Show Off Your Home Screens Day!

It is spring and that means it is time to show off everyone’s wonderful home screens! It has been a while since we last posted one of these, so put forth your sexiest setup and let the world in on your secrets. We tend to believe that our community is the best in the world here at Droid Life and are always curious to see how your phones are looking. With the Galaxy Nexus and many other HD phones having been out for months now, you should have had plenty of time to get them looking beautiful. Let’s see what you’ve made.

  1. For those with the Galaxy Nexus, you have native screenshots! You can take screenshots by pressing in Power and Volume Down at the same time and holding for 2-3 seconds.
  2. If you do not have a G-Nex, you can either screenshot in adb (we have a tutorial for you here) or root and use something like Screenshot ER.
  3. Once you have your screenie, upload it to whichever image hosting website you use and then paste the URL that ends with the file name (.png, .jpg, .gif, etc.) into the comments.
  4. Feel to share your widgets, wallpapers, and other apps used to get to your look.

Amanda, what clock widget is that? Tx

      • AmandaLea5521

It’s a clock I made using Make Your Clock Pro. I’m weirdly obsessed with clocks for my phone so I love Make Your Clock. I have the pro version, but there’s also a free version, but it doesn’t have quite as many options.

Thanks!  I can stop looking for it in Play (still odd to call the market that).  Great Job!

This is an honest question, and I’m not picking on anyone in particular…

Why do so many people fill up their screen with app shortcuts? There are so many ways to hide them and combine them, why put them all over the place like iOS forces their users to do?

I mean, Android is about choice, and I support y’all having your screens any way you want them, I’m just wondering why some people like that?

    • jonny c

       i agree, different strokes…

personally, i use swipe pad and a couple dock pages to store my shortcuts (the ability to add folders in the dock in ICS is huge). my homescreens generally will only have a single widget if anything.

that said, i do like some of the “busier” homescreens where people have shortcuts but dress them up with custom skins to fit their homescreen’s theme. as for the seemingly random placement of shortcuts with stock folders/icons some have (i.e. my wife), i don’t get it either but, hey, whatever makes them happy.

Stock root. No custom ROMs, no fancy icons. Just a plain Jane tribute to the greatest band ever. http://i.imgur.com/0mcX8.png

I was inspired today by all these screens to finally change mine. Super minimalist, as far as stock goes.

GNex running AOKP b28 and the Nexus Plus theme featured the other day. Found the wallpaper on a forum, using Simple Text icons. This is my main screen; I use 3. The left one has one large Agenda Widget calendar, and the right one has a 1weather widget. I really like things simple.

Sorry for the triple uploading…had trouble linking my screenshot. Here it is!

  • sam4327

I’m going to sound completely dumb, but every time I save one of these great backgrounds to my phone and set as the wallpaper it gets completely distorted. I can’t choose the whole picture for whatever reason and it forces me to crop it down causing the picture to be larger than it should and distorted. I’m assuming there is a way to fix this. Any help?

    1. Perform the all important Nandroid backup just in case
    2. Download the icon to your SD card.3. Use Root Explorer to copy the .apk file of the app you want to edit to your sdcard4. Unzip the app5. Copy the icon of your choice to the res/drawable folder of the extracted app6. Rename the old ic_application.png (original icon file) file to .old (or whatever)7. Rename the new icon to the same thing as the old one (ic_application.png)8. Rezip the entire app up, and then rename it from .zip, to .apk9. Place the app back into the system/app or data/app folder that you pulled the app from originally10. Reboot11. Place the icon back on the homescreen if you want it there,
