Release: JRummy’s Froyo Kangerade V1.0

We’ve been waiting for our boy JRummy to finish up his Froyo ROM and the time is finally upon us.  Please say hello to Froyo Kangerade V1.0 in just about any color you could imagine.  He’s actually ported over all of his REMIX themes into this new Froyo build.  It’s as beautiful as everything that he’s done in the past.  Oh, and this might be the fastest ROM I have ever used…and that’s not a joke.

Color choices…

-Blueberry Flavored Froyo (Blue Theme)
-Daiquri Ice Flavored Froyo (Cyan Theme)
-Key Lime Pie Flavored Froyo (Green Theme)
-Pink Lemonade Flavored Froyo (Pink-Life Theme)
-Strawberry Flavored Froyo (Red Theme)
-Plain Froyo (Stock Theme)
-Froyo with Nex-Theme

Instructions…

1.  Open ROM Manager and choose Download ROM and then JRummy.
2.  Choose the Froyo Kangerade V1.0 Customizer.
3.  Follow each screen you are presented with to customize the Froyo ROM.
4.  Once finished, check the box to make a back up if you do not have a current one.
5.  You can skip “wipe data and cache” if coming from another Froyo ROM.
6.  Allow the phone to boot into recovery and work some magic.
7.  Once it finishes, it will boot back up into Kangerade. Enjoy!

For the full support thread, donate link, and installation without ROM Manager, visit this post.

can anyone make a video tutorial for this and post it on youtube.im new to this,i have rooted my phone yesterday and i would like to have this theme but im afraid of trying something on my own because i will probably mess something up 🙁

  • kam

I dont understand how do i install this beautiful screen on my incredible..just got a new one…2.2 running

  • Godfrey2009

Is there just a wallpaper for this? That would be sweet.

  • Theguy6

Im in a bit of a pickle. I downloaded Jrummy's kangerade and was fine for awhile until I rebooted. Now I dont have 3g or root permissions. I see that he has a patch on this in ROM manager, but the problem is, I cant apply that patch without root access. I tried to reboot into recovery to flash a recovery, but recovery is broken and does not show up. Help?

  • Billmagtoto

I love this rom but I'm having a little problem. Whenever I make a folder and put items in the folder they disappear. Is this happening to anyone else?

  • jaydoubledub

I've tried half the voltage/OC's, themes, ad-on's and without… I keep constantly getting FC after setup and on reboot just sticks to animation. And I've been patient, as in waiting for boot, for over an hour even.

    Any help?

Oh, I've also don'e multiple, FULL wipes and factory resets.

    • jaydoubledub

I got it installed!!! yaaaaay!!! Now, I'm just hoping I can install the new maps. That was the original reason I tried to reinstall it. I'm just going to stick with 4.2 of maps for now. I suppose unstil a stable fix for it comes out, I will just do a nandroid and leave it at that.

  • Webbie721

This thread is so long, I can't take the time to find the info. I have loaded the Kang-Blue and when I finish the reboot, i just have a black screen. There is a notification bar, with the clock, reception bars. I can also lock the phone and see the lock screen, but no home screen, just black.

If I hit the menu button, I get nothing. I was coming from Cyan 5.0.7 and did a full wipe.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    James

  • chops61636

Hey, so you mentioned I don't need to wipe if I'm coming from another Froyo ROM… does this include the latest experimental release of Bugless Beast? That's what I'm running, and if I download your ROM with ROM Manager and go without wiping the data/cache, it just reboots to the Moto logo, hangs for a minute, reboots to the Moto logo again, and loads Bugless Beast.

  • jonathaN

I've tried the above instructions to change from cyan to red but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

  • VanessaRenee

Sorry, I am new to this… but can someone tell me how to make a nandroid backup? I am on Jrummy's kangerade cyan p3droid 800. Thanks!

    • Samsonite801

Ok, there are 2 different recovery tools available you can use. One is called SPRecovery and the other one is called ClockworkMod Recovery. I like to do backups using both, so that I have the option to restore using either just in case one utility has trouble, I can use the other. Only one utility can be installed at one time, since it installs over the factory recovery tool. To tell which one you have installed, turn off your phone. Then hold down the X button and push power-on You can let go of the power button, but KEEP HOLDING THE 'X' BUTTON down for another 10 seconds until you see the recovery tool load. It should say somewhere either SPRecovery or ClockworkMod. If it comes to a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it, then that is the stock recovery tool which doesn't do backups.

So now, if you are in ClockworkMod or SPRecovery, look for Backup / Restore and select it. In SPRecovery, I usually always select 'Advanced' Backup since I like to check all the boxes so it does a full backup of everything. But just follow the menus and backup the phone from there. There are options to rename files and everything.

To change from one tool to another the easiest way is to download ROM Manager from the market, and go into that program first page has a menu. The first option is to 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery' which if you select that, it will flash that recovery tool in so that it will be the available tool when you boot with power + X button. This is the tool that ROM Manager primarily uses. Also, if that tool is loaded, the easiest way to do a backup is to scroll down from there in ROM Manager and select Backup Current ROM and it will automatically initiate the reboot sequence, do the X button to load the recovery console for you, and will automatically do the backup and then reboot back into Android OS when done. Those backups are located in the folder /clockworkmod/backups/ folder on your SD-card. So to do a Nandroid backup with SPRecovery, go back to ROM Manager and go to the second bottom option on the menu in there which says ' Flash Alternative Recovery' and this will flash SPRecovery 0.99.3b onto it (which removes the ClockworkMod Recovery Tool). SPRecovery is manual, so you must exit ROM Manager and reboot phone manually and hold down the X button yourself and when it boots to the tool, then select Backup/Restore, etc and do the advanced backup. These backups get stored to a folder called /nandroid/ on your SD-card. I recommend copying these backups you create over to a normal computer and possibly even a 3rd copy onto a flash drive for redundancy. When I'm usually done doing the backup with SPRecovery, I usually go back to ROM Manager and do the 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery' tool back in again so that I can do regular backups right in ROM Manager by selecting 'Backup Current ROM'. I probably only use SPRecovery once in every 10 backups I do in ROM Manager using ClockworkMod since it is more convenient to use that. ClockworkMod is fairly reliable for backup/restore but occasionally once in a blue moon they put out a broken build where restore or backup feature my be busted (they usually fix them within a couple days), but for this reason I like to have an occasional 'Nandroid' backup using the SPRecovery tool JUST IN CASE something happens and I can't get ClockworkMod tool to restore correctly, then I can always flash on the SPRecovery tool again and restore from the /nandroid/ folder.

Hopefully, this post answers all of your questions and helps you to understand how this all works. I know in the beginning it all seems ultra confusing to me and I had wished somebody could've told me what I put here that there are 2 different tools available to perform the same task.

      • VanessaRenee

Thank you, that was very helpful. This may be a dumb question, but how do you restore a backup?

  • Samsonite801

For all of the people out there having issues with installing this ROM, I too had some issues, eventually I figured out that if I first wiped the phone to defaults, then using ROM Manager in JRummy's section, I first loaded his rooted Froyo Stock 2.2 build, then made sure that worked with the stock kernel. Then I set up my gmail account so all my apps would sync. Then after all was good and well, I first went in and deactivated SetCPU so it wouldn't start at boot. Then I booted MANUALLY booted (Power + X button) into ClockworkMod Recovery (only uses ClockworkMod if you flashed in this utility from ROM Manager menu first option), and I selected from there to delete cache only (did not delete data). Then booted back into basic Froyo 2.2 and did the install of Kangerade v1.0 from ROM Manager and did not wipe data or cache from here. The first time I selected Chevy's ULV 1gHz kernel and after install had FCs all the time and in general the system was still not stable at all. So I switched just the kernel over to P3Droid's 125-1000mHz kernel and this runs very stable now. I also still had some occassional FCs while running the ADW Launcher, and so I instead installed LauncherPro (no need to uninstall ADW Launcher, just pick LauncherPro when it asks you which one to use – WARNING: When installing ANY new launcher, make SURE that it runs perfectly stable before you check the box to use it as the default launcher, because in some cases, if the launcher FCs a lot it will never boot and may get stuck in a boot loop). Once you KNOW the launcher runs stable, then you can check that box to use it as default launcher. But LauncherPro Beta (available from the market) runs very fast (I turn all the bars up to full speeds in the settings), and the COOL NEW FEATURE of LauncherPro Beta is it now has a SCROLLing dock on the bottom row which allows you to set up to 15 custom shortcuts. And the new update today just allowed the scrolling feature to go in a continuous circle or loop (not stopping on left end or right end). It is the coolest feature I've seen on a launcher in a long time.

