Samsung Teases “Something Big” for September 1 IFA Event

We are fully expecting Samsung to make their plans for the U.S. release of the Galaxy S II public on August 29 in NYC, but there may be something extra coming just days after.  Today, a teaser video for their IFA event on September 1st was pushed to Youtube and most definitely features some sort of phone, although it’s highlighted in gold so you can’t actually see what it is.  The video ends with a “Something Big Is Coming” line which we’re hoping means big screens (4.5″+), big data (LTE), and big processors.  There is no telling if this teaser is for a Euro release only (IFA takes place in Berlin) or if this could have to do with their NYC announcement.  We’re certainly hoping for the latter.

  • I just paíd $22.85 for an íPad 2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.78 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $625 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, Centb.côm

This is very similar to there last samsung commercial for the original teaser of the SGS II. Anyone remember. And they kinda of made the mistake where you could see the phone in a reflection becasue the reflection did not have the glowy twilight thing going for it to hide it. So looks like they learned there lesson

Nevermind its just PACKED with the UN on top of the box…. See nothing…….. Like i said

  • Al Heasley

Hey Kellex….. I dont know if you noticed inside the box at the end of the youtube video when the wave hits it the box kinda breaks open and there’s a word inside in bold print…… I have watched it severl times and cant seem to make it out….. PA somthing….. Maybe its nothing…. But there is something definitely written inside….. I only caught it after watching and pausing the video at different points……. Anyway just passing it along……

  • Why would you think that a show in Berlin would be used to annoounce anything related to the Galaxy SII?  The phone has been release around the world for about half a year.  It is only the US still waiting for it.  I would guess it is for the next big phone.  Which has been my worry.

With how much the S2 has been delayed in the US, its going to be old tech before it is 6 months old…

The Moterola is already out with a similar processor.  Also, Samsung already has a newer version in preperation for release from what I’ve read.

    • Jared Kirk

      We can only hope

  • Maybe it’s a 17″ Galaxy tab.
Or a Galaxy S II with 5 processors.
Or maybe it’s gonna be presented by an overweight woman.

  • Hiway12

please give me something, anything so I can throw my TBolt in the toilet where it belongs

  • So that makes two major OEMs announcing something on September 1st

    First HTC, and now Samsung

  • What about big battery capacity? My charge seems to suck it like it is going out of style.

I hope it’s the original Galaxy S2 that Galaxy fans have been seeing. If they start adding stuff like keyboards and changing processors may affect the performance of the phone and I’m sure SGS2 fans want that same performance we have been seeing and the phone has built it’s reputation on. I also hope this phone does come to Verizon along side the Bionic cause these power-house phone deserve a great FAST network like Verizon’s. Cause even a great phone without a good network gets very frustrating. So many apps rely on a good network.

Something big is coming… something so big, you’ll be too distracted by your phone to ever spot all the oddly hip and happy people on the street whose eyes are also eternally glued to theirs

  • FortitudineVincimus

whatever it is, it is not good enough to keep that guy from checking out that chick in the opening scene

  • Blood

@ 00:10 you could see the girl texting so its must be Galaxy with a keyboard?

  • Steve Jobs is gonna Sh*t his pannies & sue Samsung for releasing a new device before they did!!

  • I am also writing to make you understand what a fabulous experience my friend’s girl undergone going through your web page. She discovered so many details, which include what it is like to have an amazing giving heart to make a number of people quite simply know specific specialized subject areas. You actually did more than her expected results. I appreciate you for showing such productive, safe, explanatory and in addition cool tips about this topic to Sandra.

  • Sept 1=Thursday.  A Verizon specific, LTE enabled SGII announcement?

    • Why would it be held in Berlin then?  according to the YouTube video, the keywords include 4G LTE, so its likely the CELOX and the QWERTY S2  along with the Super AMOLED HD screens

  • That ad resembles the Galaxy SII teaser that was shown off last year around December, the phone being concealed under a glowing flare was the same technique.

Its definitely a phone as from the teaser the guy makes a phone call or is talking to someone

It could be the global launch of the CELOX or it could be a whole new line of Galaxy S2 devices using the new Super AMOLED HD displays.

We get our news first lol, in about 11 days. Anyone excited? 😛

EDIT: Users take note, this event is for Berlin so its a international device launch, which is why Samsung is having there own for the US on the 29th of August before that event.

    • i like your idea … “something big” .. hd display.. makes sense.

    • Anonymous

Which means they are going to dump a subpar 3G device on us the 29th the release a 4G celox type device everywhere else the 1st. Lame.

      • If thats the case, I’m waiting for the Vigor

the YouTube video has hints thats its definitely an announcement for 4G LTE support since its in the keywords for the video.

  • Sitrick2

They’re announcing that they’re ditching TouchWiz and the GS2 will come standard with CM7. #yeahright

  • Anonymous

Come on Sammy!  Bring that Galaxy S II to the US of A! I’ll be ditch’n my crappy TBolt for this in December for sure!

  • i think its the 5″ ipod competitor.

    • They already announced that this year at MWC in February – http://reviews.cnet.com/2300-6501_7-10007076.html?s=0&o=10007076

      • my bad.. didnt know there was a release date for it already.

i guess it must be a phone.. but what business does a us release have in berlin.. it cant be the SGS2.

How about the Galaxy S II or Nexus Prime!?

    • Anonymous

I would love for it to be the Nexus but that’s more of a Google announcement plus they haven’t shown Ice Cream Sandwich yet so Samsung wouldn’t he able to show much. I think it will be the Super AMOLED HD announcement, and they’ll probably show that new 7 inch tab that uses it. Hopefully they give us a glipse of the new Nexus since it’s supposed to have a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED HD display.
