Verizon is Giving Away a DROID RAZR Every Day in December (Updated)

To celebrate the holidays, and help move some dusty inventory Verizon has decided to give away a DROID RAZR every day during the month of December (well, 30 of them anyway). The contest asks that you fill out a simple form and then share word of the giveaway through either Facebook or Twitter. It really doesn’t get any simpler than this.

Update:  A couple of readers pointed out one of the rules listed in the fine print that reads “Must be a legal resident of NC, SC, TN, AL, GA, FL, MS, AR, LA, OK, and TX 18 years or older to enter.” So apparently if you aren’t living in 1 of the 11 states listed, you can’t win? Doesn’t seem fair.

Enter.

Cheers Jonathan!

I am SOOO sick of all the GNex talk in every comment. I almost want the phone to completely fail so everyone just shuts up. And, before one of you says it to me, yes I am mad bro. If you aren’t a dev. then basically any of these recent (within the last month) phones on verizon are great (except since the Rezound has sound issues).

and apparently from a GOP state

  • Dpry3580

I assume everyone here knows about the restock fees? They are the same through the holidays. Call and ask how much it is. You may rethink your downgrade to the Nexus.

  • Dpry3580

The 3 reps working at Verizon tonight where I bought this very cool LapDock, ALL wish they’d waited for the Razr like I did. One of them got a Charge, and two got Bionics. Not ONE of them are interested in the Nexus. They all want the Razr. Why would you get the Nexus over the Razr? I’m honestly curious. I’ve checked them both out on line, and I still could change if I wanted to. The Razr hasn’t disappointed me in ANY way, and turnned out to be way more than expected. Now with this LapDock, it’s amazing. AT costco, I got a fee HD Dock, HD cable, and several other freebies with the phone. All for 289.

Seems fair to me, but I live in SC…. But I promise, I’m not biased!

  • Dbarden31

It would be nice to win and give to my wife as a Christmas gift. But I never win these things ha

This page has a crap ton of contests to enter.

    http://www.verizoninsider.com/Contests/Pages/Contests-Landing-Page.aspx

Not all of them are applicable, but you will probably find a few to enter. Just read the rules.

    Hello Dirty Myrtle

  • Nope

When you lock the bootloader, this is the only recourse I guess…

Its nice to see they are trying to make room for the G-Nexus for whenever they decide to unleash it. Or are they making room for the over the weekend rumor of the Droid RazrMax? Either case they are both welcome in my book.

  • http://MakeCash2.com Nicole James

@google-a3add8f4fe24a9e86721d84756461c2d:disqus If I were to win, I’d sell that shit to buy a nexus..my buddy’s step-sister made $196628 so far just working on the computer for a few hours. Go to this web site and read more… http://x.co/bZPu

  • Sebastian Encina

As many have stated, they are limiting which states will win anything, but also, I tried this Twitter thing through them and got this message:

This application will be able to:Read Tweets from your timeline.
See who you follow, and follow new people.
    Update your profile.
    Post Tweets for you.
So I have no chance to win anything, and you take over my Twitter account to act as a spambot for you? Seems fair.

  • Vaporware

Droid Life is getting disgraceful. Sad. When is the name change going to happen?

  • Anonymous

    Yeah well…fuck you Verizon

  • Anonymous

I hope I win. Nothing like being able to sell this phone for a better one. Goodbye Sprint, hello again Big Red

  • Anonymous

Call the other states and ask why their laws do not allow this contest….

  • Dave

Slow sales of the Droid RAZR much, hmm Verizon? Sounds like the only cure is a Nexus to wet your subscribers’ appetites.

  • Dtr920

sooooo… if im not a legal resident of the following states “NC, SC, TN, AL, GA, FL, MS, AR, LA, OK, and TX ” i cant win?!?! wtf!

  • http://twitter.com/EatMoreFat Eat Fat, Get Fit.

sweet… blow up my facebook and twitter to win a phone i don’t want.

sure, i can sell it…for 4 or 5 hundred…but just doesn’t seem worth it ostracizing my friends over.

    • Anonymous

Set up a dummy Twitter and don’t tell your friends about it. Problem solved. Look up @punchdrunkbrian:twitter to see what I’m talking about :)

damn me and my blonde moments.

  • faber

Couldn’t give me that locked up junk.

  • Anonymous

    Those are some ass-backwards states.

  • jimbob

I’d rather not live in any of those states and be without a RAZR.

    • Anonymous

NC, SC, LA, and TX are pretty interesting states. Don’t be so negative.