So continuing on, only after you know everything is working at the stock speeds and stable, then set the SetCPU app on and try some custom clock speeds. I originally tried a 1.2 P3Droid kernel and it did work, however, I decided to ultimately replace it with the 1.0gHz kernel for stability, and it definitely runs stable. Once you know it runs stable with SetCPU and higher clock speeds, then set it to boot with SetCPU.

You should also be making regular backups along the way as you go so if you hose it, you can return back to the prior setting without having to spend all day again. Change the names of the backup files so they have the date/time as they do now, but add in some simple phrase to describe the change made so you can easily remember what it was that you had changed along the way. I also periodical before bigger changes, or before the market ever wants to update ROM Manager apk, I will 'Flash Alternative Recovery' tool choosing SPRecovery, and manually reboot with 'Power + X' and do a nandroid advanced backup, and check all boxes in there and do a full backup. Then reboot into Froyo, and go to ROM Manager and Flash the CLockworkMod Recovery tool back in it's place so that it is available for easy backups using ROM Manager's ClockworkMod Recovery tool.

But with this setup, my system is rock solid. By the way, detailed install specs are as follows:

Using, Kangerade Green theme, P3Droid 125-1000mHz kernel set to 125-1000mHz in SetCPU.
In installation I chose, no live wallpapers, above listed kernel, removed Facebook and Twitter, and couple others, leave most everything else as default.

Hope this may work for some others out there who are having problems. Also, just to point out, all apps are working, Maps works (although wont update through market, only can do manual install with local apk in Root Explorer), all other features and functions work as desired. I tend to have better luck using the Skyfire Beta browser as well, since it has a button on the toolbar to switch page rendering from Droid, to Desktop, to iPhone which makes it so you can put it on 'Desktop' mode and it wont force you to go to m.hulu.com or m.cnn.com, it will simply go to hulu.com or cnn.com and show the original page which includes the Adobe Flash Video on it.

Also, after I installed android-tether.apk onto it, wifi tethering worked as desired, and although I didn't have any issues with my wifi not working, somebody on another forum described to update the wifi kernel module ( tiwlan_drv ) to a more current version and this fixed it for several people. I think I might've read that on an official thread for the Froyo P3Droid kernels somewhere.

Anyways, no time to profread this time, so sorry for any errors in grammer. Hope this info helps somebody…

Sorry, I am new to this and don't know where to post.. I just rooted my phone yesterday and installed jrummys kangerade. Today I turned off my phone, and when I turned it back on now most off my apps are gone from my app drawer and gone from the market including rom manager. The market wont let me download anything, and when I go into manage applications it wont ever finish loading and wont let me get into anything!!! Will someone please help, I am freaking out…

  • Joshkorte12

The problem i am having is right now i have chevy's rom installed and when I try install my custom Kangerade blue v1.0 theme it doesn't install on my main launcher and leaves it as chevy's rom. How do i go about fixing this problem and making it the Kangerade Blue Theme. A fast response would be trenmendous

  • Help please!
I installed kanngerade blue them downloadded from the full support thread. Now I wanna switch to the cyan theme but don't wanna do it through rom manager cause manually is a hassle. I tried doing it the other night but when it was being installed the action was aborted. Help me please so everything goes well and everything gets installed properly

  • SecurityNick

Is anyone else having issues with the camera flash after installing this? This is my first time rooting, so don't know if I messed something else up. But I've noticed after putting this ROM on my phone, the camera flash (on the back of the phone) does not work, in automatic or manual. It does work if I put it to video then turn it on manually, but not on camera (and Moto Torch doesn't work either, which is the best flashlight app, actually met the developer face to face once….but I think this problem is related to the initial problem of it not working in the camera mode). Anyone have any suggestions? Side note, I originally downloaded the rom straight from droidforums.net because I was having issues originally downloading from ROM Manager. But this morning, I re-installed from ROM Manager (and that worked), but the light still doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Guys, is the rom manager script broken? It installed perfectly for me, a few days ago, but today, after several attempts on a friend's droid, the scripts didn't seem to do the right thing. He always had a blue theme, never had adw installed, etc… but we kept wiping data and cache.

    Any ideas?

  • rockymtnhigh

Ok, liking jrummy, but I would like the option to use the default launcher from Froyo. Alas, it is gone. Any idea how to get it back, since the kangerade script to switch just goes back and forther between ADW and Launcher 2.

  • ajavgeek

    Hi,
Is there any way I can change the font after I installed the ROM? I selected the Droid font and it is not the best for me, any help?

    Thx

    • Vaden K

Download this http://www.mediafire.com/?x2ymmmnlwmz then install the .apk, when its done go to your app drawer and run it, Kangerade Scripts, go to fonts, select the font you want to try and tap it. After a few seconds it will tell you its install, then you just reboot and your done!

      • rockymtnhigh

Thanks. I just installed jrummy and the droid font is killing me.

  • Dracul

Is anybody else have a problem w/ the google maps w/ JRummy? I have it on my home screen and it works, but in the Market it's saying that it's not installed. I download it and when it goes to install, it says install unsuccessful. is there a fix for this or do i have to try something else? I'm running the red theme 1.1g kernel, I tried flashing the blue theme and still getting the same thing. and my SetCPU is always reading 98.6 degrees. any suggestions?

    • Ohszabo

simple go straight into rommanager and click reboot into recovery and it will work i was having the same issue

  • Jrickman51

anyone having trouble getting the restore nandroid at boot using the power and x button? it stopped working after installing the rom? anyone please i cant restore any of my previous backups, any help will be appreciated, if posting in wrong area my apologies, jeff

    • Locsta

If you named you backups using / then what you did was put all your files in sub-folders. If you named it “backup 6/19/2010”, then the files would be in sub-folder 19, which would be in sub-folder 2010 which would make them in inaccessible. Hook your phone up yo your computer, go into your SD card, find the backup, cut the files from sub-folder “2010”, and paste then in folder “backup 6”,<—example. if this isn't your issue I am sure someone can use this info.

  • Vaden K

I deleted the news and weather genie widget thinking it was broken but it turns out the network was down and is back up. How can I reinstall this? I've downloaded a few from the web but they dont install or they force close. HELP!

Help before I try another rom Nav not working car mode everything else seems to workneed nav back

  • twohawks

I have a major problem. I tried jrummy one more time. I installed Jrummy's Froyo ROM and wiped cache and did a backup. Everything seemed to go well until I shut my phone down and then started up again. Now I can't even get the phone to start correctly… unfortunately I'm in an endless boot loop that I can't get out of. I can't do the typical boot into recovery by starting up holding the x down. Anyone have suggestions???

    • Kennp102

If you have Motorola Drivers and RSD light reinstall Go to unroot 2.1 good video

  • Jai Taigas

i seem to be having wifi issues with this latest rom. It keeps connecting then dropping and repeating the process over and over. dunno why.

    • rals

  • Patschenck4vzw

do i have to in froyo to use this rom

  • Patschenck4vzw

im in bb,,(pete rocks) and i want to try out this rom,, buit do i have to have froyo to use this ??????

  • ac35

does anybody know the name of the font in the nex theme version of this?

  • Haven't rooted my Droid yet, going to try it this afternoon and was going to use one of the remix roms but now found this.

Can I use the procedure described here (using SPRecovery) but simply use the Kangerade zip file?
    http://www.droid-life.com/2010/04/14/video-inst

Also, can anybody point me to a way to backup everything I will want to bring over to the new rom, and then how to restore it (I am thinking in particular key ring bar-codes, contacts, etc)? Reading around I guess a nandroid backup and titanium for app data, but havn't found a clear explanation.

I'm pretty stoked to dive into this, but am totally new to the whole thing.

    • Ksmckay

if you have sprecovery then you should just root first, get ROM manager and that makes a lot of the ROM flashing a no brainer.

On the JRummy Rom support page there are directions using SPRecovery.

Your contacts should be backed up to your google acount so you dont need to worry about them. Not sure on app data stuff but I would think if you made a backup and backed everything up if you screw up and lose the info you can always go back.

