How fitting that it gets released on Bill of Rights day. When we all believe we have the right to choose or own phone and our own OS.

I have to work and my Verizon store opens at 10! Sending the BF to go get it for me =) very excited

  • Got it! Paid full retail, but I can sell my Bionic to recover some of that. So worth it already!

A lot of people are asking about keeping their unlimited data plans, especially if they tried to upgrade, and were told that they’d have to sign up for a new data plan, losing the unlimited.

The problem is that the clerks in the store, have often barely been trained how to ring up a phone, much less how to override the system when it tries to automatically sign everything up as if it’s a new account.

Don’t worry though.  All you have to do is call customer service after you leave.  They can see your account details, including what they were before the change, and can easily put things back the way they were.

    • Yes. You always have the option to keep whatever you had before. Unlimited Data plans can be grandfathered in and the tiered plan will be dropped.

    Gnex in hand!
5 People waiting outside the local VZW store. None of us were baristas.

    • Store does not open until 9am here in WI. Leaving in about 10 minutes, my two are already on hold!

  • guest

Still not available at bestbuy because they’re a-holes

    • none

I went to bestbuy yesterday trying to see if they could sell one early the clerk mentioned they have to actually ship the nexus back and (this particular???) best buy MAY not even carry it.

  • Can some people give reports on the lines out on the east coast?

    • At my one local store in affluent, suburban Philadelphia, there was no line.  They had enough sales reps to handle the 3 guys waiting for the doors to open at 8:00.  While I was buying my phone, 2 more guys showed up, nobody had to wait.  A woman walked in around 8:20 but she just had a question about her own phone.  Plenty of GNex’s in stock.

      • Nice thanks.  There was 13 dudes waiting out here in the cold in Colorado.  There were like 5 poor saps that came in after opening who had just normal phone questions.  I felt bad for them.

COMMERCIAL….Niiiiiiiice…..just saw an actual Verizon COMMERCIAL on tv for the Galaxy Nexus! Sure, it wasn’t a super hyped up ad, but it was a TV ad nonetheless….a Christmas theme, pushing it as a perfect gift and highlighting “video chat with up to 9 of your friends.”

  • And please CHECK that you are the Account Owner or Account Manager on your wireless plan.  If you are not the Account Owner or an Account Manager you will not be able to do the upgrade.  The guy behind me in line had to step out of line while his mom made him an Account Manager, took like 20 minutes of him waiting for his mom to do it.

  • GOT IT!  Walked into my local Verizon Wireless store at 8:00 AM, was the second in line of 5 dudes all getting the Nexus, walked out 25 minutes later with my new phone.  Manager said he had plenty in stock.

  • ruhawaiian

Ordered my phone this morning around 1 this morning :)!!  I prefer that I activate the device rather than a Verizon salesperson at the store messing around with it before I can.

I think at 9:01 this morning TAPS should be played for all the OG’s that are retiring.

  • Heather W

    Happy Galaxy Nexus Day everyone!

  • Ha ha, here is the new VZW promo.

  • J35u5

Hopping in the shower. Bout to go grab my phone in about an hour.  Atlanta.

  • Miked333

Does anyone know why some people got to keep their unlimited data and some people (like me) had to switch?  Should I just call customer service after I get the phone and ask them to switch me back?

    • JT

Yes.  I’ve had my local Verizon Store screw up my account before, or tell me that I had to do something that I didn’t think was right.  Just call customer service, and they’ll set it straight.

  • Anonymous

Happy Galaxy Nexus Day everybody! I wish you all good luck, a lot of fun, and good times watching videos while you’re on the crapper with its 4.65in 720p HD goodness.

Whoever gets the Nexus, say I!

  • Stewie

I have the $300, but want my long overdue upgrade, keeping my unlimited plan, will that occur and could it be $50 off for the upgrade?

  • CoFoltman84

gotta say. i’ve been on the fence about switching from my Razr(it’s a good phone, dispite blur and all of you Moto haters). But when i got the VZW email this morning saying it was released, I packed up my Razr box and am heading to the VZW store after work to see the Nexus in my hand…we’ll see what happens from there…

  • just ordered mine! woohoo

  • Damn.. I can either get this phone tonight.. or.. I can wait just a lil bit more for the Galaxy Nexus S.. 😀

Btw.. I wonder how F*ckFace feels about how a lot of Razr owners are returning it for this device 😀

  • forgiventhief

Newegg has them for 219.99 new contract and 249.99 on upgrade

  • forgiventhief

Anybody know if the corporate store will give me the $50 discount I have for device upgrade I have on Verizon’s site? I’d rather have it in hand tomorrow, but if they won’t give me the $50 discount at the corporate store, i will order online. Anybody know?

