Google Instant Search Coming to Android “Later this Fall”

Google announced their new “Instant Search” this morning and during the presentation, managed to slip in a quick Motorola Droid demo.  Yep, Instant Search is apparently headed to Android “later this fall.”

Update:  Apparently if you visit this site from your phone you can test it now:  http://jmt20.google.com/m?sky=psy

What is Instant Search? A game changer. Instead of having to type out a search query and hit “enter” or click the “search” button, results are displayed for you on the fly or “instantly.”  This is really hard to explain, so I suggest you just watch the video below and have your mind blown.

Who’s starting the “I love Google!” chant?

  • Google search app for Windows phone 7 is also launched now sans the google instant right now. http://techshrimp.com/2010/11/09/google-search-app-for-windows-phone-7-launched/

  • Why must they always have the old person to show you how its done? I mean is it sentiment?

  • The link to try it didn't work on my Droid…Just took me to Google. Anyone else?

  • NuclearFluxx

No more “Did you mean” comments. They always made Google look smug anyways. And yes I did mean cunning runts, my kids are always getting into trouble.

  • xFenixKnightx

0:18 He said it should feel like majic. Oh noez! Apple you evil bastards!

  • Dkprnce

Really??? This is what we need? To save time. Considering most searching is just plinking to waste time anyway, GREAT now you can see all the Asian A@@ porn instantly as soon as you type “A”. How much time do we all need to save considering we spend so much time on droid-life

  • EC8CH

Google takes one step closer to reading my mind…

  • Magnious

Do you know what I love most about this? I just watched that video using the flash player installed on my Droid 2! Then hit full screen…on a instant!

  • This is good when I will be using long tail keywords but for shorter keywords I believe I can type faster than their suggestions…
Still I'm sure it's going to be very useful for many Google search engine users.. Nice feature !!! Also it is useful when you making a typo while searching..
What about you? Do you think this feature is going to be handy for you as well?

  • digitalicecream

Hmmm… apparently I'll need to replace the letters “P” and “O” on my keyboard monthly. Oddly, “R” and “N” are now the least utilized keys ever.

    Coming soon: Google “First”.

Automatically posts “First!” as a response to your favorite blog posts, message boards, facebook posts, youtube comments, and more!

  • I first found out when I used Google this morning, before I read about it anywhere. This will definitely by a huge timesaver. Google search was always awesome, but now it's freakin' awesome!

  • Timoh

It's already implemented on desktop site. Pretty cool actually, really fast.

  • Jmiranda3983

  • This is actually really cool. I had to login to get it to work, but I think they are probably still in the process of rolling it out.

Woah! I just went to Google on my desktop and it's already live there! Wow that is just amazing.

  • NickIsAGuest

I wonder if the new Verizon Samsung Fascinate will allow this.

  • Michael_NM

If Google could get Android updates out as fast as search results, I'd really be impressed.

  • Mike

Awesome… as long as we get to keep unlimited data. Otherwise, I can see searches eating up a lot more of the allotment.

  • AnDroidSepTIX

I POPPED OFF all my enter keys cause GOOGLE said I didnt need them.

  • zman

Wow, no need to press enter key…what a huge time saver

    • NickIsAGuest

That's not the point. The point is you see search results while you are typing, and the results change as you type. Did you watch the video?

      • KingTroll

        You do know sarcasm right?

  • garbagedick

    try the mobile version now;