  • ac35

hey guys, hopefully somebody here can help me… i dowloaded jrummy kangerade and now my news/weather app and widget wont work. it just keeps saying “sorry, unable to connect. please try again later,” with a button that says 'retry now'. it tries loading every few seconds but then goes back to this message. maybe somebody here knows what i did wrong or what i can do to fix?

    • Vaden K

I think its trashed. Mine worked when I first installed, then I deleted the widget from the desktop and when I readded it this morning, it did the same thing. Havent got it to work all day. Going to try again now that I'm on WiFi at home. Funny thing is, the GPS didnt work when I first installed but works fine today and perfect in the car dock!

      Color me (blueberry) stumped.

  • I’m trying to set up the news topics on the News and Weather app/widget, but there’s an error when I try to refresh it. Anybody know why?

My wifi is working but doesnt seem very reliable. I feel like a lot of people have had this problem but I havent seen a fix. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Fgissubel

seriously, how can no one else have this news and weather problem? I tried installing two different roms.

    • jhietter

I've installed a couple of times and still have the problem. Won't connect. I can't find reference to the problem on jrummy's thread either. May have to go back to BB

      • jhietter

Found it! I spent my night & this morning wiping & changing ROMs and kernels, only to find that the news & weather wouldn't work on ANYTHING.
So a co-worker finds out last night that Palmary, the news provider, is still fighting a DDoS attack. If the phone already has your location, your fine. If not, you won't get it work. HA! It's causing mayhem all over the Droid community.

This might be a good article Kellex….

  • Vaden K

I've used it for a day and it is fast with SetCPU. I changed the ADW to regular scrolling instead of ifone crap sidescroll. The sound is not muffled for me at all in Pandora or the Music player. Its extremely beautiful too! The only thing that doesnt work for me (besides appInstaller) is the GPS. Has anyone been able to get this fixed and if so HOW?? This is a deal breaker for me sadly, I'll be going back to a 2.1 by the weekend unless I can get the GPS to work.

    • Chris Nimon

I never lost maps but i did lose navigation. I flashed chaos clean black and got it back then flashed this and I still have maps and navi. i have evrything working except I still cant send email from my Imail (school) account.
I dont know how but it seemed to work for me.

  • brando56894

Wow this thing is ridiculously fast, I just updated to BBv0.2 and that was fast, but from what I can tell so far (only had it for a few minutes so far) but it seems to be pretty damn fast!

  • jonathaN

Did the wipe data and cache by accident now stuck on the blue droid screen. Can someone help me please? Thanks in advance.

    • Thegoldendroid

I did a battery pull…sprecovery restore…went to a my backuped BB wiped data and now Im safe again… I really wanted that ROM but it hasnt been a good experience…its eaten up my entire off day

  • afrank_86

The new Rummy Froyo is bad ass and super fast. I have been having problems with all of the froyos though. they keep restarting my phone every once in a while. One time it did it with in 5 min of eachother and the next was like 2 hours later and so on. Has anyone been having the same problem or know how to fix?

  • EricPitt01

It looked OK…I didn't like the side-scrolling app drawer. It was also considerably slower than BB. I flashed back to Bugless, but I may try it again later. Any suggestions on how to speed it up?

    • Ksmckay

You can change the app drawer settings easily by going to ADW settings by pressing menu key on home screen. And it definitely is not slower than BB. Perhaps you dont have setCPU and didnt change the speeds? BB defaults to 800 MHz while JRummy defaults to 600 I believe even if you have a faster kernel. You have to change it to whatever you want.

      • EricPitt01

ahh, i see. I got rid of setCPU and task killer with BB. I'll give it a shot later tonight.

        • jawa5636

Maybe my problem as well. I went with the 800 mhz kernal but left SetCPU out of the mix due to my being used to BB handling the OC'ing for you.

    • EricPitt01

also im talking about the Froyo BB.

      • Thegoldendroid

Thats the launcher you're using… swtich to launcherpro and it'll go back to the vertical scrolling apps

  • I was wondering can someone map out the steps to go from stock 2.1 to this?

  • Ksmckay

    Two questions.

Does this come with more launchers or do we have to install them. I thought it came with the helix launchers but I cant figure out how to switch.

Also, has anyone had any issues with the screen previews. I have tried switching the different options in the ADW settings but it tends to jump right to the preview screen. I want it to only go to the preview screen when I hit the home button and I am already home. I have tried messing with the home button binding option but that hasnt fixed it.

    Anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks

  • e3pin0

So I finally got this to download from Rom Manager and I decided to switch back to Cyanogen 5.0.7.1 but when I try to flash my backup rom using Rom Manager it just simply reboots. Any ideas?

    • geekabilly

Have you tried to reboot into recovery? Probably can not do it. There seems to be a rash of broken CM Recovery going around — I had to uninstall & reinstall ROM manager to get it back. Then you should be able to restore a nandroid backup.

      • e3pin0

can't reboot into recovery…I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling ROM manager.

        • e3pin0

          that worked…back to Cyanogen 5.0.7.1..maybe I'll try BB v0.2

  • jawa5636

I might have played with this a bit longer if the oversaturation of color didn't drive me back to BB V1.1. A nice neutral “smoked glass esqu” theme would have been a nice option.

Plus this was my first time playing with Flash and was not all that impressed with how much slower the browser (stock) was.

  • Fgissubel

having problems with news and weather, keeps saying there is a network error. Please help great otherwise

    • Ksmckay

I just trashed it and reloaded it and it worked fine.

still messed up.. what do yo mean trashed it? I dragged it to the trash and reopened it. still broke

I haven't changed ROMs in a while since I have been really happy with how my phone was running for quite a while. I've forgotten the necessary steps to do this.
May I have a hand please?

  • DiGz76

I tried loading this a few times and I get a download error every time. I saw a lot of other people are getting that too. I saw somewhere someone suggested clearing your download cache in rom manager but that didn't work. Does anyone else have an idea?

    • geekabilly

Same issue with me — it's a ClockworkMod Recovery problem — try to reboot into recovery and see what happens — I would just hang on the M and then it would do a normal reboot without ever entering recovery — you may be able to fix it by flashing SPrecovery, then back to CWM, then SPR, then CWM, but that didn't do it for me, so I had to uninstall then reinstall ROM Manager to get recovery back — now, it's all good, recovery has been recovered…!

      • DiGz76

I tried to download it later last night when I got home from work and it worked fine. Didn't need to flash SPRecovery or anything. Thanks for the advice though.

  • rals

Anyone's news and weather widget not working?

  • Mark Powell

Successfully loaded v1.0 market does not show any of my non paid apps (over 100). Titanium backup loads to 37% then stops. anyone running into these problems?

    • Thegoldendroid

same problem and its killing me

  • J Dub

Will you need to use SetCPU with this or is it like Pete's where the ROM handles the CPU on demand? I like not having to have a task killer, setcpu, and all that other garbage.

  • Klw5688

got a 1487 on quadrant with this rom and the 1.25ghz p3 kernel. no doubt it is super fast. On top of that ive seen a difference in battery life throughout normal usage, the rom is beautiful, and it comes with some goodies.

Whys everybody hatin on the dancin banana… i picked it as soon as i seen it…oh well maybe im a nerd.

anyways on to what i cant figure out. I'd never used handsent b4 yesterday and i played with it for like 5 minutes b4 i decided i would never use the stock message app again…but it force closes like every few minutes… any ideas on a fix for that? and the wifi tethering….please someone help i might start having withdrawls from it…T_T

oh and the maps/nav/market all worked flawlessly for me since first boot. and let it be noted that all three are blazing fast now. sry for the long post. thx for everything guys.

  • rooted droid ftw

the rom is awesome, but after i ran titanium backup it switched over to my old background and now i can only use the stock live wallpapers. i tried changing it through terminal emulator, but it says “goodies folder not found on the root of your sd card” any ideas what happened? thanks

    • ryanwalter

i have the same problem, i got pink-life but dont have the sexy background (i had been using the green one from flikie before) and would really like the pink android-icon background. also, is it just me or does “pink-eye” launcher look very purple? but whatever. any help would be great. i dont have terminator emulator or whatever it was Aaronhilo mentioned though. thanks. DROID LIFE RULES!

  • guest

Any way to get the black background back on MMS?