      • bigrob60

Hey now, Florida is interesting. It has Gatorland!!!!

        • Anonymous

Hah, I can only speak about the states I’ve visited. Never been to Florida.

  • Jovan Givens

“Under no circumstances are we to let the Galaxy Nexus outsell the RAZR”

    -Verizon

    • Anonymous

that’s why they are giving them away, that’s the only way they can get rid of those razr’s

    • Interiorposterior

A lot of people were so sure that the Nexus One was going to outsell the first Droid and that it was going to be one of the best selling Android devices. It didn’t even come close. I highly doubt the Galaxy Nexus will outsell the Razr considering that the Razr is marketed more and the general public are oblivious to the Galaxy Nexus. Besides its NFC, ICS, and it’s screen resolution, it’s not really that much better than the rest of the phones out today.

      • Dpry3580

Again, I wouldn’t take a Nexus over my Razr, nor would the SME’s for either product at the ATL Verizon store.

    • Guest

      LOL!! you nailed it!

  • Lolercom

droid razr sucks.  just a slimmer binoic and will be outdated in a few days when moto releases a new version, just as it does to all of its phones

    • Drew

You do realize that Moto is only the supplier, while Verizon is the retailer who cannibalizing it’s own inventory. I’m not sure how this strategy is working, but their shareholders must be happy, since their stock has increased in value by 16.35% in the past 52 weeks. In comparison, AT&T’s stock has only risen 1.07% in the past 52 weeks.

    • Dpry3580

You don’t like your Razr? You must have one if you know it sucks. What carrier are you going with since they do this with all phones?

  • Anonymous

    Great phone.

  • http://twitter.com/Cbake88 Chad Baker

So are these the ONLY states that are eligible?  If so only 11 out of 50 States are eligable.  NOT VERY COOL

Must be a legal resident of NC, SC, TN, AL, GA, FL, MS, AR, LA, OK, and TX 18 years or older to enter

  • Anonymous

Who cares Verizon. Nobody wants a Razr. Everyone wants a Nexus, DUH.

    • Dpry3580

Man, you’re gonna miss out. I wouldn’t take two Nexus for my 1 Razr, DUH!

  • Greg Williams

If I win, can I exchange it for a Nexus?

  • CivilDroid

If i win this phone it will make a great place to rest my Nexus so it doesnt have to touch my desk.

    • http://www.facebook.com/TJHRULZ tjhrulz

Touch that is worse than touching your desk

  • Stephen Partington

Heads up, READ the things the Facebook share wants you to give them access to. Its just about everything.

  • Mkelleygcsi

just picked up one of these yesterday after having a droid charge.  Honestly, i miss the charge.  This phone is way too wide with its bezel and in my honest opinion a little too thin.  Im ultimately going to be returning it for the G Nex but i figured i would give it a try.  I had the OG droid and the droid x and they were both great phones, but im starting to hate motorola amd all their bloatware (this phone is FILLED with it).  oh and i have a dead pixel and its not even a day old.  might try the rezound or just badger verizon stores to give me a G Nex haha.

    • Jason

I think you only get one return so be careful. I got the razr to with the new return policy. I like the phone but it does seem to thin and light. I feel like I am going to break it. I’m returning for the Gnex as well. Just check on the returns beofre you get another phone.

      • http://twitter.com/Cbake88 Chad Baker

Check out Costco.  Costco = 90 day return policy

        • Jason

That is a Costco return policy but if you use your upgrade and you go back to return it after VZW (normally) 14 day return policy you will not be able to use said upgrade on another phone. That is Verizon that sets that not Costco. Vzw did just recently update their return policy for the holidays. You can now keep a phone you get till Jan 15th. I am sure there old return policy will go back into affect after this.

          • http://twitter.com/MagicalGoose No Name

My OG Droid’s screen finally broke, so I upgraded to an Incredible 2 which I promptly returned when I got my girlfriend’s old phone to use as a replacement.  I am still able to use my upgrade again, but I am pretty sure I will not be able to return a phone again.

          • shdowman

Indeed. But you CAN exchange up to 90 days.

        • Dpry3580

That’s where I got mine. You get a $120 bonus accessory bundle as well. HD Dock, HD cable, screen protectors, case, car charger, etc. And it’s all for 289. There’s still a restock fee through Verizon, and it’s well over $100.

