Disney’s Pixar and Imangi Release Temple Run: Brave for Android

Fans of Temple Run should feel a bit excited this morning, as the brand new Temple Run: Brave edition has made its way to the Play Store. With the Brave edition, there is an entirely new look along with some cool new features such as being able to shoot a bow. By hitting targets, you gain additional points which adds an extra difficulty factor to the gameplay. The game is $1 in the Play Store. Are you still loving Temple Run?

    Disney’s New ( imangi ) Temple Run
This is kind of cute game; But it has a few egregious flaws that make playing it very irritating !
The Foremost is that it is a Verbatim Reworking of Imangi’s previous ‘Temple Run’ which took place in The Ruins of A South American ( ? ) Temple populated with Large Bird like Daemons.
    This New Version takes place in a Forest;
So shouldn’t it be called ‘Forest Run’ ?
It also seems that this New Version was Specifically designed to work with The Latest Crop of Mobile Devices; As it runs very roughly on my 3rd Generation iPod Touch. The Animation is Jerky and it flatly ignores many of my touch commands.
But perhaps The most annoying ‘feature’ is The ‘Arrow Shooting’ mode, which comes up occasionally, and The Character ( nicely rendered ) is encouraged to shoot arrows at Targets along The path. This ‘Mode’ is Revealed by a Target Icon that takes up a third of The screen for about 5 seconds while you are running.
During this ‘Black Out’ Period, you are still required to avoid obstacles, turn corners and avoid The large Bear or Cat like Creature that may, or may not, be pursuing you.
Not only is this very distracting, but you will almost certainly faultier during this Interruption and The Game will be Over !
It’s a cute little game, but The Original Temple Run was much better.
    The Only Caveat i have for both is that i think it might be fun if there was somekind of End Game to Them;
In Which The Character could exit The Temple Ruins or Forest ( ?
And thereafter; Begin a New Quest or ( Not ) ?

  • Runs smooth on ios #justsaying:)

    • ty

Everything runs smooth on iOS, but what does that have to do with anything? It doesn’t change the fact that a lot of their new features that are “changing smartphones forever” are things android has been doing since day one. #justsaying

  • DD

Not compatible with the Galaxy Nexus?

    • DD

My mistake. I changed the lcd density to an unsupported number. Please ignore my comments

      • michael arazan

every comment for this game using galaxy nexus says the lag is horrible, if that gets fixed, i’ll prob get the game. the old one is just not worth it anymore after beating

  • guest

I’m still pissed that the Swamp People game is not compatible with my Nexus.. WTH???

    • ty

^ this. the swamp people game is too much fun, the non-support for the Nexus bums me out!

  • EvanTheGamer

$.99? Disney, you can take your money….to the bank.

  • Ron_Swanson

Disney has sucked the magic from Pixar….

    • EvanTheGamer

Disney has sucked the life force from everyone and everything on Earth.

    • Butters619

You do know John Lasseter is the Chief Creative Officer for Disney right? (He was the director of Toy Story 1/2 & Cars 1/2)

  • Jason Blaies

Man, how can Android lovers be so cheap… It is a dollar, That is like 1/3 the cost a cup of coffee and people had to develop this stuff! comments like that make me sad.

    • JoshGroff

At the deli I go to on my way to work, coffee is 1.10 for an 8oz. cup. 🙂

Still, I’d pay .99 for any app as long as it’s good, and this one is pretty awesome.

  • Android1997

For free- I guess ill give it a shot
For 1 $$$- Kiss my unshaven buttox

    • JoshGroff

So I’m assuming you haven’t bought FPSe or PowerAMP, you’re truly missing out. Also, it’s $.99, not $1. 😉

  • adam

16 mil on temple run…f#ck wit it

  • They’re charging sales tax??? WTF!

  • What’s a buck to put this game on both of my phones and my tablet too (where it’ll probably get the most play). I enjoyed to original TR, and I’m sure this new one will provide more than a dollar’s worth of entertainment too.

  • Jeremy_Bowling

My 7 year old daughter absolutely loves Temple Run. This will be a must buy at my house.

  • libra1310

if is for free its for me. but since its not free its not for me lol

  • teejaycard

The Mission Impossible 4 app for apple was free. I love android, have the gnexus, but making us pay even a dollar for same game with a Pixar feel isn’t worth it. I do love Pixar though! Still…..not worth a dollar ha.

  • ty

I was over Temple Run shortly after it came to Android. It’s horribly boring, IMO.

    • Agreed. If you want a simliar style game that is varied and really challenging, try Windup Knight.

      • JoshGroff

Great suggestion, Wind-Up Knight is probably the best side-scroller I’ve played in a long time.

      • ty

Thanks for the suggestion! Much, much better game.

  • r0lct

So pay for an ad supported version? Yeah, I’ll probably bite.

  • Butters619

They are just doing everything they can to advertise this movie. I’m a Disney fan, but it’s getting to be a bit ridiculous.

    • JoshGroff

I think the trailer alone was enough to make me want to go see it. Still getting this game though, even if it is just some sort of subliminal marketing ploy.

    • If there is any movie that deserves the hype, it’s a Pixar movie. Well except the Cars movies, those are horrible.

      • JoshGroff

^This, although I did kinda like the first Cars the first time I saw it.

        • Cars was tolerable. I’d say even Cars 2 was slightly tolerable as well, but as Pixar movies, they were garbage, that is unless you like a movie based solely around car puns.

          • JoshGroff

True, compared to say Monster’s Inc or Toy Story, Cars was kind of a fail.

      • They are horrible as Pixar movies. If that was a Dreamworks movie it would have been ok as a Dreamworks movie. We have just come to expect the best from Pixar. When another company makes a movie it could range from a 0-100 but for Pixar it could range from a 50-100.

    • EvanTheGamer

Disney are nothing but greedy bastards. I know that the devs worked hard on this game, but DIsney still could have released it for free, as a show of appreciation to its most loyal of fans. $.99 isn’t much, but still, they are a multi-billion dollar company..could have been free.

      Just my two cents.

      • Kazahani

Why should multimillion dollar corporations go through the trouble of making a game if they’re not going to make a profit?

        • EvanTheGamer

Read what I wrote…”as a show of appreciation to its most loyal of fans…” – Like how the LA Kings did a parade for its fans due to their victory. Why should the LA Kings have a victory parade? Simply because it’s a show of appreciation to its die hard fans. Just saying really.

          • Kazahani

Horse crap. The City of Los Angeles put on that parade, not the Kings. They’re in business to make money, not give away free stuff. Like it or not, but that’s the way the world works…

          • EvanTheGamer

Regardless, it’s still a ‘free’ event to anyone who is willing to go through hordes of happy fans.

I think it’s over now, but I mean, earlier today. Free is still free though. Sure, City of LA probably put it all together, but they could have easily charged people to attend, just as if they were going to a game.