  • Aaronhilo

i downloaded the rom with rom manager and im currently running bugless beast v1.1, but it didn't do anything after it downloaded. When i try to download it again it says download error. any ideas? thanks

    • Aaronhilo

sorry im retarted i got it working…

  • Ziv

Guys, so what's the verdict on these:

Is the GPS / NAV working?
    Is the sound muffled?
    Is Exchange / ActiveSync working?

If something goes wrong, can we get into clockwork recovery to restore a 2.1 backup?
Do we need to first flash SPRecovery, or can we stick with ClockWork Recovery?

    Thx.

    • Chris Nimon

my gps/nav is working. my aol and gmail are working.

      • Flyinion

Arg now I see this. I ended up holding off tonight after reading multiple reports of nav, gmail, etc. issues. Eh maybe I'll find time at lunch tomorrow. Will suck to download over 3G vs. wifi though.

        • Vaden K

My GPS is a no go 🙁 I had to switch to network location which sucks big time and I cant use navigation which was 40% of why I purchased a Droid. Im running Blueberry Kangerade with an 800Mhz kernal and all other options as “No Thank You”. WiFi works great though.

  • Nicksmith573

ok i just rooted a couple of days ago. Can someone please explain to me what the kernals are how do i know which one to pick???? So lost.

    • Chris Nimon

kernels are what gives your phone its speed. its like the motor. overclocking is like suping up your engine. everybody uses setpcu to control their kernel. its like the computer that controls your motor. you can set the lower and upper performance levels with this. you use 2.1 kernels if your still on 2.1 and 2.2/froyo kernels if your on the new froyo. To use custom roms/themes/kernels you want to get RomManager(paid version) and setcpu from the android market. im probably forgetting something so , someone feel free to jump in.

      • Nicksmith573

thanks guys that was very helpful. im goin from 2.1 to jrummys new fryo theme what do u guys recomend

        • Nicksmith573

oh yea rom manager is giving me a download error everytime i try to download this rom. any solution

    • Tom

      Chris gave an OK explanation…

Here is a more detailed explanation:

First you need to remember and understand that Android is a Linux/Unix based operating system. An operating system Kernal is the connection between the operating system and the hardware. It is what allows the system to work. Without the kernal the operating system cannot work. So by changing the kernal you can give your device different abilities, because you are telling the hardware that it is a 1000mhz processor or what not. The hardware has no software, and the kernal is basically the software. Which is why it is dangerous to change it.

You want to choose a kernal that would be as least detremental to your device as possible. Some kernals just don't agree. So be careful. P3, and Bekit seem to be safe bets. For Froyo go for P3…. Good luck.

I somehow totally hosed my phone with this ROM. I've had 20 minute boot ups, random restarts, boot loops, all kinds of weird stuff. I installed this the same way I've installed all the other ROMs I've played with over the last few months (none of which gave me the problems this ROM has). I'm willing to guess I messed this one up but I used ROM Manager and ClockworkMod the way I always have. I even cleared cache, etc. My phone does not like JRummy. 🙁

    • twohawks

I just went back to BB .02 my phone is happy again. /sigh I was really hoping to install this ROM. Now I'm afraid to try it again.

      • Thegoldendroid

Im back to BB too.. its safe and clean and I guess thats all Im entitled to at this time..I would've loved to have a nice sleek ROM, but apparently its not in the cards.. Ive been at it all morning and everytime I download it its all buggy and such.. Might try one more time..

    • Thegoldendroid

Im int he same boat as you man. cosmetically this is a great ROM.. hell its fast too, but I need something more stable cause the stress of not knowing if your phone is coming back on is too much!

  • mrl09

anyone get the IM to work? i keep getting FC

  • mack

is there a list of what the fonts look like?

    • Chris Nimon

i wish. im trying to download them all 1 at a time so i can see what they are.

  • Am I the only one who finds all these Froyo roms as horribly slow compared to the 2.1? I keep seeing ppl posting how its the fastest rom they ever had but all i get with froyo is choppy and slow.

    • Tom

You sir need to let it finish syncing… Seriously… Do a data wipe, let it sync, and it IS faster. I thought the same at first, until I saw the light. Literally every test I run, from the Lag test to the Linpack to the Quadrant is 2-5 times faster than 2.1 was. Froyo is no joke man.

    • jahpickney

use a different launcher like launcherpro and overclock a lil…I had the same problem, froyo stock launchers seem to be choppy

    • Thegoldendroid

well they were right when they said they get faster as time goes on but most of em only have 800mhz so its not as fast as some of the ones u may be used too

  • Chris Nimon

picked the Droid letters this time.

:/ mis click. im still having trouble getting flash player to work properly. just installed this rom. i have not had flash since the second update was posted on here.

      • Thegoldendroid

hey wat are u using flash player for? I installe dit last week but havent found much use for it..is it supposed to show up in my apps?

  • peter

This rom will not install on my droid in clockwork i installed without rom manager and in the middle of the instalation it stops and returns to the main menu and when i use rom manager i get the error from the server crashing im guesing but i still can't install manually i also tried with SPrecovery and didnt work i just did Bugless Beast 0.2 and i love it!!! Im going to try this rom tommarow hopefully it will work then:)
    Any tips???

  • jahpickney

does this rom support apps2sd? I just downloaded an app from the market and used titanium to move it to sd card. When I checked my internal space, it was still displayed as if the app was still installed on the internal but the system says the app is on the sd.

    • Tom

      Yes, it does.

      • jahpickney

can u confirm if you install a new app from the market and transfer it to sd that the space will free up on your internal memory?

        • Tom

Considering that I have 100+ apps? Yes I'd say that is confirmed. 🙂 Not possible for me to do such things if Apps2SD didn't work. 🙂

          • jahpickney

All the apps that I had on my SD card before I flashed over to this rom remained on SD. But it seems for me that when I install a new app, it doesn't go over to the sd card. It says it does, even in the app list in settings, but doesn't go over as I see an decrease in the internal storage. When I uninstall the app the internal storage increases back to where it was. I just want someone to confirm if this is the rom or my phone.

          • Tom

Are you coming from a 2.1 or 2.2?

          • jahpickney

            2.2 bb 0.1

          • Tom

BB 0.1 was broken… You should wipe again… I did that when going to onix, worked like a charm

  • Okay, i added the blueberry theme and my wifi was working horrible at best. i tried to update the baseband and now my droid wont read the memory card (says blank sd card) nor will it format or go into recovery. Someone PLEASE help. i figured i would try to go back to the rooted 2.1 and start over. How do i go about that without using my phones sdcard ?

    • Tom

      1) Did you create a back-up before taking the jump?

      2) If coming from 2.1, did you make sure to do a Data Wipe and Cache?

Please let us know since they are both important.

      • Created a backup and did the data wipe and cache. I took my memory card to my desktop, formated it that way, flashed recovery, downloaded a 2.1 bb rom (since my memory card and all contents were deleted) and got it back to a stable 2.1. Im currently dL'n another froyo rom and ill lyk how that goes.

        • Got the Jrummy blueberry theme up and running, but wifi still works like a pos. keeps connecting/disconnecting at a fast rate. Sometimes up to once every ten seconds. Dont know how to fix that one, any help guys?

          • Tom

wipe data, then wipe the card. Should solve your problems when starting fresh. Good luck.

          • Thegoldendroid

wipe the card? my sd card? surely u cant mean Im supposed to lose all my music for this… I must be confused..

          • Tom

Here is what you do…. Back up your SD card…. I did this with a microSD adapter, and copied it. Then I put it back in my phone booted into recovery and formatted through that…. Then I wiped data and cache and installed the newest ROM, which at the time was onix. Then I mounted and copied my SD card back-up. And everything was kosher.

          • Thegoldendroid

you're lucky.. at least u got it up and running. Im trapped in some sort of ROM purgatory!

  • jaywatson

can anyone confirm that the maps and nav are non-functional on J's ROM'S??????? Also curious if email is having issues as well??

    • Chris Nimon

      mine works

  • okland2772012

just got a benchmark resjult of 1617 with petes new bugless beast..fastest thing I've ever ran

    • root4life

how is it. could u post some pics

    • Tom

I'm showing from my Quadrant, and Linpack tests (run 10 times each) And running them 2 times each under different conditions… 1st time was with fresh boot, nothing ended, 2nd time was using an app killer to end unnecessary apps. JRummy seemed to be faster both times, even just marginally…

  • Guest

i think we crashed the servers again…lol

    • Guest

if you dont chose a lwp everything downloads ok

      • Chris Nimon

I noticed that too. I also keep getting the banana dance instead of stock froyo. anybody know anything about that?

