenses…

        • Mike Yost

That multi million dollar company that has put out some of the best games available in the last 10 years? Just admit it, you are too cheap, and selfish. How old are you?

Oh and the game is $3 measly dollars, when Gameloft is pushing out games half as good as this for twice as much.

“Download size of the game for me was a full 1.3GB.”
LOL. So if I wanted to download this using 4G LTE on the new Verizon Family Share Plan, at best it would be 13% usage on a 10GB, $100 per month, plan. Forget about 1GB at $50 plus an additional 1GB at the $10 overage. THIS IS JUST TO DOWNLOAD THE GAME. Take heed, old people, make sure your kids download on wifi only!

Seeing lots of “works great” and “doesn’t work at all” comments for the GNex. I’m guessing/hoping that the people who it doesn’t work for just have incompatible kernels or something. I know that a ways back GTA III did not run with Franco kernel. Crashed on startup every time. Switched kernels and it ran fine again.

LOL i can play Max Payne on my Droid2 but not GTA. Lame.

  • Sp4rxx

Wow! Didn’t for the PC the game only take less than a Gig?

Either way, with 4G LTE downloading that should be easy enough :P

I read that this game supports controllers, can someone give some suggestions on which controller to use, is there anything other then the PS3 controller / app combo? Thanks

Works with Xbox controller but I felt it was quite hard to control with the fine aiming. Just too used to the ease of a mouse.

$3 is nothing compared to the many hours this will take up, and with GTAIII my vacation drives are basically going to be non existant.

This is pretty badass. I love seeing these full fun games being ported to Android. (i.e. GTA, etc)
