Ultimate Custom Clock Widget is the WidgetLocker of Clocks, Time to Spend Hours Creating Your Next Look

Our long time DL homie, MrPicolas, turned us onto the Ultimate Custom Clock Widget this weekend and we have been hooked ever since. If you are familiar with WidgetLocker, then you will know how this type of deal works. A developer created what you can call a shell of an app that allows the creative minds in this community to express themselves. What I mean by that, is through UCCW, you are able to load custom clock skins from your favorite designers with ease. This is the type of app that designers tend to flock to, as it gives them an outlet to share their styles and influences through tons of Android devices.

Instructions:

I’ve got to admit, that even I still struggle at times with apps like these, so I’m going to give some basic pointers that will hopefully help you. First step is to install UCCW from the Play Store. Once that is installed, you need to hit up the “Clock Skins” link below and start surfing through them all. Once you find one you like, download it to your phone. From there, you will need to extract the contents of that file into the /sdcard/UltimateCustomClickWidget folder. If the contents extract into a folder, pull them out of that folder and into the UCCW folder. Now, head to a home screen and create a new UCCW widget (4×2 is probably your best bet for a size). Tap on the widget that appears to load the UCCW edit screen, press “menu” and then “Import skins.” You should see the file you downloaded listed and can choose it. Enjoy your new clock!

Those  are “basic,” OK? This stuff can get much more advanced than that, so you will simply need to play with sizes and file locations. As I said, I’m still struggling with some of these as many of the designers do not list out instructions for you to get their clocks to work.

There are some amazing clocks to be had though, so take some time tonight and create your next home screen masterpiece.

  • ObamaisaDouche

  • Chad_wick89

  • ObamaisaDouche

that’s a retarded app that offers nothing

  • galaxynexusprime

How do you get it to save what you’ve done and become a widget??

  • Bigwavedave25

BAD.A!  Thanks for the heads up… I’ve been waiting looking/waiting for something like this.  Kind of like Rainmeter for your phone, sweet!

  • Tim Buchanan

Someone please make one of these:

This is cool, but if you like custom clock widgets you should check out 1010ti.me. It’s like this, except with many more customization capabilities.

  • Shadowme

This is one of the most awesome clock widgets ever made!

  • RBI411

Appears to be the very affordable price of free too. Wish it worked on my Xoom though.

  • Wsiembida

I want to know whAT rom or zip your using for the folders with no icons and only text?

So now, like the example pic, I can see the time 3 times on one screen and this isn’t overkill to anyone, eh? I’m already in the habit of looking into the upper right hand corner of my screen for the time. That’s good enough.

    • brando56894

I usually keep my statusbar hidden and use a clock widget since it looks better.

    your move, apple.

They will simply patent time and the current methods of calculating and displaying it, then sue everyone from NASA all the way down to Little Timmy who wears his first wristwatch to Kindergarten.

Here is an example of what you can do. I used this widget for the clock, weather and notifications:

What is that homescreen setup that pretty badass

    • Bigwavedave25

Sweet, thanks for sharing! (and finding)

    • cizzlen

That is simply bad ass. Thanks for sharing with us

  • Keith Sumner

    B*tch, please.

  • Darthseph23

These apps really need internal skin browsers.

    • Keith Sumner

Yes, while I understand and am capable of unzipping a skin pack, and moving the files into 2 separate folders, it would be more convenient to just select a skin from a list.

      • Darthseph23

Its less the install, then browsing through page after page in a forum.  Beautiful Widgets, HD Widgets and others have them… I’m just surprised so many of these ultimate clock widgets (mclock, this one, and more) don’t implement a simple way to install themes.

Why does a clock/date widget need to be able to read/send SMS and all of your contacts list info?

    • Darthseph23

It’s not designed as a strict Clock/Date widget.  That’s its primary purpose sure, but it allows for far greater customization.  You could use it to make notifications and contact widgets I imagine.

      • http://www.vgchartz.com SuperChunk

….and I should believe a Sith Lord why?

        • Darthseph23

           LOL… not everything a Sith says is a lie… =0)

  • Andrew

    Post your clocks day!

  • RedPandaAlex

I’ll never understand people’s obsession with clock widgets. The time is in your notification bar.

    • Jason Purp

What’s the point of driving to the store instead of walking there? It’s more convenient. And it looks nicer.

      • http://twitter.com/kittygetwet James Sorensen

        Horrible analogy

    • HTC1

because that is what makes our phones different from the I-junks.     that is what always pisses them off.          Nothing better than seeing a fancy clock on your home screen (especially to the people that only see square blocks)!!!!!!!!!!

I’m still looking for the perfect clock. so i’m pumped this came out (not that i can uso it)

      • Jason Purp

“I’ll add a CLOCK to my home screen. THAT’LL SHOW ‘EM.”

You don’t need to prove anything to anybody. It’s a phone. As long as you like it, who really cares?

I understand your point though, to avoid any arguing.

    • Pedro

Not everyone has the vision of a 20-something.

Bigger numbers in a widget make it easier to see at a glance.
      Size matters.

      • http://www.vgchartz.com SuperChunk

         That’s what she said.

    • http://twitter.com/GRZLA Grizzly Atoms

You said it yourself, you don’t understand. So why even try?

    • qmartman711

Ahh- but not many clock widgets can do this-

      • Mjlavorgna

is that this Ultimate Custom Clock Widget?

        • qmartman711

          yes sir!

      • craig1989

Do you have a link to that? I really like it

        • qmartman711

I didn’t create it, but here is where I got the clock base from
          http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1563954

And then I changed a couple of colors.  Once you select the color, adjust all the texts of that color at the same time- it’s a simple paste per element.

  • Jason Purp

“Those  are ‘basic,’ OK? This stuff can get much more advanced than that…”

    Is that a threat?

  • Greg Morgan

    downloading to test now.

    • Jk8

thanks for letting us know. we were wondering.