  • Anonymous

The Grinch has just smiled 🙂

  • That’s FANTASTIC news… Hey, can i borrow $300? 😉

  • Interiorposterior

Will the constant posts about the Galaxy Nexus finally come to a much deserved end? Not likely. I just hope this means the end of every non-Nexus related news getting spammed by impatient, snobby and butthurt Galaxy Nexus fans.

  • Anonymous

Odd. The Verizon page for the Nexus says 32 GB microSD preinstalled. They probably just saw that it has 32 GB storage and assumed that it was on an SD.

    • David Salsburg

      I noticed that too.

Just ordered mine thru vzw I’ll have it fri!

    • joe3

Did you receive tracking information already?

    • …How are you going to have yours on friday?? Geez, I want that shipping option instead!.. I ordered mine like 40mins ago, and I know it wont ship till tomorrow, making me maybe hopefully get it on Saturday, if not then Monday.

      • Anonymous

VZW.com defaults to free overnight shipping. So it would ship tomorrow and arrive Friday.

      • Gianna R Lomax

Because I chose the expedited shipping for an extra $13.

  • Awoodx

I got it ordered mine just before ten pm on the Verizon Website unlimited data remained I  had the phone added to my bill no problem. Pretty easy going I am happy to report .Assuming friday is delivery day with free overnight shipping … cannot wait .I hope everyone enjoys there new Toy.:)).

    • Man, I got free 2-day shipping. Overnight for $12.99. Went with free. Dammit.

  • David Salsburg

Ordered online. Success.  Rep assured me that any phones over $149.99 they will automatically ship overnight.  So he had me select the $12.99 overnight option (FREEOVRNT promo is not valid anymore), and they will credit me.  Also – i had to pick a new plan as well, which is annoying since i have a corporate unlimited data plan.
Rep also assured me that once i get the phone activated, i just have to call back into Customer Service and they will put my old plan back.  He even suggested i take the email of the chat transcript and keep it for proof (which i did). Note to everyone – online order waives the 35 activation fee (if an upgrade).. every time i have upgraded at brick and mortar VZW they always have dinged me that activation fee.  So i save $35 bucks, and wait one extra day for a fedex delivery on friday!

    • Anonymous

I’m probably going to go with LetsTalk and save $125 and get it on Friday with their free overnight. I would really like it tomorrow though…

  • ORDERED!  Yea baby!

  • Illwillnukka

I just finished putting through my online order. The price came to $269. 99 plus tax and then another $13 for overnight shipping…

  • OBIE

    Ordered…..unlimited data intact…..life it good 🙂

  • 11 hours 40 minutes till stores open on the West Coast, I’ll be there waiting to throw my money at them.

Edit: just got an email from Verizon announcing the phone, hmmm a little slow. lol

  • GuySmiley

ordered and done!  now the good kind of waiting begins!

  • none

its 1:18am EST and u still can’t buy the thing. You get redirected from the VZW site

  • RSone

Ordered!  Got to keep unlimited plan, though had to change SMS plan.  Overnight shipping wont get here til Monday thought since its (considerably) after 4:30pm.

    • Anonymous

What did you change about sms plan? How much extra was it?

      • RSone

I was on an old blackberry plan.  Choices were 250 for $5 or 1000 for $10.  I went with B)

  • Just ordered mine online. (I would have gone to a store to help out a representative, but none of the retailers around me have phones yet.) Cost me $250 with a $50 credit, and I got to keep my unlimited plan. All good here!

    • Same here with the stores. I’m getting up early to drive an hour north to an actual Verizon Store who has them. Worth it I think.

  • already has over 60 FB likes. sweeeeeet

  • Graham Wilson

it says its 289? weird! i though it was gonna be 299!

  • Miked333

VZ Wireless wouldn’t let me keep my unlimited plan.  I couldn’t complete the order until I chose a new plan (4GB for $30).

    • Yeah, me either.  I think I’ll just call back once I receive the phone and activate it.  Either way, I never used 4GB before.
