Video: Sneak Peek at the New CM9 Boot Animation

Your new CM9 boot animation. Love it?

Via:  Google+, Phandroid

  • Hreality

    Cm meets Dr who!

  • Android has reached critical mass!

  • I normally don’t like CM boot animation very much but that one is pretty sweet.

    • Josh Groff

With how often the typical user resets their phone, I don’t think it much matters, but that was pretty sweet.

  • Only if it has that music too

  • I’d rather have a proper and fully functional CM9 release for my TouchPad

  • Definitely a cool animation but….pink bad ass unicorns man…I’M JUST SAYIN BRO!

  • I like it, but CM9 is going to have to do A LOT to break me away from AOKP.

  • New_Guy

    Can I just say, “wow.”

  • SD_Scott

    That’s pretty sexy…

  • Im thinking more Gotta have it myself…..

  • EvanTheGamer

That’s pretty awesome. Too bad it can’t be used on a non-CM9 ROM. haha

  • czechm8

It’s nice, but I’d be more interested in an actual stable CM9 build for the Gnex!

  • looks like official cm9 is just around the corner for my gnex

  • PC_Tool

    Nice.  Can’t wait.

  • Rcpresti

Awsome….love it cant wait any longer galaxy tab 10.1 baby!!!!

  • Kuboo99

    That’s pretty boss.

  • Travisjshepherd

any news on a release of CM9 on gnex?

  • Captain_Doug

  • but i also listened to that with no sound on my computer. idk if i want a boot animation with sound

    • EC8CH

it probably doesn’t have sound in the actual boot animation

  • I WANT!

  • Waltassault

I like it but I prefer BA’s with out the Mod teams name all over them. makes it a little easier for me to tweak it and make it my own.

  • that is epic.

  • ddevito

Running 4.0.4 stock, rooted – and loving it (minus my Google wallet issue). Does anyone know what features this will have that might wow us? Honestly I love ICS the way it is, perhaps for some customization options but otherwise I’m not sure what the fuss will be about in CM9

    • BrianWalls

I’ve been back and forth on the same point. Currently I used Codename as my rom because it doesn’t visually screw with things. I can use the performance options, add the notification widgets, etc without some goofy icons. ICS really was a huge step for me personally. I always tweaked damn near everything when it came to gingerbread. Codename + Nova Launcher = Yum.

      • ddevito

        agreed. We’ll see soon enough.

Of course if it means I can get Google Wallet back then I’ll be the first person to flash it

    • AlexKCMO

I heard some of the 7.2 KANGs had T9 Smart Dialing baked into the framework of the ROM (like Sense, Blur, TouchWiz do).  This way you get the benefits of Smart Dialing, but not the limitations of an App.

I’m guessing this is something that will be in CM9, or at least one of the KANGs.

      • ddevito

I see, that’d be sweet. Thanks

  • Holy. Freaking. Crap.

Planning an hourly reboot as soon as I can get this on my phone.

  • DanWazz

I dig it. Eagerly awaiting CM9.

  • Had a little nerdgasm there.

  • It’s ok I guess.  I’m not a fan of fancy, over the top boot animations.  I would rather just have the Google logo fade in and out or something.

  • ddevito

It’s nice, but was it necessary to make such a production video out of it?  :p

(what excited me more was seeing the GNex at the end of the video) – which tells me the code was optimized for it.

    • Jason Purp

       What a surprise!!!

      • ddevito

Aren’t you a GNex owner too? If so, wtf?

It’s hard to write negative comments to a goofy pink bunny.

        • Jason Purp

I am a Galaxy Nexus owner. But I already knew that CM9 would directly support the phone. lol

          • ddevito

            I see

        • Spencer Shadley

It’s a Nexus, of course they will support it.

    • Technically you can see the GNex right before the animation starts as well. (0:17) 🙂

    • GazaIan

‘The code was optimized for it it’ Huh? Bootanimation.zip is comprised solely of images, and one text file. No code involved.

      • ddevito

Um, yes, thanks for the code development 101 lecture.

I was referring to the fact that since the GNex was in the video most likely they wrote and tested the code on it also, hence optimization. I’m implying not stating.

  • DanKemple

    love it!

  • TeflonBilly

    This is pretty good.

  • Rampagedeluxe

It would be fantastic if it played the “Doctor Who” theme song.

  • svnet

I like it better than unicorns!

    • EC8CH

      • pezjono

(For those that don’t get it, when you disable the boot animation in the KANG builds, it calls you a jerk)

        • mons

Interesting.  I’m on AOKP, and haven’t disabled the boot animations….but the unicorn did prompt me to seek out new bootanimations.

Tons of them there, thanks to JaeKar99, all in zip packages for easy flashing.

        • KleenDroid

Ha, the first time I turned it off and was called a “Jerk” I turned it back on…. I didn’t want to be a jerk.

    • Mike McKee

Don’t be hatin’ on the unicorns!

  • EC8CH

    8-bit audio + kickass boot animation =

    • John

haha…yep. i felt like i just listened to an old midi file or played an NES game

  • Justin Phillips

    Awesome! I like it.

  • duke69111

Very Cool, but what’s with the skateboard in all of there releases.

    • EC8CH

      that’s the cyanogen mod android

  • Kiter86

    sweet.  no unicorns though 🙁

  • trumpet444

that is awesome. maybe my OG can chug through it?

  • OreoMan

I can see myself rebooting my phone at least five times a day to watch that!

    • Most Android phones will do that for you throughout the day! I kid, I kid…kinda.

      • KleenDroid

  • Sweet

  • Van Hicks, Jr

I WANT IT NAO!!! That is Bad @$$!!