A word of caution…don't select the HelixLauncher2 as the default launcher. I did this and got stuck in a force close loop that I couldn't get out of. I've read on other forums that this launcher is not very friendly with Froyo.

  • Karnage9

so now that JRummy has the mirrors set up I can d/l the rom. but when I go thru all the set up options and try to install it thru Rom Manager, my Onix 1.2.0 w/ drop theme just keeps coming back… any Ideas??

I just went from BB V 1.1 to this mod and my phone keeps freezing up and then shutting off any thing I try to open up it for example the market place and it just sits there and then shuts off. I wiped data and cache before install. Does anyone have any ideas as to why or how to fix?

  • Tom

Jrummy does it again. I am a believer. Just… though this is a weird questions…HOW DO YOU ALLOW ADS???

    • nkhex19

Go in Terminal Emulator and then type su then hit enter, then type showads then hit enter. This should work.

      • Tom

JRummy beat you to it. Thanks though

  • Chris619a

Can I root the droid on a macbook pro?

  • scorpion77

Do any of the new Roms have the Old IM like in Cyanogen Mod use to have .. i like being able to change the Led color an being able to send mp3 etc in the text ..

  • ohiobuckeye7

Running the green them at 1ghz and I have to say I'm quite impressed! For those having a problem installing using Rom Manager, I highly suggest you use SPR Recovery. Works so much better.

    • Thegoldendroid

How do u do it using sprecovery? and please talk to me like Im stupid cause im obviously not as good at this as I thought!

      • ohiobuckeye7

If you are using Rom Manager, be sure to flash into SPR Recovery. Copy the rom from your desktop to you phone's SD card. Be sure to name the file update.zip. Power off your phone. Hold the “X” key and power button at the same time. Keep them pressed until SPR Recovery boots.. Go to “Install”. Then select “Allow update.zip installation.”, Then go to “Install update.zip”. Once done, reboot and bam! You should have the rom installed. Personally, Clockwork may be easier, however, I always seem to have problems with it

  • CORY

Hey guys, have had my Droid for 5 months & I know every1 is gonna hate me & I have been DYING to do it…..I am not rooted…..I started having problems with 3g & signal 4 days ago…the only solution the geniuses @ Verizon could give was 2 send me a replacement Droid….my questions for u guys is, being that I have 2 send this Droid back, I would love to try to root this 1 as practice BC I am finally making the official jump 2 rooting when get my replacement, IS THIS GOING TO AFFECT ANYTHING IF I BRICK THE PHONE BY MESSING UP THE ROOT/WILL VERIZON MESS WITH ME EVEN THOUGH GOT REPLACEMENT ALREADY??? sorry for the length of post, but been reading this site with envy for 2months now, so figured a new post with a froyo build would b a good place to post this….thank u in advance for any help

    • Djrachelamaya08

This is a great theme and rom I tried a bunch bugless beast is good too but not as much customization I highly recommend this rom.

    • Thegoldendroid

No… go with bugless beast.. tis alot safer and more stable for a newbie.. alot of the pros are having problems with this ROM cause the server crashed.. start off with bugless beats and when this one is stable u can switch!

  • adam

everytime i download one of these roms from rom manager it says download error…can someone please try to help me on what i might be doing wrong?

    • Djrachelamaya08

Rom manager was doing that for a while with mine just keep trying I just got it done like 30 minutes ago.

  • Locsta

what are the kernels for? which one do i choose?

    -froyo 2.2 bugless beast v0.1

    • nkhex19

Kernels are for overclocking. Select whichever one will work for your liking. The higher the ghz the faster you can overclock. I am running ChevyNo1 low voltage 1ghz Kernel and its working great.

  • Kraymanbauer

Ka!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love it! Tough to decide which days to runn bb and which to roll rummy! Toooooo many options!

  • Mwalls3

Hoping someone can shed some light onto roms/themes/kernels for me. I have my driod rooted and have froyo up and running just fine, do roms like this include ocing kernels or do i need to do that first? also does installing tis rom include adding flash or do i need to do that seperately as well – Thanks – pics look sick, cant wait to try it.

  • AK

this might be a stupid question…i just installed this rom and its awesome…but since i've rooted my droid about 2 months ago i've always wondered how to use the “scripts” that each rom has (for example: http://www.bucketcheck.com/jrummy/Rummy%20Roms/…).

can someone please explain it to me?

    • Locsta

download 'terminal emulator'. when you open it type in 'su' so you have super user status.

      • AK

ahh got it…i figured i needed terminal emulator just never typed in 'su'…thanks a lot

  • Kraymanbauer

Ka!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love it! Tough to decide which days to runn bb and which to roll rummy! Toooooo many optikons!

  • Jeff Sauvageau

Stupid question. What kernel do I want. Running stock 2.1 with root access on my Droid. Thanks!

  • timarnette

    Hey Guys,

For some reason my phone went back to 2.1. Is there a way I can get 2.2 from Rom Manager or do I have to root my phone again? I have no idea how this happen. Thanks a lot.

    • nkhex19

In Rom Manager under stock images there is a 2.2 build you can download. Probably a good idea to wipe data and cache when coming to 2.2

      • timarnette

Thanks a lot. I am installing it now. Thanks a lot. You are a life saver!!!

  • jahpickney

BB 0.1 gave better quadrant scores but JR makes everything work ie google voice automatically syncs and pushes without manual refresh. Good job. What kernel is everyone using, I'm using the chevy ulow voltage 1.1

  • Kingdugar

every time i try to download the rom it says ROM DOWNLOAD ERROR……..someone please help

    • nkhex19

Sounds like a server error. Try again in a few. Or try clearing your download cache in rom manager and try again.

      • Kingdugar

ok thanks another quick question, how exactly do i clear my downlaod cache lol. I know this might be second nature to you but i am not yet a jedi knight of the rooting academy. Shine your light on me

        • nkhex19

Lol, go into Rom Manager, then hit the soft menu button on your Droid then you will see the option to clear download cache. Hope this helps.

  • Stevenege

And BTW everyone having problems with ROM Manager now, it seems that the problem is the live wallpapers ONLY now…. try not installing any of those and it should work. That was the problem for me…. guess I will wait for some LWP's 🙂

  • Stevenege

Ok, so does this ROM not support Apps2SD either, cause only having 78MB left to work with will get annoying after a while. First time on this ROM, but was hoping for A2SD. Any help or knowledge of the Rom would help me out on this one.

  • trumpet444

anyone else having download errors from rom manager? It'll download the themed rom and then when it starts to d'load the extras an error pops up

    • bluengreendad

clear your download cache in Rom Manager and you should be able to get through. You're downloading via wi-fi right?

  • locke2384

Hey all, off topic question but I figured this was the right place for it. I can't find any info anywhere else. Is it possible to root a droid eris, my sisters phone is just slow and laggy after the recent 2.1 update. Wanted to see if I could hook it up.

    • nkhex19

I think I remember seeing some videos on youtube to root an Eris. May want to check that out.

    • nkhex19

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_brg2NbBmx8

Check out this video, there are others too but this one looks pretty helpful. I don't know much of anything about rooting an Eris so hopefully this will give you the help you need.

  • Ksmckay

Seems a lot slower than BB. I am running the 800 MHz kernel and my quadrant score is around 850 compared to 1100 when running the BB which is also clocked at 800…

What makes this the fastest ROM you have ever used? Or am I dont something wrong or making a poor comparison?

    • t0ni

I got an 1146 at 800mhz w JRummy! Lovin it.

  • Damn!!!! Pete just tweeted that he's uploading BB v0.2 right now!!! This is too much for one day!!!! Dude I'm backing up both Roms and rocking a new different one each day!

  • Obiwancanola

Still no maps or nav in this one.

    • Flyinion

Grrrr did not want to hear that. No maps/nav is a dealbreaker for me on installing Froyo ROMs. Guess I won't be installing tonight after all.

      • Chris Nimon

i had maps and navi with the droidlife froyo rom. lost navi when i tried chaos black ice, then got it back when i tried chaos clean black. I had it with Jrummy and now with jsinlegacy.