      • Anonymous

Verizon has extended their return policy for the holiday’s, FYI. It started on Nov. 15 and you now have until January 15 to return any device, once. I bought the shite RAZR only to hold me over until the G Nex comes out. It better be out before the 15th of January!!! :-P

  • Brian lippman

Alright, follow me on this. Verizon should run a contest where you have to, I dunno, pay them 200 – 300 dollars and you are put on some sort of… Let’s call it a contract, and you get a Galaxy Nexus. They could even start it this week!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Forte/542650247 Michael Forte

Hey how about you hand over a free RAZR to a Bionic owner, Verizon?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=25001493 Hank Godwin

Why would they do that?  You purchased the Bionic without anyone forcing it on you.

    • http://boardsandbrews.wordpress.com Enzy

Hey, how about you tell your brother Matt to man up, I need him for my fantasy playoffs.

      • Mlarson6

        Hahaha yeah!
        Me too

        • hkklife

As annoyed as I am by my Bionic and its lack of updates, I love the Moto extended battery on my DB. I would not be a happy camper trying to make it through a full workday on a RAZR so I probably would not take them up on a trade-in offer unless i could immediately turrn around and sell tthe RAZR and apply the $ to buying a G-Ne or trading a Bionic in on a G-Nex outright.

  • K6tcher

ugh! Another “social” contest that requires a Twitter or Facebook account. No worries… they are only giving away Razrs. I would register a Facebook account for a Nexus contest however.

  • Anonymous

Is this contest only valid in the 11 states it lists???  That’s stupid:
No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. Must be a legal resident of NC, SC, TN, AL, GA, FL, MS, AR, LA, OK, and TX 18 years or older to enter. Final sweepstakes ends December 30, 2012 at 11:59pm PST. Please see Official Rules for all sweepstakes entry dates and complete details. Yeah… wth?

    • runningaaronds

I just read that, too!!!!  WTF?!?!?!

  • Sdg7

Looks like they finally gave up on the Razr, needa give ‘em away. Make way for the Nexus, lolz

  • Greg Morgan

Aw Verizon is giving back to their customers! :P

  • http://twitter.com/B_Landfried Brandon Landfried

“Void where prohibited. Must be a legal resident of NC, SC, TN, AL, GA, FL, MS, AR, LA, OK, and TX 18 years or older to enter.” probably should mention that somewhere in the article.

Thank you, just deleted my tweet.

    • http://twitter.com/kevineats Kevin Davis

So no point in entering since I’m CA?

    • Anonymous

Since they used “AND” you actually have to be a legal resident of all of those states to win!

      • http://www.facebook.com/TJHRULZ tjhrulz

        *Back at the Motorola Offices

        “Trololololololol”

Ha! Thats how the bastards get out of giving ANY of the phones away.

What a bunch of horse shit.

Looks like the SEC wins again.  Six national championships in a row and now this?

  • http://twitter.com/DustinG18045 Dustin Gerlach

If I were to win, I’d sell that shit to buy a nexus.

  • FortitudineVincimus

another contest that requires you to whore yourself out on social media for the benefit of marketing for the sponsor

    • Anonymous

Yeah, I set up a dummy twitter account just for this stuff

    • Keith Sumner

yes, what a shame that you have to “whore” yourself out in order to win a free phone. Life is so hard.

      • FortitudineVincimus

Really? Tens of thousands of schmucks will tweet some stupid phrase FOR them just for a “chance” to win.. 31 will win. Who makes out on this deal? So yeah, I see it as whoring yourself out as your only doing it to get something, your not just altruistically tweeting about Moto because you like them.

        • Anonymous

But how does that affect YOU in any way? Let people do what they want.

        • Murphy

          …and if you win, you’d sing a different tune…am I close?

        • Anonymous

Doing something to get something. Hmmm… Seems like everyone does that doesnt it. Dont you go to work (doing something) to get money (to get something) ?

        • Anonymous

          Hey FortitudineVincimus…
I WON! I guess i’m a whore now. But i’m a whore with a RAZR i can sell for parts or a Nexus. My choice.

    • Anonymous

You should really get a new cup that isn’t always half empty.

    • Brady McEwen

first, just create a fake twitter account, then they don’t get any publicity, you friends don’t have to see you stupid tweets, and you don’t have to be a whore.

second, if it wasn’t for things like this they wouldn’t even be having a contest, would that make you happier? They fund these contests because it’s free advertising!!!

  • Anonymous

    Meh. Waiting on Nexus news…

  • Anonymous

It’s to make a few lucky people feel better when the RAZR Max hits in January.

  • http://www.joshbroton.com Josh Broton

They’ll give a way free RAZRs but not give away a Galaxy Nexus release date.

Yes, I had to go there.
