HTC Tablet Shows Up in Trademark Filing as “Scribe”

We haven’t heard all that much from HTC in the tablet game, but this new trademark filing for the word “SCRIBE” is a sign that they are ready to take flight.  There are a few rumors in the wild that suggest HTC could have multiple tablets in 2011, but other than that, the details have been locked up tight.  And how do we know that SCRIBE is even a tablet?  Well because the trademark says, “Handheld wireless device, namely, a tablet computer.”  Of course, we have no idea if this will be Android, but one would assume so.

HTC has an open house next Thursday at CES and we’re hoping to see this new player in action.  Or they could just show off the HTC Thunderbolt since their event follows Verizon’s 4G LTE press gathering.  Check out our exclusive pics of the device here.

They should call it the HTC Crack of Lightning. Makes about as much sense as Thunderbolt.

Just what I need, another choice. Seriously, I was dead set that I was buying the Moto until I read this, which may be worth waiting for info about. Big change from just 2 months ago, when HTC said they were still “watching the tablet market”.

I'd go for HTC over Motorola on a tablet. Do Motorola tablets explode if you try to root them, or just sting you?

    • kellex

Explode with a touch of stingyness.

Let the battle of the Tablets begin!!! Hopefully this will be a the year where the consumer will make out on the battle of tablets out there. I am hoping for some really good technology from the Android development, with a lot of the features we keep bring up on the blog. But, time will tell if 2011 is the break out year of The Droid in the tablet space as well as the cell/device space. Good to see some competition from HTC and can't wait to see how an HTC tablet will compete with Moto and iCrap. Third 🙂