  • rals

I downloaded the rom and I get the boot animation and now can't get into the rom I get a blank screen with task bar only.

    • Chris Nimon

let it roll, mine has taken like 15 minutes everytime i flash this rom.(im trying several and keep going back to this one)

  • Mark

Hey this is a bit of a Noob question but i have 2.2 installed and it came with a Kernal to over clock to 800mhz. So if i go to Rjummys how do i install a kernal to overclock? Thanks everyone

    • when you go thru the rom manager, you'll get the option to select the kernel you want.

  • Rom Manager is still screwed up.

  • Kingdugar

How do you download this rom manually when it always aborts(lol) by downloading and going into recovery itself.

  • usmitcboy

Does this have the wifi tethering built-in?

    • samsonite801

Yes, android-tether.apk installs fine and works with stock kernel or I've tried it with a P3Droid kernel (may work with others as well).

  • ohiobuckeye7

    Just download and installed. Ssssaaaawwweeeeettttt!!!!!

  • Are you having troubles sending out emails using gmail from this new ROM? :-/
    Just keeps saying “sending”…..grrr!

    • nkhex19

I had this happen to me but I was using a different ROM when it happened to me. It was stuck saying sending. Turns out I was in a really bad 3g service area and as soon as I got in an area with better reception it ended up finally sending. Don't know if this is the same issue your having.

  • Anypne else having issues forwarding emails? They are forward in plain text

  • r

I cleared the dl cash and then went back got the dl to start got the theme and then it was an error for the other 16 itrems left to download. Any one gotten this far and then error??…

    • schmaltzy

I am too. I don't wanna just download the main ROM, I'd like the rest of the stuff that goes with for options! I posted the problem on the main board….will let you know if I hear anything.

  • Paul E

Ok I can't be the only one having this problem… it won't let me boot into recovery.. the M comes up.. sits there.. and then it turns off… then the M comes up… droid eye.. and then back to my current ROM. I've flashed 1.8.1.8 for CM and 0.99p3 or whatever for spr… not sure what the problem is. Any ideas?

    • nkhex19

I wonder why that didn't work. Go back into Rom Manager again, flash alternate recovery (sprecovery) then flash back to the latest clockworkmod recovery. That worked for me. I do this everytime now before I flash a rom and so forth just to be safe.

      • Paul E

        Thanks I'll try that.

        • vonbane

I opened ROM manager, and at the bottom chose to install a different version of Recovery. That seemed to fix the problem for me.

          • Paul E.

Yeah.. that seemed to install the base ROM just fine, but not the kernel and such I selected. I wonder if I should go back and redo it through ROM manager instead of recovery. Hmmm.

      • Paul E.

That worked, although I guess I have to flash the 1.0 kernel and the other stuff separately? My kernel is still saying 800 mhz max. Hmmm.

        • nkhex19

Sounds like you have the stock kernel which only goes up to 800mhz. Did you download Kangerade through Rom Manager? That allows you to choose different kernels in JRummy's section. You have the option to download either P3DROID or ChevyNo1 kernels.

          • Paul E.

I did, but because of the reboot problem I mentioned above, I installed it through recovery instead of going through ROM manager. I wonder if I re-download it through ROM with options and try again…

    • AK

this happened to my rom manager last week as well when trying to go from the leaked froyo to new bugless beast 0.1 – i uninstalled both the free and the paid rom manager and then reinstalled them…has worked fine since then

  • ROM manager si also down…

  • schmaltzy

IT'S BACK UP AND RUNNING!!!!! Everyone can chill now!

  • K Beck45

server is up and running again..

  • ktsken

Hope this is not a repost… The main server is down… JRummy posted a link to a mirror site – see #180 on this page to download a zip.

    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/jrummy/51568-6

  • Kellex, what did you select for options???

  • me

no offense, but NexFro v 1.0.1 is better. 🙂

  • Josef Ferguson

I think I might be stuck in a reboot loop with this thing. It gives me the “preparing SD card” message in my notification bar for a second or two, then reboots. Any thoughts on how to undo this?

    • Josef Ferguson

I could really use some help here. Definitely stuck in some kind of loop. I get M logo, boot animation, home screen, “preparing SD card”. phone reboots. Over and over again.

      • Did you wipe the data and cache when installing?

        • Josef Ferguson

          Yes.

          • Josef Ferguson

Just restored to my back-up. Oh well, guess this one wasn't quite ready for prime time.

          • Josef Ferguson

Tried it again. Same result. Although I did have time to establish that my wifi wasn't working. Glad others are having more luck with this, but in my opinion it's buggy as hell.

          • Chris Nimon

mine did that. pulled the battery, rebooted and let it run for quite awhile then it popped up.

  • JRummy16

Ok rom manager should work now. just posted the mirrors

    • Woo hoo! Thanks!

    • LRiley

can you post the seperate wallpapers, red especially??

  • jrummy16

    here are some mirrors: http://www.froyoroms.com/files/developers/jrumm

give me a couple minutes to update rom manager w/ them

    • DexDroid

every1 is going to give u a few secs and then………….click click click click click click click :-p

  • Chris Nimon

aww man, I went to reboot my phone and now im having bootloops for breakfast. luckily i DL'd and saved this last night. hello sprecovery, how you doin.

  • JRummy16

holy gina kellex.. you post a little article and my thread explodes.. Now my server is down w/ too many people trying to download.. I will try and upload some mirrors right now.

    • Steven

Awesome….. can't wait to try it out. Sorry for us crashing your servers 🙂

    • Ya sorry to have crashed you. Your stuff is just tooooo good not to download!

    • Chris Nimon

feels good to have everybody wanting your goods though dont it 🙂

      • i get that all the time, different circumstances however. LOL!

    • memnoch73

Thanks for checking in and giving us the info. Looking forward to the new build….

    • K Beck45

thank you for all your hard work and thanks for getting the new build up again for us to play with your the man love your roms…

    • Klw5688

Just want to say thanks for all the roms you have given us. I pretty much only use yours now…lol.

Can anybody point me to how to get wifi tethering for my new strawberry droid?

    • Anybody elses Gmail broken after flashing this??? lol

      • Chris Nimon

shite, didnt show as sending but about 3 minutes later i did get my gmail and aol test mail. still havent got my yahoo or imail tests yet

      • Kazzmyre

Yeah, I actually cant sync to gmail anymore. In ACCOUNTS under SETTINGS there isn't even a gmail setting.

    • lschicky

hahahaha ooops! I guess I'll wait a few days. Cool looking stuff though!

    • PyroHoltz

Thanks for the quick support and the awesome release of your Froyo custom ROM. Keep up the great work.

    • PyroHoltz

Curious, what is the best method to upgrading to the newest baseband with this ROM?

Does anyone know if the newer basebands actually improve anything?

    • Thegoldendroid

Jrummy , first all I looooooove this ROM…but I think I got a little ahead of myself and now Im having some problems..(anyone feel free to jump in).. I tried Red Kangerade, but forgot to back up my apps so I did a restore to get them.. When I tried going back to Red Kangerade its saying download error and wont let me download any of the roms.. my clockwordmod recovery is also not the latest model( its saying im using 1.8.1.8, but the premium version is v1.8.8.8 and im sure this is important. its also black where is lists current Rom..My about phone is saying im in Froyo Kangerade but it doesnt look like it.. either way any suggestions? OH and thanks to all the people who answer my panicked, hysterical posts on here…They always help!

      • Robt979

that happened to me and i had to do a complete restore. It takes a little messing around in the clockwork recovery and you will most likely loose all of your apps but mine has worked fine ever since

    • duckphan

JRummy Rom's kick some serious A$$. Thanks man!

  • ROM download error

    • Dex-Droid

      I have the same error

  • Bwassink

Hmm downloaded and was using for a little over an hour before it started to just reboot constantly. I used the Cyan theme the 1200 ps3 kernal and only changed the boot animation besides that. Anyone have any ideas as to why? Currently rolling back to the backup I did just before installing but I really liked it for the hour or so I got to play with it so I'm probably going to try this again.

  • ok yeah, i keep getting “ROM download error”. Also, does anyone know what “Desire mount USB” is?

  • Tkimball00

i cant get past (M) and have to pull my battery whats going on??

  • Download Error!!!!

  • droidster!

why does it keep saying download error??
    somebody help me!

  • Steven

Well it seems as though the server is down right now to download through the net or through ROM Manager…. that sucks.

  • K Beck45

still down i want to try out his rom he is great at it but all links are down

  • Amazing!!!!!!

  • Chris Nimon

Because we follow Kellex like our own little cult he seems to crash at least 1 server a week. Anybody else notice that. Kellex, youve just gotton too popular.

  • Chet

download errors when trying through rom manager

  • I keep getting download errors everytime I try to download this.

  • K Beck45kbeck

all links are down even through rom manager

  • Thegoldendroid

Onee more question setcpu is saying I dont have root access and asking is root access allowed in read only mode… anyone know what this means?

    • Chris Nimon

I got the same thing after i went back and dL'd the goodies. luckily i backed up before that so i just restored to jrummy blue

  • Paul E.

Ok, I cleared my notifications and the 1 of 12 has disappeared… it's still downloading, right? Can I confirm that somehow?

  • LVGDroidFan

I downloaded this last night and it is extremely fast – quadrant scores over 1400 with the Chevy 1.0 ULV – Faster than any other ROM I've tried before.

  • FunkyMonkey88

    No orange? ;-(

  • Thegoldendroid

small problem..My setcpu max is now capped off at 600 mhz.. I really thought I picked a faster kernel.. is there anyway to just bump up to a better kernel for more overclock?

    • Flyinion

Go back through the configuration thing in ROM Manager, tell it “no thanks” for everything except the kernel selection. It will just install the new kernel.

  • schmaltzy

I keep getting a download error! I am trying to get the green theme. Any idea?

    • didn't mean to click like, and i'm having the same issue!

    • memnoch73

Everybody just calm down… All of us maniacs seem to have crashed the server. Let's all go make a sandwich and check back later…

      • memnoch73

Sandwich and beer was good. Downloading now…

    • PyroHoltz

      Read this on http://www.DroidForums.com:

      jrummy16:

      “Ok, here are some mirrors:

      http://www.froyoroms.com/files/developers/jrumm

give me 10 min and I will update rom manager to have the mirrors”

    • Croan09

mine took forever 6 mins i think on dsl and when i flashed it said 2nd line was bad so it wouldnt work on installing it blue

  • redbar0n11

Anyone run into an issue installing this with RM or anything? I tried with RM, and also in Clockwork, and it gave me an error: cant read… etc and then said (bad). This is the very first time running into this, and I'm not sure why? I'm not doing the update.zip method thru SPR where it needs to be in a certain spot, so idk if maybe it just didnt download right, or if that means something else, or what? 🙁

  • kulz

idk why but i've tried to flash this rom 4 times!!!! no result…wtf am i doing wrong~?!~?!~?? >:O
i mean, nothing changes. i still have my old (if you can call it that) froyo

  • DCDroid

Thanks alot droid-life, your announcement crashed his server. Now i may have to wait until tomorrow for my new rom. I'm not that mad, actually, i kind-of am.

  • PyroHoltz

So, I'm getting a 'Download Error' in ROM manager, after going through all the steps for JRummy…anyone else having this problem?

    • yes, me too..

    • Btpetrina

i am having the same problem. Anyone know what we are doing wrong?

  • djspikezz

I loaded this badboy last night! WORKS AMAZINGLY!! Using 1.1GHZ kernel blueberry. Got benchmark of 1450!!

One quest to everyone, since the FROYO build that has been used by all the rom developers, is it me or is the sound quality of music (pandora) sound kinda muffled? Anyone else notice this?

I restored my BB1.1 (2.1 android), and the sound was back to clear. But I've noticed that the current 2.2 Android system's sound is muffled and not as loud. I'm definitely looking forward to the offical OTA Froyo 2.2, it's amazing now, i can't imagine how awesome the official release one will be.

  • Football4lifeson

I keep on getting a download error why?

    • Patrick

      Me too.

      • Christianromo8

same here i even tried different combinations?

    • bedrock

I was getting the error when I tried to downloa a live wallpaper . When I skipped that it worked fine.

  • Vaden K

Ok, more stupid questions. I have been on vacation for 2 weeks and waited for a month before that before messing with my stock 2.1 because I wanted to be sure I had full function of my GPS for the drive across Nevada and Arizona. I'm back home now and just saw this and NEED the blueberry Froyo on my phone!

I know the phone has to be rooted to install this, but in all the 2.1 root instructions I have found, you have to use RSD to install a rooted 2.1 ROM. Now… do I have to 1) RSD to a 2.1 rooted ROM 2) install ROM Manager 3) install this Froyo from there or is there another more direct way to do this? Again, I am bone stock Motorola Droid 2.1 wanting to go to this Jrummy Froyo in blueberry. Thanks!

    • Chris Nimon

I asked Kellex that exact question. He said once youve flashed sprecovery you should be able to go right to the droidlife froyo rom. not sure about going straight to jrummy though

    • Flyinion

Sounds about right, follow the “rooting 2.1” video tutorial that's in the root section. Once you do that grab ROM Manager, you'll need the paid version to get this ROM but as a new root'er myself it's soooo worth it!! Then just use ROM Manager to install this. If you really don't want to pay for ROM manager you can follow the link up top at the bottom of the article (above the screenies). I think the manual process is basically just like the 2.1 rooting or I think you can actually download the ROM and then use the free version of ROM manager to install off SD Card? The paid version just makes things a bit easier.

    • rals

If I remember correctly you would need to use the RSD lite to root the rom, that is the only way to do it. Once you have done that, then you can install rom manager and do all the fun stuff. But you must follow the root instructions very carefully, and then you can proceed with rom manager and everything else.

  • Thegoldendroid

Ive got to go donate for this right now.. Its just too beautiful to take for free. This ROM is serious business and its not even fully synched yet. He has truly spoiled us this time!

  • Dracul

This is Awsome!!! how stable is it?

    • nkhex19

Very stable. I have had no issues yet.

      • Dracul

        Awsome… thanks.

  • Paul E.

Is it supposed to be downloading 1 of 12? This is a BIG ROM if that's the case. Still, love me some JRummy goodness.

  • Jerome Owens

No all black theme that has a workin marketplace??

  • Br_d

I have tried the initial mydroidworld froyo (or whatever you want to call it) and BB v0.1 and I have had lots of issues with both. Market issues, battery issues, GPS issues, wifi issues, apps loading slow, 3g seems slow, you name it.

I've tried a lot of different fixes for these various things but with every fix there seemed to be a new issue, plus I am kind of a newbie with rooting and tinkering to begin with so I just restored my BB v1.1 setup that I was very happy with and that's where I am right now.

I'm kind of scared to go back to froyo but I really want a stable froyo ASAP. Will this do the trick, or should I just be patient and wait for the source to be released?

    • t0ni

I've run all of those ROMs, and this Kangerade has it all up, and working from download. I had the same problem w things not working, but I've been using this new one for the day, and it's great. Everything works for me!

  • LRiley

    I need that wallpaper

  • hawgpapa

JRummy has done it again. However,I am a BuglessBeast lover and can't wait for v2.0 which is due any time. JRummy probably gave Pete a kick in the butt.

  • KittyKittyLickLick

Nice! I downloaded this bad mofo last night, green theme. Awesome! I love the home screen pinch thingy from HTC's Sense. Thank you Rum-man!

  • EC8CH

    Faster than Pete?

I'm going to have to try one of these out… the level of customization is intriguing.

  • I've been waiting for this, will have to try it out tomorrow when I have time.

Have you tried Simply Stunning 4? If not you should definitely give it a shot, it's my favorite froyo ROM so far.

    • kellex

Thinking about doing this for Friday. 🙂

      • I've been waiting for this, will have to try it out tomorrow when I have time.

Have you tried Simply Stunning 4? If not you should definitely give it a shot, it's my favorite froyo ROM so far. A word of warning though, the included kernal caused my phone to not boot past the M. I had to download a p3 kernal, save it to the memory card as update.zip, install simply stunning, reboot into recovery again and install the update.zip. After that everything was beautiful 🙂

      • djspikezz

Hey Kellex, I don't know if you use Pandora on your droid, but it's what I use when I work out.

Was wondering if you've noticed a muffled quality of sound with the Android 2.2 Froyo thats being used currently in all the froyo roms? I know it's definitely an issue. I restored BB 1.1 (android 2.1) and the sound was insanely better, somthing most may not notice, but somthing to note.

  • zach471

Has he fixed Activesync? If so, this is being downloaded ASAP…

  • redbar0n11

    EEEeeEEeEEeeeEEEeeeeEeEeEeEeeeeee! *Click* 😀

  • Flyinion

Hmm my after work project is cut out for me 🙂 Now to decide between blueberry or strawberry.

  • Jay

Downloading now. I loved the “unstable” Kangerade version, so I can only imagine how much better this is going to be.

  • What kernel do you suggest using?

    • kellex

I went with the stock kernel, but all of them should work.

    • djspikezz

If you don't mind draining your battery a bit faster, Use 1.1ghz kernel, it's stable and blazing fast as hell!! I got a bench test of 1450 with this badboy

  • aarynk

Been running this since last night and I can agree with Kellex Fastest ROM I have used to date!!! Faster than any 2.1 or 2.2 one I have used.

    GREAT work again JRummy!!

  • dylan84

How does this compare to Bugless Beast froyo?

    • nkhex19

Haven't tried the BB Froyo, but this Kangerade ROM is definitely fast. I don't think you will be disappointed. The stock Launcher is ADW so there is no lag with the launcher.

  • nkhex19

Definitely the fastest ROM I have used. Very smooth and fast. Running Chevy's 1ghz LV Kernel OC'd at 900mhz and it runs awesome. Rockin the Blueberry Kangerade!!!

  • Ksmckay

where can I get the widget above the pandora box?

Also, as someone with very limited experience with all this- Is this ROM pretty similar to the BB version in terms of memory control and cpu overclock control? The BB version seems to manage that stuff on its own and I Was wondering if this version does all that stuff on its own as well…

    • Chris.Go

      Pandora

      • Ksmckay

Nice. I was going for the Wifi, gps, sync, etc… widget as opposed to the widget labeled Pandora

        • Ksmckay

          Power control widget I guess.

          • rals

I believe it's called power control when you select widgets on a blank pane.

  • EggoEspada

Awesome. I've been waiting for this. Flashing now.. 🙂

  • Can anyone download this or does the phone have to be rooted?

  • timarnette

This is great where do I find that wall paper??

    • Chris Nimon

wallpapers/adw launcher. hes got several in there.

  • iApex

Thats insane, there are also options for custom font, backgrounds, boot animations and special things you want added into the ROM or things you want deleted off the ROM. This is so amazing!

    • I'm getting a download error after I make my way through all of these goodies.

  • superchachi

would anyone know what font that is in the screenies?

  • Puck3511

Just couldnt wait till friday huh? :p

    • kellex

Heh nope! We'll have another theme on Friday. 🙂

      • Superdan2481

i cant seem to get this to run fast on my droid i had the BB froyo and it ran great 800mhz but i tryed this and it only runs at 600mhz and when i installed the diff kernels it really messed up!! i dunno i just rooted my phone yesterday!? any help?

        • Klw5688

Do you have setcpu? if not get it from the market its like the best 2 bucks ever…
think of setcpu as if it were the accelerator pedal for your car.
          Hope this helps.

  • PyroHoltz

What sort of launchers are working w/ Froyo at the moment?

I've never run a JRummy ROM, how do they compare to CyanogenMod? What differences can I expect?

    • You can expect greater speeds and awesomeness 😛
All Launchers should be working 🙂

      • otter34

I'm still learning, however isn't there a tradeoff between battery life and speed? Doesn't a faster ROM always mean that the battery will be dying quicker?

        • PyroHoltz

From what I understand, the JIT(Just In Time) compiler for Froyo makes everything run MUCH faster but doesn't sacrifice battery life. If anything you'll improve battery life.

          • Yes, thatnks for adding to that. Almost forgot about JIT

          • PyroHoltz

Haha, got you covered bro. I'm here to help, just haven't made the plunge into Froyo goodness yet. I really dont want to re-setup my phone…lol. Just lazy maybe? To be honest though, CyanogenMod is working really well. I'm sure just like when I rooted and went with custom ROMs in the first place, I'll look back on not going to Froyo and laugh.

        • Sometimes that assumption is dead on.
A lot of these new Froyo ROM’s are actually putting that issue at rest.
I have been very pleased with my JRummys battery life as of yet.
I have also been getting the same response from a lot of other users.
There is a reason why so many people are switching to Bugless Beast, JRummy, etc…
Because they are well built ROM’s with lots and lots to offer.

Try it out, I almost guarantee you wont be disappointed 🙂

      • PyroHoltz

Tim, what overclocking is available with this ROM? Are there custom kernels I need to grab in order to get to 1.0 or 1.1 with a low voltage ?

        • nkhex19

If you download through Rom Manager Premium you have all kinds of Kernel Choices. I believe he has P3Droid and ChevyNo1 kernels listed to choose from. I am running ChevyNo1 1.0Ghz LV 7 slot. Running great so far.

          • Are you having troubles sending out emails using gmail from this new ROM? :-/
            Just keeps saying “sending”…..grrr!

          • bsteen

I've had this trouble when switching ROMs before. Go into Settings/Applications/Manage applications/All and clear data on GMail. It then takes about a minute for everything to load back from the Google cloud. You don't lose anything but send works again, at least it did for me.

          • Thegoldendroid

Had the same problem last week when I went to bbFroyo.. go to setings>applications>.manage applications> gmail> clear cache and clear data.. mine worked fine after that

    • kellex

Pretty much all of them. This theme uses ADW which looks like the Froyo launcher.

      • PyroHoltz

Excellent, thanks for the response everyone. Kellex, are you able to toss up some screenies with other color themes selected? I hate to admit it but the pink just isn't doing it for me… 😐 (Don't ban me..haha)

jrummy tossed us this bone last night. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/jrummy/51630-p

          • PyroHoltz

Awesome, thanks for the link Chris.

        • Dracul

I like the wallpaper for the pink, but not all the pink icons ect. lol sorry Kellex 🙂

    • jaydoubledub

I have tried Home++, TAG Home, and LauncherPro. I've had FC's with LauncherPro though. However, when I deleted the other launchers with JRummy's scripts (using his GUI) it seems that the C's are no more.

      • jaydoubledub

        I meant “FC's” lol

  • Puck3511

    VERY FAST!!!!

  • Klw5688

exaclty what ive been waiting for…i just know it will be awesome.

  • second… running JsinLegacy's Iron Man theme… sticking with it for awhile…JRummy's rom's rock

  • Looks very colorful. I'm waiting until Pete finishes up whatever project he's on atm before I do any changes on my phone.

  • might have to give this a looksie….i love blue themes, they go so well with my blue case. 🙂

  • I TOLD YOU! lol

    Pink life….
    figures…..

    • kellex

Haha gotta show love to our theme. 🙂

      • I wouldnt mind the wallpaper 😛
You should probably post that, or I guess I could go searching…boo…

        • kellex

Pretty sure these wallpapers come in every color too.

          • Nope 🙁
I got the Nextheme and I got nothing besides the LWP I chose…
And also, no I am noticing I cant seem to clear my defaults on LauncherPro
to check out the theme Froyo Launcher…
            This is no fun lol

          • Timoh

Would be easy with some a little GIMP/Photoshop to chaneg the color. This ROM looks great.

I'm itching to get a new Droid(X?2? Trying to make up my mind). I'll have to test the soft keyboard out on the X, if I like it I'll definitely buy one, then impatiently wait for it to be rooted. Can't wait to ditch this Omnia.

          • Mdeamicis

haha, i got sick of waiting to ditch my omnia and located a like new moto droid for 200. man i am so much happier with the droid. i'll be past my contract in august so i can enjoy my droid while i watch the evolution take place for the next 6-12 months.

          • Timoh

Thats a good idea too, I'm sure there will be quiet a few people wanting to unload their droid soon. Then I can root and overclock it immediately and not want to throw my phone against the wall every time I use it.

      • Chris Nimon

I do, and my wife teases me. http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt50/chrisni

        • Awwwe, how cute! 😛

          • Chris Nimon

funny, thats EXACTLY what she said ( no Office reference intended)

    • Ace Z.

Uh hum…I told you so :p

    • Paul E.

LOL… I getcha. But… real men DO wear pink. LOL.
That's why I went with the NexTheme… I don't tend to use a lot of the colorful icons and such, and I avoid LWP because they suck my battery dry, usually.
